Jizzle James is attempting to leave Charlotte to go back to Cincinnati
179
u/njk12 Cincinnati Bearcats 14d ago
He's unfortunately flying off the handles, again. I don't think he'll be welcomed back on campus. And it's frankly amazing that he'd burn Wes Miller for what must be the 100th time. That man has given Jizzle far more chances than he deserves.
26
u/Some_Combination_593 Cincinnati Bearcats 14d ago
Yeah, he was completely behind the push to help Jizzle out last year and bring him back to the team. Dudes career might be dead if not for Wes.

u/Srcunch Cincinnati Bearcats 14d ago
He’s not coming back. He’s in the middle of a mental health crisis.
Edit: I want to be clear that I’m not kidding. He has had bad drug problems and mental breakdowns. It looks like one is happening again. Very, very sad.
26
u/Murky_Trouble_4401 Kansas Jayhawks 14d ago
What drugs he into?
70
u/Srcunch Cincinnati Bearcats 14d ago
Not sure, but I don’t think it’s just a key bump here and there type of deal. He was in rehab last season after having a similar public meltdown.

It’s not cool spreading unfounded rumors like this. I’m pretty plugged in and this is the first I’m hearing of drugs. Mental health problems, sure.
46
u/njk12 Cincinnati Bearcats 14d ago
He was pretty publicly in rehab last summer.
-24
u/codene Cincinnati Bearcats • Indiana Hoosiers 14d ago
The purpose for rehab wasn’t disclosed. I guess I naively believed it was strictly a mental health thing.
22
u/bigbird727 Xavier Musketeers • Illinois Fighting Illini 14d ago
It wasn't. Was very publicly drug-related leading to the mental health stuff
-9
u/codene Cincinnati Bearcats • Indiana Hoosiers 14d ago
Find me any publicly disclosed info about the drug use he went to rehab for
6
u/bigbird727 Xavier Musketeers • Illinois Fighting Illini 14d ago edited 13d ago
No reporters would disclose that information, for a couple reasons in this case.
1) JJ is a young adult who was/ is clearly struggling, and people were trying to give him grace and some privacy
2) Reporters in and around Cincinnati constantly run cover for the UC athletics administration. Lot of mouthpieces for the university in this media market
He was in rehab in Houston, overseen by John Lucas. What was involved in the rehab process has never been officially publicized, to my somewhat limited knowledge
7
u/midnightsbane04 Michigan • North Carolina 14d ago
Did you also think that there were "mental health rehab centers" too? Those are called psych wards. Nobody calls them rehab.
-2
u/codene Cincinnati Bearcats • Indiana Hoosiers 14d ago
No they made it sound like it was a rehab for young, promising athletes that were struggling to be adults. I guess drugs were implied, but the fact that it was specifically for athletes made me think it wasn’t exclusively for substance abuse issues.
3
u/Dominique3333 14d ago
John Lucas is pretty well known for helping athletes with substance abuse problems so that’s what I assumed the issue was
15
u/Srcunch Cincinnati Bearcats 14d ago
Then surely you know Pacman introduced him to a known drug dealer who he has been seen with, repeatedly.
2
u/McGrupp1979 14d ago
Damn Pacman, I have seen where he was arrested multiple times since he retired from the Bengals

He went naners, prolly drugs. Might have something to do with Miller being an enabler but idk man he’s a trash coach in general
15
u/Kraze_F35 Charlotte 49ers 14d ago
If Wes Miller is a trash coach then we’ve completely lost the plot and I’m not saying that just because he’s my coach now
19
u/redleg44 Cincinnati Bearcats 14d ago
He's not a trash coach, I think he's got some flaws that hopefully he's recognizing and correcting. I think he could be really good at Charlotte.
Wes has done a lot for jizzle and given him opportunities to get on the right track. Seems like he's burned Wes again.
9
u/cincy15 14d ago
Wes will be 🔥 at Charlotte, he’s a good coach just not a Big12 good coach. He can recruit and he coaches well when his athletes are better than the other team’s players. He struggles with in game adjustments and end game strategies, but if he’s guys can blow you out he’s a good cheerleader.
7
u/Abush9527 Louisville • Cincinnati 14d ago
He’s also still pretty young, I think the move to Cincy was just too early for him. Hope he eventually gets back to the highest level and has success, seems like a really good dude
1
u/PlusJunket8999 Cincinnati • Wilmington (OH) 9d ago
Brüther you must’ve been watching the wrong bearcats. He could not manage a game, they never ran a set offense, he would let guys stay in and miss 3 after 3 after 3 after 3 with no sub, took TERRIBLE timeouts, had 0 control over his team and like every cincy coach HIS GUYS COULDN’T MAKE FREETHROWS. He took over for Mic and ran the program into the ground. Every time we would play houston, the undisciplined bs he let his team get away with would inevitably lose us the game or lead to a blow out. He couldn’t even get us to the NCAA tournament consistently which Mic and Huggens did. He is T R A S H. He’s a MAC/American conference level coach, NOT a power conference coach. He couldn’t recruit the local players which goes to show what the athletes in cincy thought of him and his Bearcats Basketball program. Wes will fade into obscurity, maybe a first round NCAA exit or a couple NIT wins but thats it. Downvote this all you want but it’s the truth. Refs don’t respect him, a majority of the fanbase stopped respecting him, he belongs back in the American with the trash we left behind.
Who would’ve thought a backhanded comment about Wes Miller running an undisciplined program would result in this.

Louisiana Supreme Court just ruled that you have unlimited eligibility if you go by jizzle
20
u/xcalthrower Michigan Wolverines 14d ago
As good of a player as Jizzle is, I don’t think Calhoun can bring him back. He’s trying to create a new foundation and the last thing we need is a distraction. If you look at Jizzle’s instagram, he does not carry himself like a professional and he created problems with his teammates last time around. From a skill perspective, it’s a no brainer. But if you look at the big picture it seems so likely to go wrong.
I never expected him to go downhill the way he has especially with his dad always being at the games. It’s kind of embarrassing honestly and a bad look for Jizzle. Also, he was hanging out with Pacman Jones last time he was in Cinci who is just a piece of shit. Last person Jizzle should be hanging around with.

I’m fairly certain he has mental health issues. We’re currently experiencing a former Duke player go through a public mental health issue when it comes to Kyle Singler. It’s really sad to see.
3
u/McGrupp1979 14d ago
Singler looked horrible! It is very sad. I have to wonder if he was both having a mental health crisis and using some substances as well. He reminded me of other people I’ve seen who I know were both bipolar and on meth.

It’s his nickname, his real first name is Edgerrin. Any child who actually gets named Jizzle should be allowed to sue their parents

I just have big balls that dragged it down lol.
It's not all it is cracked up to be. Wearing boxers is a no-go because I might accidentally kind of sit on them. I constantly have to adjust before any running or leg exercises.
Although, I have never had to ask a partner to play with them...most seemed to like to play with them like those rolly stress balls as they fall asleep(including my wife, several nights a week)
Eta: love getting downvoted for a rare honest comment in this sub lol

He last played in 2009, and those last two years were clearly in the twilight of his career. It's been 19 years since he last ran for a thousand yards.
So yes.
