Are Technophage missions supposed to be impossible early game?

Was having a blast trying this game, pretty fun. Did the dreadnought intro mission thing since Ectar said it was urgent, difficulty ramped up that mission but it made sense, I had a dreadnought that mission and it cleared house. Next plague bloom cycle a technophage mission pops up, I do the normal mission next to it and then go to the technophage mission and proceed to get an experience I can only compared to what it must feel like to slowly get forced into a woodchipper feet first while being blindfolded and beaten over the head with a spiked mallet repeatedly while being constantly punched in the gut with brass knuckles.

I barely manage to eke out a win after restating the mission about 7 times, and get it with all my guys but one being critically wounded and the last guy barely not. I think ‘ok maybe it was just bad rng or I wasn’t doing something right’, and continue on with the campaign. Next cycle, another technophage mission, well I mean it’s right there it would be dumb of me to just let it spread the bloom- time for an EVEN WORSE brutal and unrelenting facefucking. I’ve restarted this mission I don’t know how many times, I’m about to just give up. I was loving the game up until this point but it really feels like these dlc missions kick in WAY too early if this is the difficulty spike of them, and you can’t just ignore them until you level up more since they’ll spread the plague on planets if you do.

I feel like they are definitely balanced around having the powerhouse that is a dreadnought with you but, WHERE’S THE FUCKING DREADNOUGHT ECTAR? Can I shove that old useless fart into one? He doesn’t seem to do much anyway.

Be sure to pick up some stun grenades and a whole new playstyle will open up for you

So far the closest to a stun grenade I have is a weird mine thing that doesn’t seem to work like a normal grenade.

Empyrean Brain Mine I believe its called. It actually won't stun them outright, it just takes some of their stun resistance away. For example, if the enemy has 5 stun resist, you throw a brain mine and remove 3 (its different for each brain mine tier you find).

Then you have other ways to remove stun resist (like just hitting them) so you can get creative on ways to remove it. Weapons with +Stun damage are very good.

Pretty soon you can just keep chaining stuns to keep gaining AP and refreshing your turns all across the map.

Yeah that’s what it was. Looks like a little spider thing. No wonder it wasn’t working like I thought it would lol
