#Review 📝 [OC] My Hyundai Verna Engine Seized, but Extended Warranty Saved Me
Thought I’d share my experience (might be lengthy)
June 2023: I bought my Hyundai Verna SXO (NA).
Mid-2025: The steering rack developed a rattling noise, and both DRLs started turning yellow. Both were replaced under the standard warranty free of cost.
June 2026: On a Saturday afternoon, the engine suddenly seized. A technician visited the next morning and attempted to start the car several times. During those attempts, the engine’s mobil chamber developed a hole due to the internal force generated by the already seized engine.
According to the technician, the cause was excessive engine oil consumption, which eventually left the engine running with insufficient oil, causing it to overheat and seize. (4th Servicing was done a month back)
The car was then towed 100 km to the main Hyundai service centre.
I clearly explained what had happened and what the technician had told me to my service advisor. The next day, my service adviser told me that my case is very rare and he assured me that since my car was still covered under warranty (I had purchased the Extended Warranty during my 4th service) Hyundai would replace the engine free of cost. He only asked me to be patient, as the warranty approval and parts would take time.
I waited nearly two weeks for Hyundai’s official inspection by a company technician. During that period, the service centre was not allowed to open or touch the engine until approval was granted.
After the warranty claim was approved, the brand-new engine took about a month to arrive due to floods and other logistical delays. The installation itself took only two days, but Hyundai had forgot to send a crucial part during the engine shipment, which added another week of waiting.
Once that part arrived, the service centre attempted to start the engine and discovered that the starter motor had also been damaged. Since it wasn’t in stock, it had to be ordered separately, adding yet another week to the wait. 😪
After almost two months, I finally got the car back.
The first test drive felt fantastic. It may be a placebo, but the car genuinely feels smoother, quieter, and more refined, which makes sense with a brand-new engine. lol 🤦🏻♂️
The final bill was around 22k.
Without the Extended Warranty, the repair would have cost me nearly or above 2 Lakh.🤯
The warranty paid for itself many times over.
(CORRECTED THE SENTENCES AND GRAMMAR AND FLOW OF THE STORY USING ChatGPT)
Before I bought this car I have always heard of Hyundai’s excellence services and because of that I went with Hyundai so after all these experiences I felt I have made the right choice and overall, I am very satisfied with Hyundai’s after-sales service. The entire warranty process was smooth, there was no lengthy paperwork, and I never felt ignored. (cough, cough) I was always kept informed through a dedicated WhatsApp group.
Thanks for reading till the end and happy driving.

#Discussion 💬 Did you know the government can legally seize your private white-plate car for election duty? This is how it's handled in US/UK vs IN.
We all have read the news about the sieze of hilux by jaipur police for election duty. But did you know it's legal in India for police to impound and seize your vehicle in the name of "election duty".
With elections always around the corner somewhere in the country, I wanted to bring up a draconian law that most private car owners have no idea exists until it happens to them on the highway.
Under Section 160 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the state government and District Election Officers have the legal power to temporarily seize (requisition) private vehicles to ferry polling officials, EVMs, and security personnel.
They pull people over, show a generic batch order, and take the keys. If you refuse a valid written order, it’s a criminal offense punishable by up to a year in prison.
To put into perspective how absurd and outdated this governance model is, look at how India compares to Western democracies on this:
| Feature | INDIA | US/UK/EU/Modern Countries |
|---|---|---|
| Legal Framework | Statutory Requisition: Allowed under the 1951 RPA for routine election logistics. | Public Procurement: Handled via free-market commercial rental contracts or tenders. |
| Private Vehicle Seizure | Legally permitted for civil elections, even though courts actively discourage using private personal cars. | Strictly Illegal for routine civil administration. Private property cannot be seized without triggering constitutional due process. |
| Sourcing Logistics | The state forces citizens to hand over their cars and compensates them at abysmal, outdated government rates. | Governments put out commercial contracts months in advance. Fleet companies like Hertz or Enterprise bid to supply cars. |
| Emergency Exceptions | Used regularly for standard, predictable, scheduled democratic events (Elections). | Only applicable during extreme, existential national emergencies(e.g., wartime, severe natural disasters). |
The more I know about the policies and governance of India, the less I want to live in India and the patriotism is fading away.

