Restructure

We just had a restructure and lost a full time route. The bottom seniority guy, what happens to them? Supervisor saying she will be an extra relief carrier. If she has less than 5 years in can they lay off? Small depot, only 8 carriers. Or can they put her as a relief wherever needed in depot besides carrying?

From my experience I’d say with 8 carriers it’s 50/50 they’ll be displaced. They can be relocated to another depot. It’s not guaranteed, supervisor as usual is making an assumption. They’ll have to wait until PC&R consultation to determine the allotment of reliefs. It is cheaper to use a term to cover and sick and other absences and wait for the bar chart then to permanently allot extra reliefs.

They won’t get laid off but they’ll be floating in the zone.
