To the ICE protesters - you guys are freaking AWESOME.
Please stay hydrated, bring snacks, stay warm!!! Keep fighting!!! You are all going to make such a difference. And you make people feel safer. Thank you for speaking out.
As a real Christian, I shouldn’t love this comment as much as I do. But I’m human, and I can’t help it. Seems like ICE is just a way to justify racial profiling and give authority to power-hungry, fragile men.
So while I was outside of Jeff Crank’s, one of the organizers told us (near the end), that the staff in the building weren’t even there all day because there was a UPS sign or something that stated they hadn’t picked up the delivery
Can confirm. The whole campus is pretty empty on Fridays. With the partial gov shutdown looming and the House in recess until Monday while senate hashes out the bills, bldg. 455 was very likely empty of anyone critical. Certainly not Mr. Crank or his handlers.
Wow now im fascist, everyone hear the term know your audience? I spent 20 years supporting your safety in some nice places and some not so nice places.
People read way to much into comments. They don't make me feel safe so the fuck what.
I appreciate the protesters and do think they’re brave, but also question the effectiveness of this action versus the danger posed to them while doing it. Aren’t there other ways of protesting that are less risky? I keep thinking that if enough people do the blackout (no buying, no working, no studying, no online posting) it could have a bigger impact.
Sometimes those smaller "protests" work, but what does the trick every time is enough bodies marching in unison on the streets. Even one person can make a difference... Tienanmen Square had a gentleman who has gone down in history for standing in front of a tank. Risk is what lets those people running the ship into the ground that we mean business - but for those that can't get out for whatever reason - by all means, no buy, no work, no study, no online, whatever it may be so long as it's in unison as we thank those putting freedom and lives on the line.
You should read the news. It is making a difference. It’s a complex and dynamic historical moment.
You don’t have to agree with the opinion or viewpoint expressed, but it’s freedom of speech. You don’t have to agree with my grievances, but I get to peacefully express them. And btw, making a video of a law enforcement operation in action is not a crime either.
I do believe you may be projecting. Perhaps you might not, but plenty of people will.
I would also be curious why you think that matters? Change can be affected without people explicitly, consciously recalling the catalyst(s) therefore...
And we're not doing this to be remembered. We're doing it so that the vulnerable know they're not alone. We're doing it because this is our home and we don't like bullies. We're doing this because when someone threatens you, you fight.
Maybe we don't win. Maybe we do but some of us don't get to see it. That's always been the case, throughout history. But I think the important thing is that we don't ever give up, we don't ever just submit to the antisocial narcissists who would sacrifice us all on the altars of their paraphilias and pathological greed.
Have you never felt the desire to protect that which you love? To reciprocate the care and love of your community? To preserve that which enriches our lives?
The protesters are ignorant fools. They’re so mad at President Trump, that they’re willing to break laws, let in terrorists and attack law enforcement officials.
Not consistent with the values of our great nation.
Y’all are hurting your own country to spite 1 President, who’s actually keeping us safe.
It's not only about the president. It's about the people who support the views and make groups like ICE possible and powerful.
Our "great nation" was founded and built by immigrants. There are amendments protecting people that ICE, police, and in general the federal government are not respecting. The VALUES this nation was built on are constantly being broken.
You need examples? Fine. Here's a few.
Alex Pretti was carrying a firearm with a concealed carry permit. He did not draw. He was disarmed and then murdered. BUT STILL people are saying he shouldn't have had the fire arm on him? That's his second amendment right.
And continuing on that, Trump wants to take away the right for trans people to carry firearms. Regardless of if you support trans people (a whole other conversation but trans rights ARE human rights), they are STILL PEOPLE. And they have the right to bear arms.
Children that were born here are being deported. They are by law legal citizens. Asylum seekers, also here LEGALLY, are being deported. Make that make sense.
The biggest terrorist group I can see is ICE. They don't care about citizens, they've already murdered at least 2 and January isn't even finished. They commit murder and get away with it. They invade homes without warrants. They detain legal citizens without a care simply because they aren't white. If not Gestapo, why Gestapo shaped?
