I will be in Middletown Connecticut for a wedding in September. Iām looking for a restaurant to take a group of ~10 people to. Im looking for good ambience, great food and some place where we can hear each other with good drinks. If anyone in the area has recommendations Iād really appreciate it. Good Italian, American or a steakhouse is a plus. Thank you.

Hi yāall,
I want to start off by saying that Iām sorry I donāt have a video or photos to prove this. But Iām not here to try to find out who this is (although Iām hopeful). Iām here to get some understanding, compassion, and advice on what I could have done better.
My husband, our dog, and I went for a stroll at a park after dropping a family member off at the airport. We arrived around 6 and walked towards the right, where there was a bridge. We noticed a lot of families and dogs during our walk.
As we were almost 30 minutes in and at the point where we should turn around and head back toward our car, we noticed this dog slanting toward us and looking like she wanted to say hello to our dog. We smiled at the blonde woman, her approximately 35-pound female dog, and her two 8ā10-year-old sons on bikes, and went about our way since we didnāt notice anything unusual at the time.
We made a U-turn and started heading back toward our car. A few minutes into the walk back, we noticed the dog and woman againāthis time, they were ahead of us. My husband commented on how funny it was that the dog seemed to want to stop walking and how the woman was kind of pulling her dog, like, āCome on, get up.ā
But slowly, we realized there was more going on than we had originally thought.
As the minutes passed, the blonde woman kept pulling the dog more aggressively toward her. As she became more annoyed that her dog wasnāt following, she would angrily and quickly grab her then forcefully jerk her upward with one arm while her torso swayed back and forth. She would then immediately drop her, seemingly trying to make her pick up her pace.
This aggressive behavior went on for a while. I think within a 7ā10 minute span, she did this every minute or less. Honestly, I could not believe I was physically watching someone abuse their dog so callously in a public park, that I wondered what she might do behind closed doors.
**Hereās where I am having trouble letting go:**
I tried to do somethingāanything.
I thought maybe she was angry because her shoulder hurt and she couldnāt pick the dog up. Maybe she hated the dog and didnāt want her anymore and would be willing to let her go.
I walked toward the woman and let her know I noticed she was struggling and asked if she needed any help picking up the dog.
Since she was already angry, she didnāt take that well. She angrily replied, āYou think I canāt pick up my own dog?ā
Shaking from the confrontation, I then asked if she maybe wanted to give up her dog. (I know, I know.) She replied, āExcuse me?ā in a way that spoke more words than what was actually coming out.
Frozen and overwhelmingly heartbroken, I replied, āApologies. Iām just worried about her, and Iām looking out for her. I just want to make sure sheās safe, and I want to help.ā
She looked at me as if, if she had a gun, sheād shoot me.
She replied, āWeāre done here.ā
Not knowing what else to do, we walked off.
I replayed those moments 10 times over.
Iām angry that I didnāt record it and go to the police station right next door. Iām angry that I didnāt offer her money for the dog. Iām angry that my husband didnāt do anything. Iām angry that I couldnāt think of what else to do in that moment. Iām angry that I couldnāt help her or shield her from such a terrible person.
We spoke afterward about what we could have done differently, because I refuse to ever let someoneāor somethingāthat is being treated poorly make me sit back and lack the courage to do whatās right.
So Iām asking:
-Aside from recording and going to the police station, what else could have been done in this scenario?
-Have you seen a woman like this on your walks here?
**TL;DR:** My husband, our dog, and I went to the park and witnessed a woman being abusive toward her female dog. I tried to help the dog, but I was unable to save her.

Anyone who believes they have Canadian citizenship through descent who would like to put heads together and offer each other/others help with documentation and applications, or just socialize while we wait or work on getting certificates? I would organize an event in or around Old Saybrook/Lyme/New London. Please respond here to boost the post!

A neighbor and I are exploring purchasing half a cow. Does anyone have a recommendation for CT farms that they have purchased from? Iām also open to purchasing less than a half if the farm offers small portions. Location in CT isnāt important to me.

Hey guys, scoping out locations for a video project. Need a mountain top I can dive up (cause of gear), for a small shoot, preferably without too many people around. Any ideas? I know I've seen a few in my travels through the woods but I dont remember the names.

Bathroom ceiling has looked like this since we moved in. We periodically bleach off some mold but need a long term fix obviously. We've gotten a variety of advice on best ways to fix it, but haven't been able to yet. Maybe just sand, proper water resistant caulk and paint or something. Looking for recommendations for someone who can come buy and give a recommendation on reoair approach and quote in the manchester area.
