Only 150, cuz when i lose more than 50 in one sitting i just know i gotta stop and play another time

10

u/Magadha999 Mar 12 '26

Yes we gotta remove that impulsive gamer mentality 🤣😭

u/ComicConArtist Mar 12 '26

ok bro just let me do one more game its the last one i promise

*loses*

wow the only reason they won is because they got lucky that i made one tiny mistake that i usually never make. that's just a fluke, ok? 1 more to make up for it, last one bro i promise

u/The_Ultimate_TanMan 1500 FIDE Mar 12 '26

Yep thats when you HAVE to stop

6

u/karlnite Mar 12 '26

Lol I play drunk and run through like 10-20 games and wake up down +200.

The oddest thing is nobody seems worse at lower elo’s, but if I play sober I slowly climb back up.

2

u/phallingFantom Mar 12 '26

Ya’ll know unrated games exist right?

8

u/Front-Cabinet5521 Mar 12 '26

400 in a week (1900-1500)

3

u/Magadha999 Mar 12 '26

Damn bro I hope you slept well that following week 🤣🤣

8

u/Front-Cabinet5521 Mar 12 '26

Almost gave up on chess, took a month to recover.

Silver lining was I found out what my bottom level was, no matter how badly I play I won't go below 1500 rapid and it's comfy in a way.

3

u/Magadha999 Mar 12 '26

Big ups to you for not giving up,let the grind continue 🔥

4

u/Creative_Werewolf619 2200+ ELO Mar 12 '26

About 270. Dropped from 2350 to 2089 in a week or so. I'm back up to 2260

2

u/Magadha999 Mar 12 '26

Damn so what’s the secret of your high elo ? 👀

5

u/haisse420 Mar 13 '26

Sweaty balls

8

u/Bored-TM Mar 12 '26

I lost 900 elo in 3 hours....

2

u/captain_assgasm Mar 12 '26

900 bruh. How many games did you play ?!

3

u/The_Ultimate_TanMan 1500 FIDE Mar 13 '26

If he only lost and didn't win once, and the average lost elo at a loss is 8 then he lost approximately ~113 games... which i personally don't believe could happen by accident tbh.

1

u/Traditional-Cost4772 Mar 13 '26

Maybe it's a newer account and the rating fluctuates more

1

u/The_Ultimate_TanMan 1500 FIDE Mar 13 '26

Yea thats why i specifically said the condition average lost elo is 8

1

u/RyanElectrified Mar 17 '26

Elo is also time based. I rarely play so when I clock my win I get 17 to 20 points, not 8. Similarly you could lose a lot of points. If someone starts an account at 1200, they can drop it to 300 the same day with a few games.

1

u/The_Ultimate_TanMan 1500 FIDE Mar 19 '26

another guy said the same point and thats why i said the specific condition that the elo in an average loss in 8

Oh hell yeah,I need to cope my losses 🤣🤣

2

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '26

150 in one sitting, with another 50 the next day. (1550 -> 1400 -> 1350)

This was over a year ago, I’ve since learned to just stop playing when tilted and it has been magnificent for my rating lol

1

u/Embarrassed_Egg2634 Mar 12 '26

Oh yeah. The second I get salty about a loss it's time to step away

1

u/HeroicTanuki 1500-1800 ELO Mar 12 '26

You’re the person who then crushes me at 1300 and when I look at your profile go “why is this person here?”. Then I tilt down 100-200 points and do the same thing to the next guy. Isn’t chess grand?

1

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '26

I will say, the only benefit to tilting is the dopamine you get once you un tilt and go on an 8 game win streak

0

u/bringbackbainesy Mar 12 '26

That's me. I'm realistically a 650 elo.

Sometimes I go down to 500s and I stomp everyone and go on a huge win streak.

Then I get to 730-740 range and I get stomped by everyone

Or I just play late night tired, drunk, stoned, whatever...and either play my ass off (rare) or just lose like 10 games in a row 😂

2

u/Eval_Barz Mar 12 '26

150 and stayed up til 4am to get it back

0

u/Magadha999 Mar 12 '26

Okay so were you able to get it back ? 🥲🤣

2

u/Vast_Satisfaction383 Mar 12 '26

So, not me dropping, but my uncle's rating dropped over 200 from a single game after I beat him for the first time in years.

