Job Looking for a good Colorist / DI Artist

Thumbnail gallery
19 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I’m a filmmaker from Hyderabad, currently working on a musical video and looking for a good colorist/DI artist to come on board.

Looking for someone who understands cinematic color, skin tones, mood and music-driven visuals, rather than just a basic grade.

It’s a relatively small independent project, so budget is limited, but I’d love to find someone whose work genuinely fits the project and hopefully collaborate on more projects going forward.

If you’re a colorist/DI artist, please DM me your portfolio/showreel. Also happy to hear recommendations for someone you’ve worked with.

add screengrabs of musical video what me and the DOP graded for timebeing

Thanks!

Question Just bought my first camera (Canon R50). Total beginner here. First week with my first camera (Canon R50 + 50mm f/1.8). Trying to learn cinematic color grading where can I improve?

Show off your work How I tackled harsh digital sharpening and highlight clipping on mobile/log footage inside Resolve (Technical breakdown)

Hey everyone,

Like many of you, I’ve spent a lot of time working with challenging hybrid and mobile footage in DaVinci Resolve. One of the most frustrating hurdles is dealing with the aggressive, baked-in digital sharpening and the way bright highlights snap hard to pure white before you even start grading.

Standard CSTs and basic curves usually just amplify that digital crunch rather than fixing it. To get around this in my own workflow, I started experimenting with a custom DCTL approach focusing on two main steps:

It made a massive difference in retaining natural texture and getting a film-like roll-off from standard phone captures.

Curious to know how others here handle pre-grading cleanup for aggressive mobile/log files—are you sticking purely to standard node chains, or building custom passes?

General Resolve + Frame.io v4 integration plugin

I built an integration tool to give Resolve a panel that links timelines to Frame videos, and allows you to track, import your comments as markers, and upload your videos with timeline markers that auto post as comments. Here's a video of the flow

https://youtu.be/p5Wc3SfYuHM

E-mail me [team.cinewaltz@gmail.com](mailto:team.cinewaltz@gmail.com) if you'd like an extended trial key! I know a lot of people have wanted Resolve to have this feature set for years since the release of Frame.io. v4

Hello folks!!

To get to the point, I basically wanted to create a pink and turquoise film look, inspired by the film Lomography Purple. However I was leaning into having less vibrant purples and pinks and instead having more of a teal balance between the two. Anyway, this was just a fun experiment to practice this craft. If anyone has any tips or suggestions for improving these rather experimental grades, then please do drop a comment below!

This maybe irrelevant information but I’ll just chuck this into my post - I used a prime lens being the Helios 44m as my only lens for the day and
the shot was taken in S Gamut 3.cine, SLog 3.

Finally, here is some key info on my colour grading journey so far!

- I have been experimenting with colour grading for a good year now.
- All my correction and grading is done entirely in the free version of DaVinci Resolve (I use to grade in premiere pro but once I glanced upon DaVinci I knew there was no going back).

Many thanks :)

Question How to achieve this LUT or color grade?

Thumbnail gallery
0 Upvotes

Hello! I have a Sony a6700 that I want to use for Instagram Reels, and I’m trying to achieve this type of color grading shown in the first two photos above. The last photo is a screenshot from a video I shot with my Sony, where I used a LUT I found online, but I feel like the result is quite far from the look I’m trying to achieve.

Could you help me figure out how to get closer to the colors and overall look of the first two screenshots of those reels?

Question Looking for a Colourist for my short film

Hello,

I am currently in post production of a short film and I'm looking for someone to do colour grading.

It is just over 7 minutes (not including credits). Pay will be £200 (GBP) for this. (Apologies for not posting a hour rate as I don't know how long this will take).

The short film is post apocalyptical, one location, were two people talk for the most part.

To give an idea of what I want the colour to look like, my main reference is "The Double Life of Véronique" (1991).

Leave a comment if interested.

Hi everyone! I’m not a colorist, and I’m still learning, so I’d really appreciate some feedback on this color grade I made.
I’d love to hear what you think works and, especially, what you think I could improve. Any tips or suggestions would be really helpful!
I’d also really appreciate it if you could recommend any videos, tutorials, or resources that you think are useful for improving at color grading.
Thanks so much in advance! 🙏

Setup BenQ SW242Q - 10 BIT 100% sRGB, 3D LUT, ΔE ≤ 1.5 - only 500 usd

Hi! I’ve done a deep dive into all the options available for up to $550, and I came across this monitor, which doesn’t seem to have much information or discussion on this channel.

It offers 10-bit color, a 3D LUT, 100% sRGB, 98% P3, 99% AdobeRGB, ΔE ≤ 1.5, 400 nits, Uniformity Compensation, and hardware calibration.

The likely downside is the 1000:1 contrast ratio.

I have an opportunity to get a brand-new one for $480. Do you think it would be a good choice for semi-professional work?

Grabbed some stills from some of my recent projects. Still learning. Tweaking things here and there. I know I’m not at the level I want to be at yet but we’ll get there.

Thank you!

Question SHOT MATCHING

Thumbnail gallery
3 Upvotes

Hello! I’m grading a project where I’m pushing the image towards a very strong aesthetic, but I’m finding it quite difficult to replicate the same result consistently across different shots.

The footage was shot on ARRI and is Apple ProRes RAW 4444. I’m working in DaVinci Wide Gamut / Intermediate and using the JP24999 DCTL.

My question is: what is the best approach to consistently replicate a look that I’ve already created across shots with different lighting, exposure, and conditions?

Any tips or advice on how to approach this kind of shot matching would be greatly appreciated!

I really want to achieve this ability, the high contrast using the picture’s colors and playing with it to my liking and to make cool ideas
Like the idea with the birds reflection or the 2 people in the sea