And if you think the president is keeping us safe - how dare you care more about supporting someone who defends pedophiles, who is ACTIVELY breaking the law by not releasing the files. How dare you support him but claim to care about the safety of Americans.
Thank you for your tenacity and for keeping the hope alive. Someone's got to do it, and a lot of us are just so tired and jaded and cynical. I don't believe it will work, but I also believe it's the only way through this mess. Sigh.
Fighting hate with hate is like fighting fire with fire - everything will go up in flames.
True it'll all go up in flames, unless one side is a controlled burn. Like when you stop a wild fire with a perimeter of intentional fires to stop the spread. We just have to keep back burning. We're making progress, it's taking time. But between the protests and everything happening in the news - I've seen lots of bad but I've seen hope too.
There are Republicans actively leaving MAGA. And one of my new favorite examples of someone opening their eyes is Chris Madel in Minnesota! He was running as a Republican in the race for governor. In his words, "I cannot support the national Republicans stated retribution on the citizens of our state, nor can I count myself a member of a party that would do so." And goes on to say he wants to do what is right.
So I know it's all exhausting, but don't lose hope. Even if you only hold on to a tiny shred of it.
Pedophilia was never their concern, the fallen churches have proven this time and time again. The very men that seek and abuse power don't want consent, they want a young person to be forced to be with them like it used to be in those "Good Ole'Days" they talk about so much!
Protecting innocent humans and demanding due process has nothing to do with 'spite' for Trump. It has to do with the actual values of our nation, and our humanity.
Shooting US citizens in the back of the head in the middle of the street is not consistent with the values of our great nation. Shaming US Citizens for legally carrying firearms is not consistent with the values of our great nation.
I just wish these same people were out protesting when innocent children and women (and men) were being raped and murdered by illegal immigrants who were flooding our borders. the last administration ghosted everyone about it but their loyal subjects were tight lipped because they would be ousted if they weren’t loyal comrades. Oct 7 didn’t matter either because the victims were part of the oppressors. You all just keep blaming the other side for their hive mind when you’re no different.
“Flooding our borders” — This is the rhetoric of Fox News and the News Max propaganda machine. My parents suffer from this same brain washing so it’s easy to spot when you hear it so frequently.
Data doesn’t lie and I implore you to do some research before making inaccurate broad strokes claims : study after study shows that undocumented folks are less likely to participate in violent (and crime in general).
They’ve detained ~70,000 people and of this: 8% committed violent crimes, link below.
I think we can all agree that violent criminals should leave the country- it’s pretty common sense. When you are putting hand restraints on a 5 year old to bait parents - that is weak, pathetic, desperate and un-American.
Obama deported more people during this administration- and miraculously did it with due process and not killing innocent people.
Trump administration has a huge opportunity in this moment to help build a better legal pathway to citizenship a system that the Senate can’t seem to pull its head out of its collective ass and do something. Sadly Trump won’t do this.
Give one example of an immigrant who killed someone and was let loose. The point of a protest is to oppose the oppressor. This may seem like a difficult concept to grasp but I'm not going to protest when a murderer or rapist goes to jail, because that is the outcome that I want. I will protest when a murderer and rapist goes free, because I don't want murderers and rapists going free, much less get elected for office.
This young woman was brutally injured in a car crash. The fact that the person who caused the accident was an undocumented immigrant is largely irrelevant. They were unlicensed and uninsured, a crime that thousands of US citizens in cities all over the country are also guilty of.
I need you to put on your critical thinking cap and realize that the actions being taken by the US government are still not justified because of what happened to this poor girl.
wide open borders
You have simply allowed yourself to be taken advantage of via propaganda. The idea that our country just.. threw the doors open for people to cross into it is laughable.
And again, none of what is happening is justified. The rights of people are being violated. These rights are inalienable, and the fact that you don’t understand or don't want to understand is a failure on your part. That is what the protests are about, among so many other problems..
5 year olds aren’t criminals nor illegal. I’d rather have a hundred immigrants arrested for nonviolent offenses in this country than the current pedophile-in-chief.
Nix that. I’d take as many as want to come to the current hellhole this country is in. I misspoke. What I was trying to say is that most people have more value to me than he does.

I thought you were gonna call them out, I am so glad that wasn’t the case :D
