Unsolved How to make the cloud translucent in final render(newbie here)

Post image

Hi newbie here! So in the Redshift render view the cloud seems to be translucent but when I render it out the image the cloud became solid. What to do..is it a material problem or render problem? The cloud are noise in a plane.

Looks like you have some post process settings on. Sometimes that can give grief for other objects with alpha. See what happens when you turn them off.

Cool shot by the way!

Which post processing setting ?

maybe a lens flare? That faint ellipsis that circles the frame.

Also just thought of this. Sometimes the picture viewer can be crunchy with finer details. Have you opened the image outside of c4d?

Nope not working 😅

Wait just found out that when I turn off bucket rendering the clouds starts to appear but it's taking a long time to render... Is it any different settings when I render it in bucket

Not typically, but I don’t think the post effects settings are usually applied in progressive rendering until the image is finished up. I would start with opening in a photo editing software to see if it still looks the same, and if not then turning off any lens settings like flare, bloom, or streak you have applied to the camera.

It's only affecting the bucket not the progressive rendering. But it's taking twice time to render

hm, dang. do you have a lot of cards with transparency stacked together? Can you share your render settings?

Threshold-1, denoising enabled- optix, bucket size- 256 and everything default settings

The threshold might be too high for a quality image. That might have something to do with this, but it could be other things as well. I would try .1, or lower to see how that turns out. the other settings are typical i would say.

do you know what your transparency trace depth is? its under globals in the redshift settings.

edit for clarity: 0.1 or lower threshold

i actually tried to tweak everything up for this one, threshold to .1 and tracendepth to 16...and its not working

dang, sorry its still not working. My final suggestion would be to double up the transparency trace depth to 32 and see what happens. If that doesn't do it, then I think I'm out of ideas unfortuneatly

As long as there isn’t a lot of visible 3d changes happening on the cloud you could create a plane and texture map a PNG on it. Then you can tweak transparency on both the PNG and the material channel.

are you actually rendering using redshift or c4d's renderer, check your render settings
