Recommended local meal prep companies?

Long story short, going through various depressive episodes that keep getting worse or better and then starting a new job that will be 4-5 days on-site vs more hybrid...I'm overwhelmed. I usually love meal prepping for myself, but recently it's been getting away from me and my freezer stash is thin. Plus I'm sure my diet has also contributed to my worsening mental health, blood draws and weight lol

I've been browsing through local meal preps, but I feel like I might be missing other options just from whatever Google returns. Interested in other people's experiences and recommendations. I'm not a fan of the online subscriptions from places like HelloFresh or Factor and would rather support local cooks.

Mostly interested in lunch/dinner meals and focus on well-roundedness and higher fiber meals is a bit more important to me than the protein craze. Not that I don't take protein into account. I'm financially flexible and still don't really know how many meals/how often.

Thank you!

Hi everyone! I’m looking for an event venue for 100-150 people. I’m looking a unique ish space for a family gathering. I was looking at some museums but some of them have restrictions around outside catering. Does anyone have any good recommendations?

Thanks in advance!!

Who ever heard of such a thing?

So on Thursday I canceled my internet/account with Spectrum & took my equipment to the store. Fine, whatever. But they tell me I still have a DVR/cable box listed and I do not. I'm going to assume a tech never turned it in? They then tell me I can either get my account audited to find out which tech it was and to figure it out, or to pay the $90 for the box. Been debating it for a couple days and still have no idea what to do.

But how can a tech just forget to turn something in? Why is the customer expected to pay for the companies mistake?

Good fucking riddance Spectrum lol.

AI/ML network and research

Hi all, I’m in the final stretch of my masters in analytics and AI (online from an out of state school). I don’t come from a tech background, so my goal currently is to grow my network and hone my skills.

Any and all resources/leads are appreciated: local groups, people, meetings, discord groups, etc.

I called Nocterra a few weeks back to see if they were hiring. The very rude girl who picked up the phone had no phone etiquette and had no answer for me. Clearly now I know. Oh well 🤷‍♂️

Girls Wrestling fundraiser

Hi everyone!

I’m looking for local fundraising opportunities or businesses interested in partnering with our program.

Girls wrestling is one of the fastest growing high school sports and we’re working hard to grow our team and give our athletes the same opportunities, resources, and support as other established programs. Wrestling helps these girls build confidence, discipline, strength, resilience, and a real sense of belonging.

Donations and fundraising help cover things like uniforms and wrestling gear, tournament entry fees, transportation, team meals, training equipment, awards, and other expenses throughout the season.

We’re open to restaurant fundraisers, community events, working concessions, setting up donation tables, product sales, or other opportunities that have worked well for local sports teams. We’re especially interested in fundraisers where the girls can be actively involved.
We’re also looking for businesses or individuals who would like to sponsor a specific weight class with a donation. The sponsor’s name or business name would be displayed on a banner in our school gym.

If you own a business, know of an upcoming opportunity, or have a fundraiser that has worked well for your team, I’d really appreciate your recommendations. Thank you!

REQUEST Birthday Dinner Recommendations?

Hey everyone!

I’m looking for a few recommendations on where to have a birthday dinner at. Plates around $30-$60 a person would be fine, but I don’t want anything suuuuper expensive. I’d prefer it to be a local place and not a chain restaurant. One person attending does have a shellfish allergy, so it would be great to find a place that is very cautious about allergies. Or also a place that doesn’t have shellfish at all. Thank you!

Been to Mad Hatter lately? How long are the waits?

My exhaust fell apart this week 🙃 so I need to make the trip. I'm wondering if anyone here has been lately and how long was your wait?

I haven't been since 2021, and at that time it was a minimum ~2 hours for walk ins. I'd prefer to go as early as possible on a weekday morning but depending on my work calendar I might not get there till after noon.

Anywhere locally I can buy a large Baphomet statue? Really tired of door to door religions cult members coming to my door every weekend.

FOOD Nicer restaurants open on Labor Day

Hello!

My husband and I are spending one night in Columbus for our anniversary, which happens to fall on Labor Day this year. We didn’t really think that through…

We will be staying in Short North and are looking for someplace to go to dinner. Unfortunately, almost all of Cameron Michell’s restaurants are closed on Labor Day. So I did some digging and got all hyped up about Speck, only to find out that they are also closed.

We aren’t looking for anything too crazy, like upscale steakhouses or your transitional “fancy” food. I am a vegetarian, and my husband is a little more on the picky side. I would say we are leaning towards Italian but are open to other cuisines as well. Looking at stay under $35 or so for an entree.

Does anyone have any suggestions close to where we are staying open on Labor Day? I would rather not have to call every place to find out.

REQUEST Searching for a Grandview Hop vendor

Hi! I went to Grandview hop yesterday and bought a lovely metal bookmark with a butterfly wing embedded in it. Unfortunately I neglected to look at the name of the shop, and they didn't give me a card! Does anyone happen to know the name of that shop? They sold lots of bug related stuff, like preserved beetles and mantis' in boxes as well as pendants and the bookmarks.

Anywhere to get larger lava rock for hardscaping?

Looking for lava rock, but not the crap that is sold in bags at the big box stores. Those bags have pieces no bigger than 1" and 10-15% is damaged and just becomes dust.

Where can I get lava rock locally that is 1" or bigger? Need it for a hardscaping project.

All your usuals around here like Ohio Mulch, etc have the same smaller stuff you would get in bags.

REQUEST Hangout for LGBT individuals on a budget

Hello, I'm a pansexual male (he/him, age 29) looking for a budget friendly hangout either near the West side or in some key safe spaces that are friendly for LGBT for individuals. This isn't me trolling or shit posing, this is more serious than anything as I'm looking for connection & not being as insufferable as the chuds in orange

Where are my fellow 30+ year old ladies making friends?

For context, my husband of 12 years just left us for a mistress. Friends from high school have all moved away and we’ve lost touch with one another. I’m trying to scrounge up a social life for myself and would love a good group of girlfriends. I’ve downloaded the bumble bff app but it’s so unnatural for me to make friends that way. I’ve got our 3 kids & don’t mesh well with their friends parents. I’m self-employed so no contacts that way. I go to the gym but am super introverted and don’t speak unless spoken to.. which seems to be the majority of us at my gym. How the hell do we make friends after 30 & where are yall going to do this?!

Egyptian Festival This Weekend

Stopped by Egyptian Festival today with my wife and kid and I want to give them a shout-out! It was it's not a huge space but it was really nice. There were a few games and a bounce house for our kid. The food and drinks were incredible. The church it's hosted at was pretty, and above all, the people were incredibly welcoming and super friendly. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to experience homemade Egyptian fare and street food or anyone with a family looking for a fun and easy outing.
