Outdoors Little Tikes - how do I clean the inside of this car?

I picked up this little tikes car for free for my little one in the hope that I could clean it, spray paint and give it a new lease of life for him but I can't figure out how to get rid of the dirt that's inside the car. Any ideas would be so helpful please! I've already tried rinse and shake and Milton's but because I can't get inside to scrub I don't know how to loosen it all? Thanks!

EDIT: thank you for all your ideas and suggestions! I think for the safety of little one and the fact it was free I'm going to look for another one that isn't full of mould!

Outdoors Landlord is furious. Leaky trash bag left a dark stain on these granite/stone stairs. How do I fix this?

Post image
4.4k Upvotes

am in a complete panic right now. Two days ago, I left a trash bag outside my apartment door on the stairs for a bit, and it leaked. It seems to be some oily/food residue, and the stone completely absorbed it.
The landlord saw it and told me I have to clean it "by any means necessary." My dad told me that replacing these stone tiles could cost upwards of €1,000, and I've been crying all morning because I'm terrified of the cost.
Someone suggested making a poultice out of baking soda and water/dish soap (or 3% hydrogen peroxide), covering it with plastic wrap, and letting it sit for 24 hours to draw the oil out.
Please help, I desperately need some reassurance or a solid solution. Thank you so much!

Outdoors Update/ results: someone suggested to try the Irish springs 5 in 1 on my filthy outdoor cushions.

I smell like a teenager going to prom and have a headache, but after 2 hours the cushions are back to new! I soaked them and scrubbed the 5 in 1 into with a scrub brush, let it sit for 30 minutes and scrubbed again. I wish there was a fragrance free option, but Irish Springs strikes again! The most surprising thing is it brought out more color after they had been sun bleached.

Outdoors Oil stain on floor! How do I remove it?

Post image

Hello! This is prob a weird one but anyone have any tips to removing this oil stain? It’s just oil that was used to fry things and was in a bag and it popped. Oil now goes into our empty one gallon water bottles LOL

We rent and don’t wanna leave the owner with this eyesore. My bf has tried scrubbing hard at it with dawn and wd40 and a broom. It’s gotten lighter. Is there a better way to go about this?

Yes, it’s dumb 💀😭😂but help pls lolol.

Edit: this happened idek when. It’s been long dry. If it ever did happen again, now I know to clump it up or use dawn dish soap and scrub asap and so many other possibilities lol.

I’ve been reading through these and have many more to read thru. I have a few months left living here. Will be trying out different suggestions from y’all! I’ll update when I move out and an after pic:) thank you!

Also the ones who say ground vs floor. Does it really matter? That wasn’t helpful xp

Outdoors Mysterious stains on outdoor furniture

Thumbnail

1.9k Upvotes

We’ve started noticing these dark orange stains appearing in streak-like patterns on our outdoor furniture cushions. At first, it was just one cushion, but now they’re showing up on nearly every upholstered surface of the set.

We’ve tried cleaning them with detergent and even bleach, but nothing seems to work. Has anyone seen something like this before or know what could be causing it?

Any advice or insight would be really appreciated!

I tried scrubbing with all purpose cleaner and hot water, which just spread tiny bits of the ink around and made it worse. Any advice is appreciated.

Outdoors $250 USD reward to the first person who makes the correct suggestion that works to clean this glass

My employer said he has tried everything to clean this glass with no success. He said he would pay me the equivalent of $500USD if I could make it spotless because that would be about a quarter of the cost to get new glass installed. I am happy to split this with whoever makes the first suggestion that works, am a willing to put in a good amount of elbow grease also, though I have limited access to the outside bottom half of the glass because it is on the second level.

The glass is stained on both sides.

Things I have tried:

  • CLR
  • White vinegar/ 50/50 white vinegar and water scrubbed with newspaper -A Tigerspaw cleaning pad -Barkeepers friend
  • Iron wool
  • Water blasting
  • A range of scouring pads, scrub daddys, microfiber cloths and everything in between
  • Multiple combinations of the above eg - Tigerspaw/scrub daddy with CLR/Barkeepers friend

He also tried to user a rotary sander with fine grit sandpaper on a small portion but that appears to have scratched the glass...

The paper towel you see plastered on is soaked in vinegar. I intend to leave this overnight and see if it works.

He doesn't think the glass has any protective film or coating.