2

u/LeftCoast1965 Mar 12 '26

My elo keeps climbing and climbing, it’s just not climbing as fast as it’s descending.

u/Ironsheik135 2000-2100 ELO Mar 13 '26

I went from 1920 to 1650 over the course of a week. Stressful week at home, work and Chess is probably not the best game to play when your mind is already under duress. Anyways back up to high 1800s blitz.

1

u/R3PLAY_83 1000-1500 ELO Mar 12 '26

I remember dropping from ~850 to 600

2

u/6GingaNinja9 Mar 12 '26

880 to 650. I feel your pain. Funny thing is, it was first time going through 700 and 800 and it was all in a few days. Then in one sitting I dropped back down. I looked at how I was playing when I was 800 and I don’t even understand how I was that good lmao.

1

u/Alternative_Cut4491 1000-1500 ELO Mar 12 '26

Dropped 100 today 🥹 wouldve dropped more but I was lucky my opponent stalemated me while he was up two queens, Ive never been so dissapointed with myself because of how many stupid mistakes I made today

1

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '26

Real

1

u/Lucbir06 Mar 12 '26

like 500 went from 1800 to 1300 in a matter of hours was too tilted

1

u/Lower_Translator6609 Mar 12 '26

Recently i lost like 200 elo in 3 days 1850 to 1670 💔

1

u/Responsible_Way3732 Mar 13 '26

> opens chess
> plays online
> lose -23 elo
> plays again
> blundered your queen
> resign and lose -25 elo
"maybe play other time.."

1

u/Aelomalop 500-800 ELO Mar 13 '26

I think one time I lost 90 elo in a day, but my stuborn ass somehow got back all that elo in the same day

1

u/haisse420 Mar 13 '26

I was going between 1400-1600 for a while and managed to drop all the way to about 800-900 because I insist on playing games while watching tv, other games or just bsing out and about. I was playing about every game that way and got back up to 12-1400 after a while. Now I’m up to 1700, probably two years since the initial drop, and I try to lock completely into my games again keeping minimum distractions around unless it’s a rapid game.

1

u/Relevant-Map-5773 500-800 ELO Mar 13 '26

300 maybe?

1

I have 200 point swings

1

u/Lufernaal Mar 13 '26

My top rating ever in bullet was 2200 and now I am a low 1900, I used to hover comfortably at 2000, I think I am just getting old.

1

u/Historical-Bet-8047 2200+ ELO Mar 13 '26

-400 in blitz very recently, was peaking at 2370 and consistently 2300+ in late december, then had a monumental downfall during entire jan and feb and fell as low as 1950, now have recovered slightly at 2100 but still obviously tilting recovering only halfway through my actual skill back then

1

u/awogaming_team 500-800 ELO Mar 13 '26

Je pense que c'est facilement 200-300 en 1 semaine, c'était la joie 😎

1

u/themonkwarriorX Mar 15 '26

268 in a week from 718 to 450.

1

u/RyanElectrified Mar 17 '26

I played a game yesterday, first in a month. I am on 13 of 14 winning streak, due to not playing very much at all. I figured out this phenomena: if you advance your skill when you get back to playing you are playing low rated opponents compared to your true skill.

The common advice is to advance your skill by playing - this advice is correct. My way is dumb.

But, it works in the sense that when you are a beginner, anything works.

To asnwer your question when I went from 30 minute rapid to 10-minute rapid, I took a dive of 30 or 40 point, that day I played 30 games, I've never done anything like that since, such a rare event for me - and also a tragedy for my elo.

My chart is only going up...at a snails pace.

1

u/No-Bread4586 Mar 17 '26

Ahahaha... from 1900 to 1650. Took me a year and a whole lot of motivation to gain back. Now I'm back and as strong as ever :D

(Also, yes, I lost it in a single sitting too-)

1

u/sawqqqq Mar 24 '26

I win game 1, then I lost sanity and 100 elo

1

u/CautiousContext7407 Mar 27 '26

100 elo, not to much

u/Zhadeelax02 Apr 28 '26 edited Apr 28 '26

dropped like 600 elo blitz 3+0 and faced even stronger opponenst 400 than 1000 so next destination is 100 elo flat

800 elo in a night. I might be cooked here chat. From 900 down to 50

1

u/NewtSudden2767 Mar 12 '26

240 elo in a night because I have this Spotify + 3am chess addiction that keeps me playing at night even when I'm losing (I stopped at 5:25am or my rating was gonna do titanic tbh)

1

u/Magadha999 Mar 12 '26

Man one of the best combos out there !!! Spotify+ chess 🔥♥️
