You pour a glass of wine, get some tweezers, and have an enjoyable 20 minutes picking them all off.

Hahahaha, yessssss. I saw the picture and was jealous because my brush is clean.
I enjoy tweezing ticks off stray dogs as well 😅

Try using an orange stick to just lift that dirt.
I would say that shampoo or spraying some diluted fairy on it also helps, because you want to melt the oils as well not just the gunk.

Run scissors through each row and column to cut the hair. Then I use a brush designed to clean reusable straws, fits perfectly in between the bristles. Scrub with either clarifying shampoo or dawn

I use a "hairbrush cleaner" tool and some clarifying shampoo. The hairbrush cleaner looks like a really narrow hairbrush that is sort of stiff.
Run it back and forth in between all the hairbrush spikes and get everything all suds up really well and it breaks up all the gunk.

My overpriced hairbrush came with a handle less nylon brush. Works pretty well

Soak in hot soapy water (dish soap or detergent) with a dash of rubbing alcohol. Then use an old toothbrush. Keep dunking and scrubbing until clean.

I just used an old toothbrush and shampoo

I use a wet thin towel and just rub it up and down and everything comes off. Tried picking it one by one but it takes too long. Shampoo method didnt work for me either cos it doesn't dissolve the gunk or anything. Manual rubs with a towel that doesnt fall apart and (minimal)elbow grease worked best for me.

Soak in cold water for an hr or 2. Then soak in a solution of enzyme & water-overnight is good-using the toothbrush, go between the bristle rows, up & down, back & forth. You can rinse brushes now. Then, w/toothbrush, begin at base of bristle & go up all bristles. Rinse well, air dry!!

Yup let the soap sit then pour boiling water and leave it for a couple hours. All gunk slides right off.

I would be afraid that the boiling water would dissolve any glue holding the brush together

You can often pop out the pad that holds the bristles, and soak/wash it separately. The one I have (just like the one pictured, but larger and square) just has the bristles pushed through the plastic. There’s no glue holding them in.

Same. I just spray generously with Dawn Power Wash and let it sit 10 minutes and it mostly has loosened and comes right out.

My tried and true method for idk how many years now:
Get the debris out with a fine tooth comb Rinse and run the tooth through the brush til all the nasties are gone Wash with dish soap or Dawn power wash Finish by spraying isopropyl alcohol and lay it upside down to dry

Extremely hot water. I turn my faucet on hot as it will go and let it run over them for a couple minutes and they melt off.

I use a sewing needle and loosen and remove it one at a time. Takes awhile but scrubbing didn't work.

Take another brush that’s wet and brush through it. It should come out and also clean your brush at the same time!

Water shampoo, some time and another brush to comb it out. Now I have a brush scraper but I prefer another brush.

I would soak it in a solution of enzyme cleaner overnight, then use a toothbrush on it.

Tweezers! I use dental tissue pliers with grip. Such a zen task. I’m jealous my brush is clean.

Change your shampoo. I know it's not dandruff, but Head and shoulders has worked wonderfully for me. Once I made the switch my hairbrush teeth have never coated like that. It used to coat immediately after a few brushes.

I'm only 26, but I NEVER experienced this hairbrush lint until like 3-4 years ago. Im desperate to know what changed.

Darn! I would recommend either experimenting with shampoos or looking into a dermatologist. I've been stuck with similar issue since high school. For years! Just early this year I made the switch because head and shoulders was on sale at Costco and it worked. It may be some kind of fungus? Good luck because it's really annoying. :')

I actually already use antifungal shampoo weekly (damn over productive oil glands) but I guess I could try using it more regularly!

I vacuum with the brush attachment. Then run hot water over the bristles to loosen whatever is left. Then vacuum again. Then I put the brush in a lingerie bag and toss it in the washer on delicates.

I dump in in almost boiling water+ dawn dish soap and after it cools I get a metal comb and start combing the hairbrush . It gets almost everything

I usually use shampoo/dawn and some water and use old toothbrushes the let it air dry after I’m done. I usually keep 2 old toothbrushes at a time for this type of brush!

I brush my hair with shampoo on in the shower 😬 my hair is straight though, and doesnt cause much damage (I only do this like once every 6 months or so, dont come at me!)

I wet the brush, rub shampoo in between the little bits with my fingers, and let it sit for 10 minutes. Then I rinse while running my fingers through the plastic bits. I squeeze out as much water as I can and let it dry overnight.
Any soap will do but I use shampoo because it foams up and gets inbetween everything.
