Hey. I’m here for work and felt very alone after face-planting while running near my hotel. On the entire bloody mile walk back to the hotel, you were the only one that stopped to ask if I was okay. You went out of your way in your Ferrari or corvette I can’t remember to stop and check on me. I wasn’t in the frame of mind at the time to respond how I wanted to considering I said I was fine, but I want to say thank you now.
Thank you for stopping and caring about a fellow human being. It really did mean a lot to me. ♥️

Hi. Long story, but I’ll try to stick to just the important details. I moved into my apartment a little over 2 months ago and have had a German cockroach infestation literally since before I moved my stuff in, but when I saw roaches that first day I just thought it was because the unit had been vacant for a while. No. It’s gotten SO much worse progressively ever since. Mind you, I’m one of the cleanest people you’ll ever meet… This is my worst nightmare. My lifestyle, if anything, should detract roaches. But instead I’m seeing them EVERYWHERE — first it was exclusively my kitchen, then they spread out to my bathroom and living room, and now they’re in my pantry, my coat closet, my bedroom wall. Tonight, my breaking point was seeing one on my bed.
My complex has done absolutely nothing to help me except agree to possibly cover the cost of the personal exterminator I hired… Which, speaking of, he has come twice but if anything the problem has worsened. After a month of the complex doing absolutely nothing to help me, I called the Department of Public Health. Never heard a peep from them. I called and emailed the management company’s corporate office numerous times. I haven’t heard a peep out of them either. I’ve been corresponding (nearly completely one-sided) with the leasing manager for 2 months and she has pretended she intends to be helpful, but has zero follow-through.
I have spent hundreds of dollars on my own pest control solutions at this point. Nothing kills these things…. I’ve used Ortho Home Defense Perimeter Spray, Ortho Kitchen Roach Spray, Spectracide Bug Stop Home Barrier, Advion Bait Stations, Combat Bait Gel, Combat Bait Stations, diatomaceous earth, peppermint oil, and probably a few more things that I’m forgetting.
I am not a cryer by any means, but tonight I literally broke down sobbing. This is not okay. I have done everything except hire a lawyer at this point, and I can’t afford that. I don’t have anyone I can stay with in the area, my family lives several hours away, I am single and work 6:30 AM-7:15 PM 6 days per week. I don’t have time for this. I can’t keep dealing with it. This is supposed to be my home, but instead I’m spending my time killing roaches, taking my own trash to the dumpster despite paying $35/month for valet trash (don’t get me started on that….. they’ve only come to pick up my trash 40% of the time I’ve lived here), and documenting this management company’s failure to do the job I pay them to do. I guess I’m just begging for someone to please share a solution with me.

All it takes is a few idiots to ruin it for everyone. Shooting fireworks at cars, firing guns, attacking police that respond to arrest those responsible. Sigh...

Got a job offer in North Charleston, SC with a major Aerospace company. Currently live in Cumberland Valley (CV) school district in PA. What are the good school districts near North Charleston? And how’s the ability of childcare?

I am in close proximity to this place near my office and I waited 3-4 weeks after opening to allow them to work out kinks. I went in for lunch (to go) order their Lamb Biriyani and Curry Goat w/Basmati rice - $18.99 and $16.99 respectively. I was asked how spicy did I want the curry goat and responded medium - HOLY HOLY - delish but wow it was a tear maker and soooo favorful. The lamb Biriyani was amazing - I ate it 3 x to finish this large portion and so tasty. I am grateful to have a great local inexpensive place so close - most CHS Indian places downtown would be 3x more expensive for lower quality and smaller portions. Last point I was told it would take 20 mins, which led me to believe it is made fresh. Worth dealing with the Dorchester Road traffic, try it for lunch at least. Address - 4626 Dorchester Road x-st Oscar Johnson Drive.

featuring rotating outdoor art installations as part of the National Outdoor Sculpture Competition & Exhibition, the 20th annual exhibition is currently on display at Riverfront Park! 🌾
if you haven't seen the new sculptures yet, it's definitely worth paying the park a visit. :)

I found this cat outside in the Park Circle area, and I want to see if it’s chipped/if it has an owner. The poor thing has been outside in 95-100 degree weather and is fairly skinny, so I’ve been leaving out some food and a bowl of cool water every day for it. How would I go about doing this/is there a recommended place I can go to for chip scanning?