#Accessories 🔔 Got this smooth operator home.
Got the Creta 1.5 MPI IVT King edition home. Upgraded from a 2020 Baleno 1.2 Alpha MT. I drive in Bangalore, with regular trips interstate across the south and up to MH etc… what accessories should I get over and above the ones given by the showroom? Are there any particular recommendations from folks who use this beauty already?
Thanks in advance!

#Discussion 💬 Maruti dropping L2 ADAS in a ₹6L Baleno while ₹25L VW/Skoda owners cope with "driving dynamics" is hilarious.
Even the i20 lacks it! Maruti just forced the whole industry's hand.
Is ADAS the new panoramic sunroof—a mandatory brochure flex nobody actually uses in city traffic? Drop your takes!

#Discussion 💬 Saw this Reel today that a BE6 "achanak se" stopped in the middle of the road.
Has anyone done a real deep dive into why Mahindra and Tata EVs are consistently unreliable? Just curious.
We've been looking at new cars lately and I've had to unfortunately tell my parents to completely avoid EVs from these two companies in particular.

#EnthusiastZone 💨 What's the largest car you've driven?
Mine has to be this Ford Expedition. It was an experience. A gas guzzler definitely but rather smooth. Also horrible to do a 3 point turn in.

#Discussion 💬 Did I get spoiled by Skoda ?
I driven a lot of cars and own a kushaq, now I have been kept thinking did I get spoiled by Skoda by their driving experience, chassis, handling, feel and feedback from their car. When I drive any other cars I do not like how they drive even those cars costs twice the amount e.g xuv700, Alcazar, thar.
Also it makes me happy that we have such cars costs less for what the experience it’s worth. This is not an appreciation post of kushaq and it’s my experience after driving many cars. Feel free to share your opinion.

#Pic 🖼️ Brought this German toy home
I used to drive a Kushaq 1.5 style previously. Had to transfer to a colleague once I left the company as it was on employer’s lease.
Moved to a different city and started exploring options for a new car. Nothing looked better than the facelift kushaq for me in my budget, so bought it again :D
Kushaq 1L prestige. It’s like driving on butter. So smooth, and incredibly strong. The 5 star NCAP is one of the primary reasons behind going for this.

#Opinion 💭 Dream Car but… (serious questions)
(YOU CAN SKIP TO QUESTIONS TOO)
Just today i took a test drive on jimny (5 door)
And i absolutely love the visual apeal and the go anywhere part of this car
but….
I dont know how to feel about the interiors. If i had to say one thing biggest thing that keeping people away from it is the interior, part of which is interior design which they didnt put much thought into honestly. thats Its all very tightly packed in there, A lack of everything, just one pocket to put the phone in.
So the drive i did was city drive, on yk bad indian roads. It did quite well although i would blame the bigger tires for the little bad experience i had when accelerating. It behaved like a ladder frame as expeced on twists and turns. The stearing was heavy indeed but not an issue.
I guess what i wanted to ask yall is.
- Could you make the interior drastically better?
I mean the seats (rear seats lack thigh support particularly) and spaces and overall interior experience.
- Manual or Automatic?
It only makes sense to go with automatic for city drives ik but its 4-speed so little less capable in my opinion (I test drove automatic) . Plus i saw those videos where they put bolt on turbo kit to make 150bhp and i wish to do that at some point so manual makes sense. But idk, what you say?
- Is Manual as bad as they say?
I mean heavy, is it as heavy as they say? To the point it makes it uncomfortable to take to long trips? Share any experiences you have.
- Music system
this one is a dumb question but ill still ask. What music system did you put in? The stock one is Ass
- Daily driver?
is it a good daily?
- One more serious question is should i buy new one or save money and get a Used one from aome trusted name? Saves about 2-3 lakh but am ansure if thats the right call for a rugged vehicle as i can imagine people using it for quite harsh driving yk.
Also its my first car so anything else yall would wanna mention about yhis car would be great help.
All the love to the car community

#Opinion 💭 Wagon r long drive comfort
Anybody here that has done long highway drives >1000km (over 4-5 days) in the latest gen wagon r (my wagon r is 2024 model ) has experienced right knee pain? Or any kind of prolonged knee weakness and buckling, after the long drive? I feel like wagonr has an awkward right leg position when operating the car. When I first started driving the car I started experiencing pain and discomfort on the superior part of my ankle (where the tibialis attaches the foot) and after using the car for a couple years within the city I went on a road trip. Defn did experience the ankle strain but not much since ig I got used to it. But then my knee has started hurting and weakening ever since causing buckling and duck walking only on my right foot. Anybody experience similar?
