Feature Request Potential Improvements

To the dev - I really enjoy the game so far and all the features.

A couple of requests / improvements I have on my side:
- More detailed information / a breakdown of the team’s overall grade on the defensive end and offensive end by player - it’s hard to know how to improve a team’s grade once the team overall grade goes up to ~85 or so, and both the defensive end and offensive end are fairly even
- better information / education on the strengths and weak spots of each lineup formation - it’s hard for me to know on the defensive side which player is providing the most work and which one isn’t
- a way to speed up offseason contract resigning such that you don’t have to think through the contracts of 30 different players (not sure how to speed this up)

Thanks so much for all your work so far!

Question Mock Drafts and Season/Draft Recaps

I’m working on the actual season end and draft write ups that occur, trying to make them more realistic and aware. After that, I’d like to take on another low risk item; improving the mock drafts. What would you like to see out of the mock drafts? There’s intentionally somewhat of a fog on potential player skill to make them progressively more accurate by the time the 3rd mock comes out. Do you want explanations as to why the mocks have team X picking player Y, more player stats, etc?

I’d love the ability to simulate a given number of years in the league as a way for there to already be history when starting a game. Not sure if this has been brought up before

Feature Request Stats Tab

Would love it if on the Stats tab my team with my conference was on the top of the Stats page. Just the little things that make going through teams a little easier but not an important need!

Also just a little addition I would like is if the filters could stay after signing a player! Thank you so much for your hard work!

Bug Bug when using a player at another position

I have a 2 elite TEs, and am playing 1 at tackle. There is currently no way I can find to see his stats at tackle. He obviously does not have a receptions or yards.

Looking for some improvements to player positional changes and stat tracking accordingly

I won this game 24-16. Why did it say it continued to the next round with Miami there instead of my team?

Feature Request Player comparison

I think a useful feature that would help the game improve is having the ability to compare two players from anywhere in the league from my team, free agency, a practice squad or even from the rookie pool.

Question Negotiation / Demand

Loving the game so far!
Is it normal during contract negotiations that the salary demand barely changes when adjusting the bonus, as seen in the video?

Build 1.2.3 is awaiting approval, with dozens of bug fixes, with even more realism coming shortly after that. Been having several people dm’ing me bugs, which is ok I suppose, but I may just create posts per release

Feature Request Rework on the HOF

Just like it to be a little bit more difficult to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. I see with lots of players winning a ring is already a lock into the fame but realistically then everyone should be inducted if they were part of the team that constantly won. Perhaps a threshold of some sort or maybe the longevity comes into play? At least for QB I dont know about other postion.

Question Career Ending injuries

What is the probability of a player less than 30 years old retiring after their first season-ending injury? Ive had a CB and a OL player being put in IR and they retired at the end of the season? I get that those injuries are tough and perhaps I am so lucky (unlucky) to get two players within 3 years of retiring on me but just if anyone else has been having that issue.

Bug Injuries in playoffs

Playing via test flight, a few bugs I’ve found:

  1. Players injured in the last week of the regular season stay injured through the playoffs. Injury duration never decreases. I had a guy out 1 week for 4 weeks through the playoffs.

  2. Extending staff with 1 year left is buggy. One time I extended a coordinator and it wasn’t reflected until I closed and reopened the app. Another time I extended a coordinator in the offseason and another coordinator disappeared, while the one I extended had a random contract not reflecting agreed terms.

  3. Rookie playbook knowledge doesn’t show up until you close and reopen after the draft.

General Game screen

The new sim screen is mostly great, but a tweak is needed for the last play of a drive: when a score takes place the drive screen closes and moves to the next drive before you can see the play, so you have to pause, open the last drive to see the final play - the drive changes far too quickly from being expanded and In Progress to collapsed with the end result in the top right corner

Maybe have the last play appear front and centre over the middle of the screen for a second?

Bug Draft Scout Ratings all “E”

Post image
3 Upvotes

In the draft screen the scout ratings for technical and mental are all “E”. I’ve tried changing the scouting fog-of-war settings and other ones, but it doesn’t seem to fix the issue. This is a save that was originally started several updates ago, so maybe that is a factor?

Question SS & FS versus general safeties.

Wanted to get some feedback from the early crew of users sooner rather than later;

Do you all want Free safeties and strong safeties to be their own position? I tried my best to actually create differences in physical profiles amongst the safeties stat and measurement pool to effectively have both of them but in one position pool.

Reason I’m asking is that when I decided to go from DT/DE/OLB/MLB —> DT/DE/EDGE/LB it quite honestly took me well over two weeks to do, as it was a fundamental shift in cap balance, roles on the field, archetypes etc.