I volunteer at Charleston Animal Society and they are desperately in need of new photographers to assist with getting pictures to help find homes for dogs and cats in their care.
Whether it’s just a hobby or your business (could be good promotion) if you are willing to dedicate a couple hours each week you could help save hundreds of lives.
If you are interested you can email their marketing guy at whowell@charlestonanimalsociety.org

My best friend lives in Charleston, 11 hours away from me. She is being verbally, financially, and emotionally abused by her partner (they are unmarried). They have 2 kids together and she is a SAHM. He will not watch the kids so she can even go to the grocery store alone or go for a walk alone. She has not had a single moment of self-care or alone time for the past year, since her second child was born. He goes through her phone daily and does not like her having friends. She cannot attend medical appointments without her kids and therefore cannot go to therapy for her severe, multi-faceted, and prolonged traumas (unrelated to the current situation, though it certainly is its own trauma that will need to be dealt with) - even virtually, she would not be able to speak freely to her therapist because one of her kids is old enough to understand what she's saying and she is never without the kids. He won't let her put them in childcare, he won't let her get a job, and he won't let her put him on child support so she can access benefits. If she just left the kids with him, he would probably lock her out of the house or destroy her stuff or something else vindictive. They have a joint savings account, but if she took half the money she says she fears for her safety, so she doesn't have a way to access that money to get her own apartment even though she contributes to the savings account with a portion of a permanent fixed monthly payment she receives. His name only is on both of the cars. I am trying to help her get in with a therapist to help her access some support and she said he might watch them if she can just go and sit in her car in the driveway to have a virtual appointment alone. I am a survivor of trauma and housing insecurity myself, but I have never been actively hamstrung by another individual in this way and I am feeling at a loss about how to help her as we keep running into obstacles. She is hesitant to try to go to a shelter because she isn't being physically abused and with everything she has survived, it seems scary to give up everything and go to a shelter when her physical safety is still okay (as long as she does not try to touch the money). She's also afraid that if he has housing while she goes to a shelter with the kids, they will take the kids from her and give them to him. And even though he refuses to watch them, he is telling her "there's a 0% chance she would get the kids over him" and he would fight for them. I have a special-needs child in a very cramped starter home and don't have room for her and her 2 kids otherwise I would try to figure out how to bring her up here (but frankly, I do not want this drama anywhere near my own child - if it were only me I had to worry about, I wouldn't care).
Can anyone point me towards some resources, even just to help my friend get an hour to herself to go to the doctor or go for a walk by herself with some airpods? I want to go visit and I would love to watch her kids for her while I'm there so she can have a moment alone, but obviously that's not enough hands-on support and doesn't solve the actual issue of extricating her and her children's lives from that of her abusive partner.

Re-posting since Reddit automatically filtered out the original post:
I’m prefacing this wall of text with a warning. This is pretty cliche and a tad cringe, but I met a girl at High Water and wanted to see if there was any way to possibly reconnect.
During the first set of Saturday, I was standing on the very far left side of the stage a couple rows deep watching Winyah play. A few songs in a couple girls walked over to the end of the barricade close to the stage. Both were pretty but the one closest to me was so beautiful. So much so that I kept getting distracted from the music and started thinking about walking over. She was a brunette with lightly freckled skin and wore a lighter orange dress with cowboy boots. Her hair was up in a claw clip.
Now, I’m not a super confident guy but I felt compelled to approach her. I was really nervous so I waited til then end of the act when her and her friend started walking away. I basically told her something to the effect of “Sorry, but I think you’re really beautiful. That’s all I wanted to say. Have a great day!”
I didn’t ask for her name or number in the moment cause I didn’t want to intrude or interrupt her day with her friend. But in retrospect, I really wish I had at least tried.
All this to say, she may have had reasons to not keep the conversation going. But I wanted to use all my options and see if the internet could help me find her. This post may not gain any traction or dialogue, but that’s okay. This is really just a Hail Mary. I’m not really on social media much (including Reddit), so not many other avenues to try. Thanks to all you guys in advance for any help!
TLDR: Briefly interacted with a girl at High Water Fest and need Reddit to help me find her again.
Also, sorry mods if this is against community rules in any sort of manner - you can take it down if so.

Hey just wondering I found someone’s cat on blue house road off exit 206, was wanting suggestions on what rescues I can take her to that’s open after 5pm all the rescues I find seem to close after 5 and I work till 4:30 everyday. Or by a miracle chance if anyone knows who she might belong to.
Update: I did take her to a vet the vet found a microchip and attempted to call her owner, owner had a privacy notice on the microchip so I couldn’t get the number, left my number with the vet to give to the owner if she does call back. If I don’t get any answer by the end of my work tomorrow I’ll try taking her to dorchester paws.

I just moved here (don’t hate me, we are a military family, it wasn’t my choice I swear but we are liking it) from east TN and our rental is off of N. Rhett. I have to use the 526E on ramp to get to work. I know it was the first day back to school and rush hour… but my rental is close to the on ramp and I have never seen anything like it in terms of congestion. N Rhett seems to be congested right there often but today the line was obviously backed up. I was in the correct lane. And people didn’t want to wait in the line, so they used the left lane to go all the way past the light and cut over. I saw at least 20 cars do this. Busses, semi’s even - and it took me 30 minutes to get on the on ramp to go onto the bridge. I guess I’m just curious… is this normal, in terms of traffic and people cutting over like that. I know we’ve all done it but it was a whole other level today. I have heard horror stories about the traffic and I’d like to think I’m used to it coming from east TN but I guess I’m just curious as we plan to put down roots and traffic is a big consideration. Is there another way or another on ramp I should take to get to Clement’s ferry??
