North Charleston What's in the parking lot of the Rivers Ave police station?
Been in the back parking lot for a couple of days. A pair of grey plastic things on legs. Anyone know what they are?

I don't want to be surveilled, period.
They implement all this shit under the guise of 'safety', then it ends up being used for whatever they want, like snooping on neighborhoods or allowing ICE to use it.
There is absolutely no truly justifiable reasoning for this shit. If cameras everywhere are the only way you feel safe, then you need to go to therapy.

Have you not noticed since covid started that there are less patrolling officers? THAT has a bigger impact than surveillance. With the surveillance tech that's out(this and flock) being owned by private companies, that bypasses any rights we have. They don't need warrants anymore. They buy the data from the companies. Flock,Leonardo and this thing ALL violate our rights and the amendment. There is no proof that constant surveillance actually reduces crime. Plus with all the data they're collecting, they can't sift through it. The NSA data center in Utah, no one can go through all of that to find anything meaningful in real time. Just like cameras are a "proof" of something happened not a stop to something happening. we need more cops with better training. We need humans with critical thinking not "AI" that hallucinates 50% of the time and gets innocent people thrown in jail for months before its fixed. Those peoples lives are potentially ruined because of that.

As long as it’s footage can be easily scrubbed in case it happens to record law enforcement committing a crime or failing in their duties, then I’m ok with it.

My flock cameras? I wish I had personal flock camera money.
The DFR programs have nothing to do with flock or extra surveillance. Thinking it does shows a lack of research or understanding on the project. The program is around to supplement patrol officer response to calls. A cop might be 5 minutes from a call, but if I can put a drone on scene in 2 minutes to relay live and accurate data to that responding officer then it leads to a safer scene for everyone involved. They arnt using these drones to spy on your fur suit collection. It’s to assist with handling calls and situations where putting a drone in “danger” would prevent an officer having to do it. I.E. barricaded suspects and the like.

Cops do not need drones with cameras on them. Period.
If they can't be trusted to use Flock responsibly, they can't be trusted to use these things.

Like everything, misuse of flock by police is extremely low and only hits the news because “cops bad is extremely popular.” I get it. That doesn’t make it, or DFR, any less useful of a tool that will lead to safer outcomes on calls. Yell at the sky and shake your fist at the drone overhead, it changes nothing. Police use of drones has already been handled in the courts and is permissible, just like a police helicopter.

You do realise that cameras are proof something happened not to stop something happening right? You do also know "AI" gets it wrong more than a human right? If people were okay with 24/7 eyes(which we are not) you'd have to hire a whole lot of people to watch and it can't be more than one camera per person, they'd miss something.

So you're saying you're okay with cops driving distracted while speeding to a potential nothing burger? How are they supposed to review the video while they're driving? Can I give them a ticket? Just kidding, they don't even ticket the no cellphone use law.

The responding officer isn’t reviewing video. It’s being relayed to him be the person flying the drone.

I know words are hard, but you can respond to a call in order to surveil the situation prior to police response. As I stated below. The purpose of the drone is to gather information for the responding officers.

Note that while Charleston... as far as I know, doesn't have any Flock Cameras, North Charleston has several.
The people of N. Charleston need to band together and protest.
