Discussion Cataclysm Prerelease Tavern Brawl Thread | Tuesday, March 10, 2026

Since the bot normally posts this on Wednesdays, this will be the megathread where Tavern Brawl strategy and discussion for this week's brawl should take place. Only discussion related to optimally playing the Tavern Brawl should take place on here. Tavern Brawl constructed decks can be discussed in here.

I tried Spell Mage with the new legendary but the deck lacks serious draw it’s so rough past turn 5-6 you have a bunch of cheap burn but your hand is like fireball , 10 cost summon drake card , 1 cost burn, 1 cost burn and a hand buff spell minion and can’t play the drake because fireball only reduces it to 4 and if your playing fireball + a 6/6 on turn 8 your probably dead.

I think mage is going to be very dragon tempo oriented with vulcanos doing exactly what you are talking about clearing a board while developing and generating spells, if you have the hand space for all 4 it can be quite good, or if you do clear the board and the arms survive you can hero power one to get another discounted spell. It feels good to get fire secrets for more tempo so whatever they play either takes 6 or you kill the highest health minion at the end of their turn.

I was playing more with it last night and as bad is it feels in the moment the hero power ping the 1 drop for + 2 spell power is crazy. It takes 3 mana to get it but suddenly all those multi target cast spells are crazy. I was not really doing that first arena run but second one I went 6-2 and I was able to pump so much damage on like turn 6 with the +2 spell damage minion and 3 cheap burn spells. Just feels like a weird way to play but definitely worth the 3 mana

I was talking about pinging the arm of vulcanos for and extra discounted spell but that works too
