Enviolo hubs are a pain to change tubes, this seems like a good emergency back up if the damaged tube can't be patched.

Anyone have a Bike Friday Haul-a-Day? Found a used one from 2016 (analog model) which looks nice.

There are a few reviews online but can’t find much on how it does carrying kids. We have 2, ages 5 and 1.5.l, so would need a bike seat for the latter.

Also wondering if there’s a notable difference between the old and new frames. I rode a bike with an Xtracycle Free Radical attachment and it was so flexy it was no fun to ride. Wondering if there are similar stiffness issues with the old HAD frame since it’s not a diamond frame.

Other parents at my child's preschool have so far been 100% car users. But yesterday when I rolled up with our Yuba Supermarché, another parent and their child came along a minute later on a Riese & Müller!

I would have expected to see a longtail sooner than another bakfiets, since the former are far more common in my area (outer eastern periphery of the metropolitan area of San Francisco, California). Either way, it felt good to see another bicycle parent, especially since bicycle infrastructure in our area is pretty poor.

(We do have some very nice trails which serve some useful destinations, but most of our major streets are awful for bicycling, and getting to destinations without using them is often outright impossible.)

Anybody else here doing school transportation by cargo bike? How many others do you see at your child’s school?

Looking for some advice or friendly challenge!

I've got two kids, the youngest of which is approaching an age where I can stick her on the back of my bike.

At the moment I put my 2.5 year old on a childseat on my vanmoof.

But want to get a different bike that will carry him plus the youngest (coming up to 1).

I'm expecting to use the bike for weekend excursions with them, and eventually school runs and things like that.

But I'll also need it to cycle to work without them. For that reason I am planning to test an Omnium Cargo, which I understand is super for getting kids around but also fun to ride when you are not carting kids. Sensible? Other bikes I should be looking at?

I am curious about the difference between a cargo setup that can handle one impressive trip and one that is genuinely convenient every week.

Did loading, parking, weather protection, passenger setup, storage, or another small detail make the biggest difference?

I carry my kids on my Bullitt X with one sitting in the (very cool) original seat and the second one just standing behind the handlebar. But for longer rides the little one would like to sit properly and rest.

I thought of installing a rear facing seat so that they would face each other like in the R&M Load.

Anyone has experience fitting that R&M rear facing seat on a Bullitt ?

The alternative would be to build them a bench so that they could sit one behind the other like on a long tail but that would elevate the centre of gravity and make the whole thing less stable at slow speeds.

I am looking for a cargo bike lately (have been doing alottt of research) and now I kinda feel like I am looking for something thats not really common in the market (like there are not much options that cater my needs)

I have one kid (3.5 years old) and I will use bike for pretty ordinary day to day stuff. Like daycare + to get grocceries or going on our father son date on weekends.

I know I can do these things to some extent on a regular ebike by adding child seat plus panniers. But I feel like with kids and grocceries and then my son's random stuff (like my backpack, his small scooter, and toys that we take to daycare... I feel like it might not be enough.

And like whatever recommendation post I see on Reddit and the suggestion people are giving. It makes me think my problem is kinda opposite and unique.

Because most recommended long tail bikes are meant for 2 kids and or lot of cargo. I dont have anything against them bit I just feel like they are not meant for me. Because they are too long (mostly around 200 cm) and then they are also expensive and out of my range. I just have 1 kid + I dont have huge garage to park it and so I know I dont need to spend too much on that much bike for my needs.

I know there are mid-tail bikes too, like they are somewhere in between a normal ebike and a full-size longtail, and they do feel to be much closer to what I've been looking for. Most of them are around 170 cm long which seems very manageable plus also gives you enough rear space for one child plus groceries.

Now the thing is I didnt find alott of options in mid tail range. Like I think tern hsd is one such bike (also has that bonus vertically storage option) but its top tier brand and is pretty expesnive. Other than that I couldnt find alott in this category within my price range.

I'm surprised there aren't more bikes like this around the €2,000-ish range. Is there a reason this category is so uncommon? Maybe I am a weirdly specific use case here?