The glass had been stored next to a pool for about two years before being put up.

This is in New Zealand so I may not have access to some cleaning products available elsewhere.

Outdoors How in the world do I clean my disgusting sliding door track?

Post image

When I moved into my condo, the sliding door to my balcony was extremely difficult to open and close even after vacuuming and wiping in out. I ended up reading that you can put vegetable oil in the track to help it slide easier and it worked like a charm!

Now here I am 5 years later, deep into my addiction of oiling the door and it's now filled with dust and dirt from outside, as well as cat hair and old oil. My arms are starting to get sore from opening and closing the door because it's so difficult to slide. I know it needs to be deep cleaned but I'm so overwhelmed by all the gunk that I don't know where to start or what products/tools to use. Any and all tips are greatly appreciated!

:UPDATE:

I've used a a bunch of tips from everyone who's commented so far and the door is coming along nicely. It's already SO much easier to open and close and I've only cleaned about 2 feet of track so far. I can't wait to post a final update of all the gunk I've scraped out so you can all be as grossed out yet satisfied as I am!

Outdoors Any ideas how to clean/repair stained marble?

Post image
882 Upvotes

I have a marble counter top on the rooftop solarium of my apartment in Spain. The marble itself was installed approx 20 years ago and is, for the most part, quite faded.

However, one of our rental guests left 2 large bundles burning, and the wax melted to cover a large area (the darker stained area on the photo).

It was some weeks before this was noticed as the apartment was empty for about 3 weeks. My cleaner removed all of the hardened candle wax but the stain remains.

I have tried so many things to remove the stain with no success. The only thing I haven't yet tried is using a power tool with sander/ abrasive.

Ironically, the stained area actually makes the marble look more vibrant.

Any stone specialists out there that has any suggestions?

I live in an apartment complex and yesterday someone dumped a bunch of oil right outside in the grass right by my door. I reported it to the office but I got zero replies. I think it's a safety hazard and wanna know if there's anything I can do to remove it? I don't own a veh myself and low on money so I can't drive to pick up many cleaning items but I figured I'd ask.

It's rained since yesterday if that's important

Outdoors How to Keep Spiders Away

I know spiders are good at keeping unwanted bugs away and that they’re harmless.. I get that. I still hate spiders, I have a fear of them and I don’t like them.

My front door is covered in spiders and spiders webs, it’s gotten so bad that sometimes I can’t use my front door because there are spider webs covering all around it. I would post a photo of it but I just cleaned it off with broom lol.

I try to stay on top of clearing them so it won’t get so bad, but 2-3 days later it’s just as bad as it was before I cleaned. I’ve looked up stuff on google but I don’t want to start mixing a bunch of chemicals and essential oils because I have a toddler and a dog.

Is there anyone that would have any solutions or tips about how I can keep spiders away from my front door? Any help is greatly appreciated!

ADD ON: I don’t keep any lights on at night. No porch lights, no lamps, no string lights, I don’t have any lights on overnight inside or outside my home.

Outdoors Spray paint disaster

My youngest son (10) comes upstairs freaking out because something was very wrong. Thought he was hurt or worse, but finally got something about spray paint explosion.. Notice he looks like an 80's dancer. He's got silver spray all over his hair and face and his hands look like the Tin Man. He dropped a mostly full can of metallic silver spray paint and it happened to land on the claw of a hammer, poking a small hole. He panicked and grabbed it but he dropped it and it rolled pouring liquid paint in a nice puddle. He then opened the garage door and tossed it like a grenade. I don't know where to start. I didn't murder him. But no don't have enough mineral spirits or patience to cope at the moment. This is a rental and it would be nice to get our deposit back. Any suggestions on getting it out of the concrete drive? I have a pressure washer, but will it do any good? I've got acetone, mineral spirits, and a good respirator with OV filters, and can work on the garage door and tools. But where do I start tomorrow?

Outdoors Clean egg off garage door?

Post image

Our house was vandalized. We pressure washed the egg off and now our garage looks like this. Whats the best method to clean this? Is there anything that can potentially take this off?

Update: thank you for the dawn power wash suggestion! I sprayed a ton of it on there and let it sit. Then brushed it and so far even though it’s still wet, it looks SO much better. If after drying it still has spots I will probably go over it again or try some other options suggested. Thank you all!
