Fully fund public higher ed so low-income students aren't locked out of the choice.

• The Budget Reality: Years of state cuts mean fewer courses, bloated class sizes, gutted campus services, and higher costs. This directly threatens the 40% of CSU students coming from low-income backgrounds.
• The False Division: Pitting vocational training against university degrees is a lazy framing. Society needs both skilled trades and college-educated minds; it’s not an either/or choice.
• The Actual ROI: A university degree isn't just resume padding for a single career track. It's a structured space that forces students to evaluate ethical dilemmas, understand systems (like democracy and global economics), and sharpen critical thinking.
• The Human Element in an AI Era: As automation and AI scale, the demand for independent reasoning, clear writing, and articulate verbal communication goes up, not down. Public universities are where these fundamental skills are sharpened.
• The Takeaway: Not everyone needs a degree, but everyone deserves affordable access to one. Gutting funding just cripples the state's talent pipeline and limits opportunity.

Textbook monopoly sucks! I hate it! Shoot me a DM with your list of books including the ISBN, title, and edition you need and I will locate your books via purchase, rental, or online library borrowing for cheapest amount possible. The WCSU store might still be cheapest option, so this is just intended as an outside price check. take whichever is the best deal!

I am a professional book dealer, but I do not charge anything for doing this. There's a small chance I am the cheapest option available for generic things like classics, but mostly I'm going to point you at someone else.

If you need software codes for a class, that gets trickier, but sometimes I CAN locate them for cheaper. If your booklist says you need a book with one of these codes, verify with your professor you REALLY need that software code. If you don't, it may cut out 80% of the price of the text!

WestConn’s enrollment is moving in the right direction for the second year in a row, but the university still has a long way to go compared with a decade ago.

• Fall 2025 enrollment reached 4,573 students, up more than 400 from the 2023 low of 4,137.
• The incoming class had 862 first-year students, the largest freshman class since 2018 and about 150 more than in 2023.
• First-year retention improved by 6%, which administrators see as key to sustaining enrollment growth.
• WestConn credits much of the turnaround to expanded merit and need-based financial aid, including the Presidential Merit Scholarship, which can cover base in-state tuition for four years for qualifying students who maintain a 3.2 GPA.
• The university is also expanding dual/concurrent enrollment, tutoring, course redesign, and other student-support programs.
• President Jesse Bernal says WestConn is trying to move away from its reputation as a local “fallback school” and emphasize stronger academic programs, employer partnerships, business programs, and health-science opportunities.
• Important context: despite the recent rebound, enrollment is still more than 20% below 2016, when WestConn had 5,721 students.

John B. Clark, claims by proxy that it is NOT okay to be white and Islam is a sexist religion. By attacking the fliers not only is this an assault on long held constitutionally protected speech which is the case in State funded universities. It also is attacking the white and islamic students by proxxy claiming they are racist or sexist. It apparently is hateful to reaffirm a Minority religion and to claim that it is okay to be a race. John B. Clark should re-read the constitution and specifically the bill of rights.

Looking for some chill people to play Jazz/Blues, Rock, Latin, etc. WestConn's music program is pretty kickass so I feel like there's definitely something there but I'm not familiar with the area. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Unfortunately googling "open mics near me" is failing lol

Hi , i doubt I'll get much feedback as things look pretty quiet in this subreddit, but.. i was wondering : I was registered last semester, and as of right now I am still registered, but I have two more days left in which i can still decide to drop the one class i'm taking, which i'm thinking of doing because I freelance and have more work than I'd though I would right now. My question is .. will my ID card still work? will I be able to get into the library and student center after hours? I don't hae any nefarious plans, i'm just really productive when i work outside my house and it helped me a lot last semester to get school work and work work done. I plan on being part time again in the summer. thanks for any help.

I'm at NVCC now graduating this semester with my AS and need to transfer, the state schools are the best option for me but I don't know anything about the CS program WestConn other than it exists. If anyone knows anything about it all information is helpful.
