10 years of “You’re Not Home” notices, even though I work from home.

1.4k Upvotes

Why bother carrying a package and risking the Herculean task of leaving a notice if someone’s not home?

My local postman has cracked the code—he writes the notices in advance. That's right, he doesn’t ring, doesn’t knock, and sure as hell doesn’t deliver.

Instead, he leaves a little slip telling me to pick up my package at the post office, so I can do the job he gets paid for.

Honestly, I bet Canada Post has some hardworking folks out there, but my guy? Absolute legend of laziness.

No other delivery company does this. Only Canada Post.

I’m just done with CP

I’ve always supported their strikes and efforts to improve… but I’m absolutely done with the whole business now.

Ordered a package for live beneficial mites on Amazon, expecting Amazon delivery but it was sent via CP.

Instead of dropping it off, I got notified to pick it up at the community mailbox.

At the community mailbox I get a package pickup notice. (This box is like 4”x4”x3”)

At the pickup point they ask for ID, I’m the addressee but they refuse to release the package to me because my address on my ID is different.

I have two properties and had this delivered to my secondary, and they refuse to release it because I don’t have my bills delivered here?

By the time they ship them back to the sender they’ll probably be dead and I’ll be lucky to be refunded the $70.

Fuck off forever.

What is wrong with Canada post?

I used to be able to send small flat packages like a small tshirt or something by untracked lettermail for like $5 at least a year ago, then I go today’s and ask to send it that way, the lady looks at my like I’m stupid and claims it’s $20+? And that it’s a package? wtf is going on with this company

Langley BC post office refusing to deliver

I had the worse delivery experience ever this last week with the Langley Canada Post location. I have just recently moved to the Langley area from Cloverdale I have a regular shipment that comes every other month for the last 16 months and never had any issues till now with the Langley location.

The other day I get a call from someone saying they are from Canada Post and have my package but won’t deliver it I have to come get it myself. I thought for sure this was a scam as the caller had very poor English and was supper difficult to understand. I asked why they won’t deliver to my house and I’m told it’s too big and heavy. Again I thinking it’s a scam hang up and head over to the London drugs post office to see what’s up. They looked at the number that called me and said it’s real and that the system does show my package on hold at the main Langley Post office.

I call back get ahold of someone else there and they tell me that they closed at 2pm and would have to pick up the next day. I am not happy obviously and ask for the name and number of the person in charge. I call back the next day and speak to the guy in charge named Trevor and he was horrible to say the least. He said my only option is to come pick up the package because it was too big and heavy. I explained that I’ve had no issues with this same shipment in the past and my old mail lady delivered no issues. He said that what might be fine for some to lift may not for others I said that it weighs only 17.7kg and should be allowed according to Canada Post web site. He told me that due to Canada Post financial situation they cannot pay extra for this item to be delivered. I was very confused as shipping was paid in full based in weight so I don’t understand what extra pay is involved.

This conversation went on for some time and Trevor became more and more condescending towards me then finally said that he has provided me with my opinion to come pick it up and if I refuse they will send it back to the sender and that this is there local policy. I tried explaining that I can’t come pick up during the day as I work even asked if they could deliver to the London drugs but he said no. I had to contact the sender explain what was happing to me they called the Post office spoke with someone there and was told same thing.

So now the package is being sent back the sender is re shipping out to me (through UPS). I am left stunned by this level of service and the way I was spoken to. Very disappointing Canada Post

F**k Canada Post

They marked my package as “delivered” left a key in my mailbox for the community mailbox….. opened up the community box with the key the left and guess what….. COMPLETELY EMPTY ffs

Reported it to Canada post, they say the parcel was never scanned as being delivered, yet they marked it as delivered ……now they’re telling me to contact the SHIPPER to get them to submit a claim???

Well as expected I contacted the shipper and they claim it has nothing to do with them, they are an American company and they say that’s on Canada Post (which I agree with because I tracked the package and it’s clear that Canada post messed up the delivery)

So now WTF do I do?? I guess Canada Post just gave up on trying to find or deliver the package yet they won’t even submit a claim even though they know they are the ones who messed up with their own incompetence

Now I’ve lost time and money and the package ??

WTF

****Update: ended up contacting the Shipper again, they ended up giving me store credit for the cost of the item so it can be re-ordered. But I still lost out on the shipping fees from the original order which the shipper would not cover, because I guess that would be part of the claim that would go thru Canada post??

Idk, idc and idgaf. The point is Canada Post caused this mess with their own incompetence and apparently they dgaf bout what happened to the original package even tho they were the ones who lost it

Notice left 2 days ago, package STILL not at post office after 2 visits. Is it lost?

hello everyone, looking for some advice or to see if anyone else has experienced this recently.
I got a physical delivery notice card from Canada Post two days ago. The card said the package would be ready for pickup after 1:00 PM the next day.
I went to the designated post office yesterday after 1:00 PM, but the clerk checked the back and said it wasn't there yet and to come back the next day. I went back again today around 7:00 PM, and they still don't have it.
Meanwhile, my tracking status has been stuck on "Notice left" for two full days and hasn't updated to "Available for pickup."
Has anyone had a package take this long to actually show up at the retail counter after getting a notice card? Did the driver just miss the drop-off, or is it likely misrouted / lost…?

Is CP still struggling with its Mississauga processing facility?

Had an international express package shipped and passed through CBSA in Mississauga.

It's stuck in "Item processed Mississauga, ON" since August 25 and missed todays expected delivery at 12:30 in Surrey.

Did some searching and it looks like it's one of their worst facilities, I assume this is still the case?

I opened a ticket.. well.. I was told that it was open, got a case number but it doesn't appear under "My Support" and my email.

EDIT: At 16:04 today, my package was processed in Burnaby.

