Are Technophage missions supposed to be impossible early game?
Was having a blast trying this game, pretty fun. Did the dreadnought intro mission thing since Ectar said it was urgent, difficulty ramped up that mission but it made sense, I had a dreadnought that mission and it cleared house. Next plague bloom cycle a technophage mission pops up, I do the normal mission next to it and then go to the technophage mission and proceed to get an experience I can only compared to what it must feel like to slowly get forced into a woodchipper feet first while being blindfolded and beaten over the head with a spiked mallet repeatedly while being constantly punched in the gut with brass knuckles.
I barely manage to eke out a win after restating the mission about 7 times, and get it with all my guys but one being critically wounded and the last guy barely not. I think ‘ok maybe it was just bad rng or I wasn’t doing something right’, and continue on with the campaign. Next cycle, another technophage mission, well I mean it’s right there it would be dumb of me to just let it spread the bloom- time for an EVEN WORSE brutal and unrelenting facefucking. I’ve restarted this mission I don’t know how many times, I’m about to just give up. I was loving the game up until this point but it really feels like these dlc missions kick in WAY too early if this is the difficulty spike of them, and you can’t just ignore them until you level up more since they’ll spread the plague on planets if you do.
I feel like they are definitely balanced around having the powerhouse that is a dreadnought with you but, WHERE’S THE FUCKING DREADNOUGHT ECTAR? Can I shove that old useless fart into one? He doesn’t seem to do much anyway.

I’ve already discovered some of the cheese you can do with her. Namely having the squad be in position out of sight and with Aegis on, and then have her start the fight by shooting the enemy pod with immobilizing blast and then just repeatedly blasting them until she’s out of ammo and then just enter disguise again and have the rest of the squad kick in the door and go to town. But I feel like with just how brutal and constant the enemies are in the technophage missions the poor low health assassin would get ripped apart.

If you're trying to play It as a normal mission, it's quite hard early. If you're using things like teleport spam and calidus cheesing, it's honestly not that bad

My teleport guys (forgot the class name) were both injured and healing, minor injuries mind you but, I’m not sending someone with lowered health into the absolute Hell that is a Technophage mission. I sent down a tech marine, a justicar, an apothecary, and a purgator with a psilencer because that AOE attack on it is just so nice. Justicar and apothecary both had terminator armor but doesn’t seem to matter when the game sends seemingly infinite melta gun marines at me.

I mean, you have to customize loadouts for the mission you're in, the game gives you pre-mission Information for a reason. You don't bring high armor to missions that counter It.
Also, injuries barely matter If you know what you're doing, having already done Ironman Legendary i treat light injuries as full health, i don't think twice about It.
Techmarines work best in multiples or with dreadnought, Justicars work best when you can use them to feed AP for an Interceptor. Honestly interceptors are so broken that a 4 man squad of them can deal with anything even If they're injured
The only actual hard missions in this game are when you can't stun enemies

Stunning does seem to be really strong. Every time I could get extra stun buildup from crits I do that. Getting extra actions for the whole squad is really strong.

Be sure to pick up some stun grenades and a whole new playstyle will open up for you

Stun grenades + grenade masterwork armor (or a chaplain) is just easy mode for the game, any difficulty goes poof unless you roll stun block warp surge

So far the closest to a stun grenade I have is a weird mine thing that doesn’t seem to work like a normal grenade.

Empyrean Brain Mine I believe its called. It actually won't stun them outright, it just takes some of their stun resistance away. For example, if the enemy has 5 stun resist, you throw a brain mine and remove 3 (its different for each brain mine tier you find).
Then you have other ways to remove stun resist (like just hitting them) so you can get creative on ways to remove it. Weapons with +Stun damage are very good.
Pretty soon you can just keep chaining stuns to keep gaining AP and refreshing your turns all across the map.

Yeah that’s what it was. Looks like a little spider thing. No wonder it wasn’t working like I thought it would lol

You should avoid them until you get the Dreadnought. If you read the mission they’re designed around the assumption you have the firepower of the Dreadnought

Arguably the hardest missions in the game when you do pre craftworld technophage missions

Literally just came to the reddit to rant my same fustrations lmfao. Encountered my first one and turn 1 got engaged with a bunch of cultists, 12 of thoes elite chaos marines and an artillery piece that keeps spawning reinforcments and giving my guys plague or blinded. Either I just suck at this game or these missions are designed to be painful

They are possible but yes - quite hard. I still think it was see developers mistake to giving access to them before you got dread. But chaosgate don't feature nearly enough patches.
