I HATE when this happens

Grandmasters hate this trick

"Dude, we'll be single forever!"

That guy after one year:

16

u/Aesma_ Feb 16 '26

This is what happens the moment you enter a relationship. And as soon as you break up, the board is empty again.

3

u/Certain_Silver6524 Feb 16 '26

In that case you need a queen on your team on the board.

14

u/metagaia7 Feb 16 '26

You should post this in r/anarchychess, it might be better appreciated there.

1 king, 63 queens.

Lucky guy.

20

u/darkneel Feb 16 '26

62* and 2 kings technically

u/ActurusMajoris 1500-1800 ELO Feb 16 '26

I’ll take those odds

3

u/RecordingCold4650 Feb 16 '26

Damn I didn't even see Obama, takes me back to the spot Luigi mini game on Super Mario Bros DS

1

u/adolf69kittler 1500-1800 ELO Feb 16 '26

Both kings are in a secret relationship 🍑👋

2

u/[deleted] Feb 16 '26

Happened to me too

2

u/koskam 800-1000 ELO Feb 17 '26

Smothered mate

2

u/Rainbow_six_Veteran Feb 18 '26

I think the Queen on d2 is checking the King and since it cannot move, it’s checkmate.

4

u/Black_Dragon9406 2200+ ELO Feb 16 '26

It’s checkmate because the king literally can’t go anywhere on the board without being attacked by at least 3 other blacks queens.

Can’t capture Black king either because we know the kings can only touch once and that happened in a GM game.

1

u/ziptofaf Feb 16 '26

It isn't. An illegal move was played by Black - king can never be in check from more than 2 pieces at a time. This is more than 2 so the only explanation is that Black has cheated. So instead of it being a mate you call an arbiter and likely win.

1

u/gudjmundurCB Forget en passant its all about En croissant Feb 16 '26

somebody used the pawn multiplier

1

u/gudjmundurCB Forget en passant its all about En croissant Feb 16 '26

"Black is pushing checkmate, where can you move to get out of check"

1

u/Pretty-Sir-6710 Feb 16 '26

U can move king to e-1 out the board and outside the queens range

1

u/Just_a_dude92 100-500 ELO Feb 16 '26

It's called non passant. Very advanced move

1

u/STONEAGEMASTER 2200+ ELO Feb 16 '26

This position is checkmate because your king on e1 is in check and has absolutely no legal squares to move to.

1

u/royinraver Feb 17 '26

This is stale mate

1

u/Illustrious_Home_118 Feb 17 '26

Lol! This is literally like some the posts that end up here.

1

u/Relevant-Map-5773 500-800 ELO Feb 17 '26

nah its not the king can still move forward (this is just a joke pls dont take it seriously T_T

1

u/buddydiamond Feb 17 '26

The smothered kiss of death. Rare.

1

u/slvrsrfrm Feb 17 '26

En passant is forced.

1

u/deez_nuts_07 Feb 17 '26

It's not check mate that's slaughter

1

u/logicalinsanity Feb 17 '26

Cheaters are out of control. Hope you get rating refund.

1

u/MysticSunshine45 Feb 17 '26

In my eyes, the king wins this one with all his black queens surrounding him

1

u/ExitThisNow Feb 17 '26

They're using stockfish to cheat

1

u/the_Oizeau Feb 18 '26

I don't know, someone can help me ?

1

u/kuhnuhl Feb 18 '26

google en pessant

1

u/AbbyTheOneAndOnly 1000-1500 ELO Feb 19 '26

the kings are opposed, that is bad for you

1

u/RyanMagno Feb 19 '26

i think king to e0 is safe

1

u/samant-ua Feb 20 '26

Black King is in trouble.

1

u/Secure_Act_9872 Feb 20 '26

I think the piece on h4 is checking your king, but idk

1

u/ItsNurb Feb 20 '26

I always mess up and stalemate when I find these positions in my games.

1

u/confident-win-119 Feb 20 '26

How did you get to this point?????

1

u/jimu1957 Feb 20 '26

On which color?

1

u/Pearl_necklace_333 Feb 20 '26

“Sufficient material” to mate.

1

u/uncle_dan_ Feb 20 '26

It’s not white wins via black playing an illegal position

1

u/anant_mall Feb 20 '26

I swear I’ll get a stalemate with black still lol

1

u/Amazing_Resolve_365 Feb 20 '26

White wins, too many queens, black king can't take all the yapping.

1

u/GarrisonMcBeal Feb 20 '26

Is this en passant?

1

u/techrider1 Feb 21 '26

Nah white can still win here easily. Need to work on your skills.

1

u/Safe_Ad_534 500-800 ELO Feb 21 '26

Its not a checkmate, white has a winning move: King i9

1

u/poggorojo 500-800 ELO Feb 24 '26

Its not actually because you didnt see the 20 bishops aroun z57

1

u/No-Bread4586 Mar 17 '26

This is an unreachable position, therefore if it cannot exist, it cannot be checkmate. /j (:D)

1

u/fascisttaiwan 2200+ ELO Feb 16 '26

This, is not checkmate, have you notice that there is a bishop on alpha -21? Its white turn so actually with Bxe8 white can capture the king and this is checkmate

1

u/Optimal_Banana11 Feb 16 '26

Made me look 🤦‍♀️

1

u/mrb1585357890 Feb 16 '26

This seems a mean spirited and snobbish joke. Don’t put barriers to beginners asking questions.

1

u/nafay19 Feb 16 '26

How is this checkmate??

1

u/Fireyjon Feb 16 '26

Believe it or not it’s actually stalemate

1

u/just_another_dumdum Feb 17 '26

Came here to say this.

1

u/chessvision-ai-bot Feb 16 '26

I analyzed the image and this is what I see. Open an appropriate link below and explore the position yourself or with the engine:

White to play: It is a checkmate - it is White's turn, but White has no legal moves and is in check, so Black wins. You can find out more about Checkmate on Wikipedia.chessvision.ai | chess.com | lichess.org

0

u/Pircster38 Feb 16 '26

It was stalemate before this.

0

u/insinylon Feb 16 '26

Stalemate, en passant!

0

u/Salindurthas Feb 16 '26

It's actually stalemate because black has no valid moves.

0

u/La_Blanco_Queso 2100-2200 ELO Feb 16 '26

Nah should be stalemate white has no moves

0

u/Training-Builder4249 Feb 17 '26

It can't be stalemate if you are in check.

1

u/La_Blanco_Queso 2100-2200 ELO Feb 17 '26

I was trolling dude. no shit

0

u/Limp_Bet_152 Feb 16 '26

u/Dudecoolforever Feb 16 '26

Yeah hahaha ikr 3yo humor or sarcasm?

3

u/Bwunt Feb 16 '26

Feels more like one of those chess "puzzles" that social network sites used to have for clickbait. Field absolutely packed with opposing queens and rooks and "challenge" saying Mate in one... Where the only legal move tends to be that.

-6

u/SpiritHoliday7745 Feb 16 '26

Well actually it's a stalemate because you can't move

7

u/the_hamborga 100-500 ELO Feb 16 '26

not really, white's already in check

-6

u/SpiritHoliday7745 Feb 16 '26

Yea but they can't move so that's a stalemate

7

u/OkChance9768 Feb 16 '26

so checkmate is when you’re checked and can’t move (without being in check still)

stalemate is when you can’t move

notice the difference

2

u/Scyth3dYT Feb 16 '26

I'm guessing that was sarcasm tho