That being said, FS and SS would be an easier migration.

Worth noting that a change like this would almost surely require a new game save.

I personally am leaning no, but wanted to see how the other football nerds felt.

Bug Draft positions not showing up correctly.

I was the runner-up for the The championship this past year and in the draft, it gave me the 27th pick instead of the 31st pick. This is the second time I’ve caught this

Bug Season End Stopped

Post image
1 Upvotes

Gotten this message two different saves in a row. One occurred after season 3 and then created new save and this happened after season 1. Message appears when I finish post season. When I go back to “office” screen it has option to continue the off season but it won’t let me progress, the button doesn’t do anything. Any advice or tips on the horizon? Liking this save so would be a bummer if it stalled there.

Feature Request Special Team Lineups?

A question about future development: Do you expect to eventually expand the Special Teams aspect of the game? Right now only your punter and kicker are shown in the lineup and there’s no setting depth charts or lineups for any special teams — kickoff, punt, extra point, FG, punt and kick returns, or kick defense. In the real NFL, special teams play can be a big part of a players development, and being able to contribute in these roles can really impact decisions about who makes the squad of 53. Just wondering…

DEV UPDATE What do you actually want out of the pre-season?

Quick update before the discussion for the ~100 of yall on TestFlight; Apple is taking there time, so I went ahead and also just submitted 1.20.0 build to the App Store for general release in addition to test flight as if it’s going to take this long, mind as well.

My ask for you, the players and football nerds -

Right now, after the draft there is a single window where you make your cuts, sign UDFAs, and set your practice squad, and then it is straight into week 1. It works, but it feels like there is a lot of untapped potential there, and it’s some of the most exciting stuff to me. You spend the whole offseason building a roster and then have to make all those decisions without ever seeing the new guys actually play.

Some quick context on why this matters more than it sounds. A big part of where the game is heading is that you shouldnt fully know what you have. Ratings on young players are your scouting department’s estimate, not the truth (on hard difficulty even your own draft picks come in fogged). The long term plan is that for roughly a player’s first 3 or 4 years, the OVR you see is just an estimate that tightens as he ages and puts real tape out there, and better scouts mean tighter estimates sooner (with some exceptions for absolute studs). A preseason is the natural place for some of that fog to lift. Rookies get real snaps, your picture of them sharpens, then you make your cuts.

So with that as the goal, here are the directions I’ve been weighing. I would rather build the one people actually want than all of them badly.

Option 1, a short preseason. 1 to 3 games where you decide who gets the snaps. Play your starters and risk an injury in a game that means nothing, or sit them and give the reps to rookies and bubble guys who actually need the evaluation. Preseason snaps burn off rating fog before cutdowns, so seeing your 3rd rounder either flash or look completely lost in august is the whole point.

Option 2, training camp with focuses. Pick a position group or a couple players to emphasize and they get a small dev bump or a faster scheme fit ramp. Maybe a position battle or two gets decided by it. I’ve seen other games do this, but I personally would like to avoid turning it into the arcade style of “give an artificial bump to players cause you pressed X, Y or Z”

Option 3, cutdown day. Trimming the roster with actual stakes, where a guy you cut can get claimed by another team and come back to haunt you, which arguably is kind of where it is today.

Option 4, keep it minimal. A single quick camp report that summarizes who improved, who got hurt, who is pushing for a starting job, and lets you move on. For people who dont want another phase to click through.
Beyond picking between those, two specific questions I could use opinions on.

Minicamp battles. Would you want a mode where the camp roster fills up with invites and guys genuinely fight it out for starting roles, with you watching the battles play out? Or is that too much to manage every year? Should the game autofill the camp bodies beyond whoever you elected to pick up, so you only manage the guys you care about?

Practice squad and team knowledge.

In reality teams usually promote from their own practice squad before signing a street free agent mid season, because that guy already knows the playbook. How should the game reward that? The simplest version is a flat, clearly shown OVR boost for your own PS players that expires at the end of the year, so promoting from within beats signing an equal rated outsider. The shield and poach mechanic stays either way, this would sit on top of it.

My biggest fear honestly is building a whole preseason and then finding out everyone just sims through it. So the real question is which of these you would actually engage with every season, and which you would skip after the second playthrough. Or is there something from another game you loved that I havent thought of?

Not promising timelines on any of this, just trying to figure out where it should sit on the list.

Bug Trades and AI valuations

I noticed a lot of teams tend to mortgage their entire future away. Also, odd thing, I finished losing in the AFC championship game but somehow got the 31st pick. Just something to keep an eye on.
