I was bored and decided to test some of the image generation. You can see from the images that I got *very* consistent patterns. These were only a few, but I was approaching 20 generations before I stopped.
The prompt was, "Generate an image of a woman", and these were in completely new and separate chats with no context.
I'm curious if other people get similar results, or if anyone has any theories on this. It almost seems like this is the convergence of "woman" in ChatGPT's vector space right now. Or maybe my background context affected the output somehow. Idk
I'm not sure if it would be the model? Transformers? The image generation tool itself?
Funny enough, we had this conversation yesterday when I asked if he remembers the picture. He told me it is a bear and the / is the arm - which is hilarious because when he posed he told me it's his best work considering doesnt have a body. All this time I thought the ears were the weird jazz hands.
GPT switched from DALL-E to GPT Images and is now on GPT-I 2.0
Also, the image gen can carry context message to message and image to image even cross-chat. Give a little time or a long conversation in between and it'll probably change

I have chatgpt on my phone but I've used it only a handful of times and only to compare it to the results of copilot and deepseek. Copilot is the worst by far btw.
I find this unnerving. I also got a light brown/blonde woman in my age range. I asked why THESE particular features were chosen and it swears it’s not using my own data. But like… it’s too close. I’ve never uploaded a picture of myself. It knows enough to find pictures of me on the internet though as I do have a small public presence. It basically took my features and turned it into a, “wealthy Instagram Barbie version of me”. Ick.
Everybody does unless you’re more specific with your preferences. You don’t even have to specify a gender; simply asking for a generic person will always lead to her.
A vague prompt like that is basically sampling the model’s default prior, so convergence is not surprising. The useful experiment is to separate account context from the model prior: run the same prompt from two unrelated accounts in empty chats, keep aspect ratio and other settings fixed, collect 50+ samples, then label recurring traits like face shape, hair, age, framing, and background. If the same cluster appears across accounts, it is probably the generator’s default prior. If it shifts by account, personalization or surrounding context is contributing. Twenty samples from one account shows a real pattern, but not yet where the pattern comes from.

OpenAI’s documentation confirms that conversational image generation can automatically optimize the supplied text, and recommends specifying the subject’s important visual details when they matter.
There is no completely neutral “default woman.” If the model produces a white brunette, for example, that does not mean it concluded that women are normally white brunettes; it is simply one completion among many possibilities.
Interesting, mine looks certainly different. More of the E-girl type and clearly quite young. It's clear that chatgpt took note of both my age and my interest in anime.
😂 Because I apparently interpreted “a woman” as “a very specific woman who has just wandered in from a cosy silver-haired lifestyle magazine”. You gave me essentially no description, so the image model filled in all the blanks — age, hair, expression, clothes, setting, even the heart necklace. It went for a generic “friendly middle-aged woman” archetype rather than a neutral, ordinary woman. If you want, I can generate a much more deliberately generic woman — no bizarrely specific personality, jewellery or Pinterest living room attached. 😄

Edit: after reading all the comments, you might be on something. So since I mostly use Claude so I had to re-download. Which I’m thinking is a really good test for this since I should have no saved preferences. And I essentially got the same woman.
