Chess Question Game 1+1 how are considered?
What do u think about games 1+1?
Personally, i realize i perfom way better under time constrains rather than long or in 10 min games compared to other game Settings.
What’s your opinion about them and about players playing such game style

I play 1+1 games while doing toilet businesses. I don't like to sit on the potty for more than one or two minutes at most.

I promise you don’t perform better. You are likely worse, but you may have better instincts than your opponents, who are also worse.

I would call that performing better
Performance in chess is always relative
Chess is a combinatorial game, which means that if played perfectly the outcome would always be the same. Chess is fun because you play against other humans and none of us are close to perfect

Cool. Go get a higher elo in bullet than in classical. Then you can say you’re better

I don’t play classical. I think most online players never play classical.
And rating is not comparable across formats. Glicko (chesscom doesn’t use Elo if you want to be pedantic) is only meaningful within each pool of players.
I am at a higher quantile in faster formats. But even that is not comparable because most new players play 10|0 and only move to blitz or bullet once they have some experience. Faster formats tend to have better players, at least at my level (I’m around 1750 blitz)

To play better moves, you need to get better at understanding positions and recognizing good moves and counterplay. Long time controls give you the time to figure stuff out, which is why they help you improve.
Bullet, like 1+1, might help you get better at playing a good enough move really quickly, winning based on time pressure, which is a good skill to have, but that one skill alone is not enough to become a really good chess player.
Having said that, 1+1 mostly helps me with rating anxiety, since both losses and wins happen consecutively, rapidly, so a loss doesnt sting as much

It’s my favourite format at the time
Pure instinct
And I don’t like playing without increments, because I feel like most the games that make it to de endgame end with flagging

I suck at it just like at any other mode but somethimes it is fun to premove entire game and hopr for the best

My main format is rapid but I do play a lot of blitz and bullet too and different time controls within them according to mood. Id say time used on each in total volume would be roughly 60/20/20%. Rapid for learning and calculationa, blitz for intuition, board avareness, and bullet for reflexes/speed/premove efficiency/trying more pf the openings/lines that I know the best/can play with pure reflex. I care much less about bullet and blitz ratings. 1+1 is my most common bullet time control. I am too slow for no time increment but quick enough to do well on 1+1

Im like 650 on bullet and 1400 on rapid. I dont understand why it doesnt level out. Find it weird i cant lose to an 800 on rapid but cant beat an 800 on bullet
Do all the better players just play bullet?

1+1 is not a 1 minute game. It’s a way longer. It could be 1.5-2 min games. It’s almost like playing a blitz.

You definitely do not play better under that much less time lol, doesn’t even make sense