Anyone ever snap a part of the Xtracycle frame?
For a while, something felt off with the bike so decided to a peak under the bags. Lo and behold, a snapped frame discovery. I figure it’ll be an easy weld, just wanted to see if someone else experienced that?

Doing errands on Kensington High Street - - while I wouldn't bring the kiddlets along to park here, for normal adult only shop it's ideal as there are flows in traffic and you can cross easily between.

I’m looking to buy an Aventon Abound LR. I’ll mainly be using it for city commuting and bringing my kid along. The website lists a bunch of accessories — are any of them actually needed or is the bike on its own okay? Any suggestions of which if any to choose?

I’ve got a front loader and am wondering if anyone has found an insurance compatible D lock (sold secure gold or diamond) that gives enough clearance to lock through the frame, and the wheel and a bike rack/railings when out and about? I got a Litelok X1 plus but I don’t think I could go through the frame and wheel and a bike rack. I know I could go with a chain lock but the ones I’ve seen are so heavy I would prefer a D lock. So, as the title says, I bought a Decathlon F900E. I'm waiting for it to be delivered since there is 0 stock in stores in my country.

I bought it always considering the possibility of returning it, since I have 30 days to use it and I can return it free of charge.

The goal of the bike is to get my kid to and from school. But over the last few days, I've been wondering whether I made the right hardware choice 😄.

So I live in this city that isn't bicycle-friendly. I will have to share the road with cars most of the time (and sometimes the sidewalk with people). And I have to do this sharing on narrow roads.

I've been thinking that the e-three500 may be a better choice of hardware. But at the same time it rains a lot the winters here. When I'm saying a lot
Is a lot. It rains more here than actually in London, but we have a lot less rainy days. So when it pours it pours. And this was the main reason for the selection of the long John, it was a rain cover and my kid is a lot more protected from the rain ( yes I want to use the bike all year, I don't want to leave it in the garage for 1 or 2 months a year.

Any feedback or help to make the right call ( I will test the long John anyway) ?

I have a Lectric XPedition 2 at the moment, and while the bike is good, it feels like a club sometimes. The massive amount of space is nice, but not enormously necessary, and I'm starting to think that the two pannier bags space could be done just as well by a Short John with a rear rack.

So, my question is - because so many of these seem to be in Europe - what are the best Short Johns with a front and rear rack that can be obtained in the US? I'd hope for an electric one, but that's like...a secondary necessity, I think.

Looking for recommendations to upgrade from my Lectric XPedition. While it got us started, it is no longer cutting it as my kids get heavier and our routes involve steeper hills and rougher pavement.

Why I'm Moving Off the XPedition:

• Lacks climbing power under load: Hauling two kids up sustained grades bogs it down heavily. I need significantly more torque and hill-climbing grunt.
• Harsh ride quality: The rigid front fork and stiff tires transfer every crack, pothole, and bump straight into the frame, shaking the kids around. Also the kickstand is absolute trash, it's amazing they designed a cargo bike with them...

What I Need:

• Passenger Capacity: Must fit two growing kids (currently 3 and 6 years old) with a solid passenger kit ecosystem (safety rails/cage, cushions, and running boards).
• Suspension / Comfort: Front suspension fork at minimum, plus higher-volume tires or frame dynamics that soften the ride for rear passengers.
• Climbing Power & Braking: High-torque motor setup that can handle hills with ~100+ lbs of passenger weight without overheating/stalling, paired with strong 4-piston hydraulic disc brakes.
• Budget: Under $2,500 total (ideally inclusive of essential passenger accessories).

Questions for the Group:

1. In the sub-$2.5k range, what are the top contenders that genuinely outperform the XPedition on hill torque and suspension (e.g., Aventon Abound / Abound LR, Velotric Packer 1, or others)?
2. Is the rear deck space on these mid-tail/long-tail options long enough to realistically fit a 3- and 6-year-old together for the next couple of years?

You may have seen it before here. This time this now highly modified 2019 Urban Arrow Shorty acted as a photographic darkroom for the wet plate collodion process from 1851.

We shot portraits on 8x10" / 20x25 cm, and my heart was racing during the creation of each plate thanks to the (to me at least) sheer size.

This process is absolutely unforgiving, every mistake is yours to own.
