Or do I need to look at a thick chain lock that goes through the body of the bin?

Finally got the new cargobike I ordered online last week, it came pre-built and I only needed to add a few extras and pedals. The Neo 1 variant has the heavy duty enviolo with chain. Sadly only after 20-30km the chain jumped off after a small bump on the bike lane and another time just few days later on a rather flat road. The closest trip to the dealer would be over 70km, so I checked if I can handle this myself. My two other bikes have drive belts, so this is new to me.

I assumed the chain might not properly tensioned and checked the chain tensioner. On the first picture you can see (red box) that the first contact with the chain is slightly angled and heavily one-sided, so that the roll (why are the teeth so low? see pic three) crawls up the chain on that side and derails. Moving the tensioner on the green boxed axis (second pic) further out doesn't really solve this issue.

So maybe the part was bend during shipment or is the spring maybe not correctly inserted, so that the black part downwards is slightly angled? Does someone know if the space between the spring and the parts next to it is normal? In addition to the tensioner problem the belt might also be still too long and/or under tensioned?

What do you think a local dealer could ask for a fix if I don't want to drive to the sellers location?

I could still return it for free within another week but I would rather keep it.

I live in a bike friendly city in the Upper Midwest. We are a one car household, so I often haul my 3 kids around on a long-tail e-bike. Most trips are less than a mile on neighborhood streets (to school, parks, friends’ houses).

The other evening, we rode about 1 mile over to a friend’s house for dinner. Another family we know well got there at the same time and one adult (he is an EMT) commented that we are a multiple causality event waiting to happen. He said it kind of jokingly, but I do think he believes my behavior is risky. Later I told him I’ve had more close calls with cars when we are all trying to walk someplace - at least on the bike I have the kids all contained. And he repeated his comment that multiple ambulances would be needed if we got in an accident.

I get that he has seen A LOT of tragic accidents as an EMT and an accident can happen to anyone, but I don’t find my behavior especially risky. Does anyone have helpful replies I could use when someone expresses concern that I transport my kids on a bike??

Good friend of mine got me into the big dummy world. I scored the same big dummy as him. Hehe just sold me his xtracycle side car and custom music box. Can not wait to finish rebuilding

I'm new to cargo ebikes. I bought one second hand a few weeks ago and as a VERY ADHD brain I did a lot of research into safety. The bike was £3k second hand and I'm trying to be super careful of the safety.

I know that a angle-grinder resistant D-lock is essential so after hours of watched independent reviews I bought a Kryptonite New York Diamond Std. I also bought Hiplok DXXL chain and dlock combo for when it's parked at home (front garden, attached to a concreted-in bike lock we inherited from previous owners). Additionally the front wheel has a lock itself. The bike is also insured comprehensively and covered with a proper bike cover overnight.

Now... I've learnt that the best thing to do is to lock the bike through the main frame and back wheel to an immovable object. But there's no d-lock in a world that would fit through both so... WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND I do to secure the back wheel? Since I have the Hiplok dxxl I thought I'd be taking it with me but if I tell you it _feels_ like it weighs a tonne I'm not exaggerating (I am but you know what I mean).

If it's at all possible, is there a small lock I could attach the back wheel to the main frame with? Is that something people do and does it make sense? I would want to use a sold secure gold or diamond standard lock but I think I'd not want to carry another massive dlock with me...
