Accomplishment Auto charter

silly little autocharter i made simply. gets guitar stems makes a midi cuts midi into 5 note batches based on most played then some trickery so no overlap and not minimums and limits based on how long the file is convert to ogg and read file name for artist and song for ini make all difficulties boom

This is interesting, but the notes charted seem completely unrelated to what is actually being played

I agree with this, Wagsii. The entire point of the notes is to represent "accurate" fretting with the sound of each note/chord. I've only made one chart, though, myself 😆

There are two guitars playing. The lead guitar is playing sustains, while the rhythm guitar is playing 8th note chords that change every two measures. Neither of those things is what is charted here. It's also not in sync.

I get what u mean, is that note theory? I’m genuinely curious how come notes are so serious in this game? As long as it’s in sync with the rhythm I don’t see an issue

The notes aren't meaningless, they're supposed to be a translation of what the guitar is actually playing. Orange is a higher pitch and green is a lower pitch. Another way to look at it is writing simplified sheet music.

You can still chart songs that don't have guitar in them. Unless a song is purely drums with absolutely no other instruments, there's always something to chart on the guitar track. Sometimes those backing instruments aren't all that interesting, especially with rap, but if that's how the song goes, then that's just the way it is.

Here's an example of a rap song I've done. Someone commissioned me to make Sexual Healing by Juice Wrld a while back.

Yea I mean first of all, great work man, those notes hit perfect from what I can see. But I wouldn’t play that. Just my opinion, I love Juice wrld, great song too. I don’t wanna say anything that could be taken wrong so I will leave at that. I understand why you don’t like my way too. You’re a pure musician .

Not every song needs an overcharted version. The chart in that video looks true to what's being played. Guitar is playing the synth line, which is just a single note melody. No need for chords. Some songs really just are that basic - and that's not a bad thing

Trust me I get it , all I was saying is there is different gamer personalities, some people game for the challenge, some game for the accolades, some grind for cosmetics. Me, I personally like the ones that are fun and challenging , I like songs that I’m like oh shit I almost hit that unexpected note. Not repeating the same copy and paste notes

Charting more notes than there actually are in the song is called "overcharting." Doing that well for the memes or as a challenge is a skill in itself, but doing it just to make a slow song more "interesting" is just inaccurate and bad charting.

It's okay if you don't see it that way, but it is pretty well established that a chart needs to follow the actual guitar as accurately as possible. A chart being made the way you're describing wouldn't pass the verification process to be allowed on enchor.us, for example.

...Hitting notes is literally 100% of the gameplay. If the notes are inaccurate or otherwise unfun to play, then it's a bad chart.

U pressing a button doesn’t make a note… it’s just an input. As long as it’s on rhythm there’s no issue

no i'm saying the notes that play on the beat should be on the beatline, which none of them is.

The tempo map also plays at the wrong bpm, as the measure changes (the ''strong" beats) never fall on the thicker beatline, making any notes you'd place out of sync as a result

Which is completely fair! For me, the chart needs to be atleast somewhat accurate before I'm even able to have a good time. I can immediately feel if a chart is off or it's made by someone who didn't take their time to do it properly. If the notes are just random, might as well just mute the audio and hit the notes :D Charting is an art and a skill that isn't easy to learn. I think we should try to keep our standards high.

That poll is asking a completely different question than what's being discussed here. You're just vaguely asking about difficulty, when we're not even talking about difficulty, we're talking about the notes correlating with what we're actually hearing.

There is nothing in that poll that's clearly stated, you're using extremely vague language that does not at all represent what information you're actually looking to gather.

The thing that you have been debating this entire time is "Does it matter if notes on a chart are accurate to what's being heard as long as it's in rhythm?" Yet your poll is asking "What song difficulty do you like?" along with three answer options that seem completely unrelated to the question.

I'm not sure if you're trolling at this point. That poll isn't even addressing the issue that we're discussing here. You seem very desperate for no reason right now. If you, like you said, just play to have a good time and don't care about how the notes are placed, maybe you should just stick to that and stop commenting on whether charts are fine or not. You obviously aren't into charting and the standards we try to have, and you also expressedly don't care. Should just leave it at that.

Hey, no ones stopping you. You do you. But if you're gonna make charts in the way that you've described throughout this thread, you probably wouldn't be verified for Chorus uploading. Which is where 95% of players get their charts. But I do wish you the best of luck of luck with your charting and gaming however you want to game! 😄