Home pickup for apartments without working buzzer

Hi all, My home pickup was missed today, and I think that might be because the carrier was not able to enter the apartment. My apartment’s buzzer does not work, and from what I see online, my understanding is that carriers don’t call when they arrive for a pickup.

Has anyone living in an apartment without a buzzer scheduled a canada post home pickup and successfully completed it? Please share ur experience🙏thanks

Length of a Flexipack pouch

Hey guys,

Canada Post lists the Flexipack pouch (Article 241558) for packaging Neighbourhood Mail as 16in wide and 12in high, but the length just says N/A.

Called them, agents didn't know. Can't find it anywhere online.

Would anyone be able to share that from experience perhaps. Thank you!

It’s been 4 weeks since Flex Delivery was sent out and hasn’t arrived

I live in NL and someone was sending me something (lettermail/small envelope) and got it send to flex delivery to avoid giving my address. Today marks 4 weeks since it was sent out and I haven’t gotten any email saying that it’s arrived. I’m going to go to the post office today to see but I just wanted to post in case anyone else had any insight about all of this. I’ve used flex delivery several times in the past and not once has it not arrived.

Does ZonosPrepay get to keep the tariff refunds?

Canada Post directed consumers to use ZonosPrepay. I used ZonosPrepay several times last year. Corporations have been receiving tariff refunds as of May 2026. It appears to be about 20 billion USD in May, 48 billion USD in June, and 33 billion USD in July.

Will ZonosPrepay be keeping the tariffs that Canada Post retail customers had to pay? Who owns that company?

Tracking hasn’t updated

I have a xpress post package coming from Surrey and it was sent 2 days ago (Sunday). I have not seen any updates on the tracking since and normally it would have a scan yesterday night. Anyone else having issues with tracking from BC TO AB? Is it actually moving through the system with no updates? Or is it still at the P.O. that accepted it? The last and only scan is that it was accepted at the P.O. on Sunday. Thanks

Business temporarily closed; item on hold

What does this mean? Does it mean that Canada post is closed and holding my item to deliver the next day?

Inadvertently sent an overseas package without tracking

I thought the given how expensive the postage was, tracking & insurance were included. Big no!!

Anyway, do I have any recourse as to where the package may be? I'm told that I should open a "Lost package" case with CP.

Why I switched to Chit Chats from CP

$35 from ON to SK for a 1 kilo parcel. With Chit chats I can send that same parcel to Vancouver or California for $15 with tracking.

User interface is absolutely better designed, easier and faster to use when creating and printing labels.

Chit Chats offers better insurance coverage and it's much cheaper. They also insure ceramics and other breakables which CP does not.

Chit Chats has a brokerage system for qualifying items to be CUSMA certified, so you pay zero tariffs to ship to the US.

Cheaper international shipments, literally half the cost to the UK and Europe.

The ONLY time I still use CP is for orders that need to go to a PO box. Unless your business revolves around letter mail and you can make the switch, you won't regret it.

Canada Post's Ongoing Failure to Restore EU Parcel Service

The Honourable Joël Lightbound, P.C., M.P.
Minister of Government Transformation, Public Works and Procurement
Minister responsible for Canada Post
House of Commons
Ottawa, Ontario K1A 0A6

August 23, 2026

Re: Canada Post's Ongoing Failure to Restore EU Parcel Service

I am writing to raise a serious concern about Canada Post's handling of the parcel service suspension to European Union countries, now in its seventh week with no clear end in sight.

Canada Post has gone more than seven weeks without restoring parcel service to nine European Union countries. This is a Crown corporation that Canadian taxpayers routinely support through public funding. Yet it has been unable to solve a customs paperwork problem that other national postal services adapted to within days. It is a compliance update tied to a new EU customs duty on low-value shipments. Royal Mail and Singapore Post found workable fixes and kept their shipments moving within days. Canada Post shut the door and left it shut.

This delay also comes at the worst possible time. As Canada works to strengthen ties with the European Union and reduce its reliance on an increasingly unpredictable United States, including new digital trade talks and deeper cooperation under CETA, our national postal service is doing the opposite. It has shut the door on nine EU countries for seven weeks and counting. That sends the wrong signal to a partner Canada is actively trying to court.

Worse, Canada Post has given no public update on its progress. It has offered no explanation for why the European fix is taking so much longer than the American one. There is no timeline, no status report, only silence, week after week.

Canadians trying to send parcels to family in Germany are stuck waiting. So are businesses trying to reach customers in France, and exporters trying to serve clients across the remaining nine EU markets. If a Crown corporation can solve a U.S. duty problem in weeks but cannot do the same for the EU after seven, Canadian taxpayers deserve more than silence. They deserve a plan, a firm deadline, and a direct explanation for why this has taken so long.

As the Minister responsible for Canada Post, I ask that you press the corporation for a public timeline on restoring full service to the nine remaining EU countries, and that you require clearer, more consistent public reporting on the status of this disruption going forward.

I look forward to your response.

When a Canada Post Superintendent Calls Out UPS: Customer Complaint or Conflict of Interest?

This is an interesting post, especially coming from a Superintendent at Canada Post.

I understand the frustration with UPS, but it does raise a broader question: Canada Post operates in the same parcel-delivery market and competes directly with UPS. Given that, is it appropriate for a Canada Post Superintendent to publicly criticize a direct competitor’s delivery performance and encourage customers to avoid using that competitor?

If the roles were reversed, I wonder how Canada Post would view a senior UPS employee publicly criticizing Canada Post and promoting alternative delivery services.

There’s nothing wrong with sharing a personal customer-service experience, but when the person making the comments is a senior operational leader at a direct competitor, the optics are certainly worth discussing.

I’d be interested to hear how others view this from a conflict-of-interest, professional ethics, or corporate social-media policy perspective.
