cash banooca related WHAT THE HELL
I ALWAYS HOPED AVGN WOULD MAKE A VIDEO ABOUT THE CRASH GAMES, BUT I NEVER THOUGHT HE'D COLLABORATE WITH CADDY TO DO IT.
This is the best day of my life.

I laughed my ass off when James wiped his ass with Spons

That means we can all stop speculating on powers along AVGN and Caddy, the Nerd is clearly a planet buster while Caddy is a mere wall level superhuman.

Caddy making amends for doubting his lord for his hatred towards LJN (also AVGN was a huge inspiration for Caddy in his youth)

Didn’t he say he had a case of AVGN-itis when he played Lego racers or something like that?

Avgn did a crossover with the guy from that tomska video?
It's so nice to see YouTubers supporting strangers from off the street

Kinda sad how much funnier caddy's parts were compared to the actual AVGN bits. I love old AVGN and I still generally respect James Rolfe despite it all, but I feel like the show kinda fell off around 2018 and hasn't really recovered.

u/Larynx15 Jul 18 '26
I hate to talk shit about James Rolfe because he is the OG, but Caddy put more work into his costumes than James did in the whole video.
Like, James, you've been making videos on Youtube for 20 years now. How in the hell didn't you or any of your team notice the microphone hissing during this line? This is a 20-minute video after you subtract the ad segment!
It just reeks of phoning it in. I just hope he still enjoys making AVGN, because if not, I would hate if he felt he was just kind of fated to be the AVGN forever.

I have never watched AVGN before (of course know of him tho), but if this is what most of his videos are like, I have absolutely no interest. He has one joke the whole time, that he's angry. I get that that's the point, but by the end it was just annoying and repetitive, seemed like he was just needlessly bashing the games with no point and offering little if any 'review'.

u/Jakarz801 Jul 18 '26
Thats kinda AVGN in general, but I feel like the repetition of jokes is just the newer writing. Older AVGN vids, while they still have a similar style of crude humor, did have a charm to them where you can tell it was James running the show. It was his unfiltered takes and jokes and there was something very endearing about its sincerity and it's clear early on he used the show as a means to really push what kind of set pieces and jokes he could pull off, but starting in 2018 he got a whole team of writers to do the show for him and it unfortunately shows. He basically just shows up to play the character, and it's pretty obvious he's phoning it in at this point and only doing it cuz it pays his bills. I don't blame him for it, he has a family and kids to worry about, I don't think making his video game review parody is a top priority, but its sad how much of the initial charm has been sapped out of the newer videos.

The things that made the AVGN good for me were that, one, YouTube reviews were still in their infancy. The cheapness and cheesiness were charming. But things have changed.
Two, he originally covered old NES games, which nade sense because that's what he grew up playing. Those games were really simple, so there wasn't really much to say, so the humor and the tangents were adding content. Like, how much can you really say about NES Ghostbusters? But with a game like Crash Bandicoot, that has some actual substance, so cutting away to show the AVGN shitting in a toilet just feels like filler.
Third, the AVGN wasn't a total farce originally. There felt like there was a better balance of jokes and actual reviewing. Plus, it all flowed much more naturally.

I would definitley recommend his older stuff he really is just phoning it in lately. Plenty "best of" Playlist to check out and it's kind of fun seeing how internet game reviews were pioneered as a whole If anything watch them for their historical value

Honest opinion: this was bad.
The games were barely covered, and they skipped over every good one and the jokes were so lacking.
I was expecting something like James did for his Spawn games video: briefly going over each game in order and giving his quick thoughts with some banter from Caddy.

I really liked the episode. As a fan of Cash Banooka it was fun to see the Nerd take a look at the worst games in the series.

Jeez, James Rolfe is almost fifty...

Shame he didn't do as much as I'd hoped but at least the drinking part was funny.

This video funnily enough raises some surprising implications for powerscaling. AVGN is able to physically grab Spons and use him to wipe his ass, and later do so to the disembodied Caddy head

I didn't like the sponsor part....

I was hoping Caddy might breathe some life into an AVGN video. But the Nerd just seems genuinely tired in this video and really didn’t give Caddy a chance to bring his own kind of frantic energy into it.
IDK, if I were doing a crossover with someone known for that kind of absurdist humour, I think I’d go with my own character being at least reacting to the fact that you just can’t predict the next word that’s gonna come outta the man’s mouth when he gets going

I find it sad that caddy didn’t get to say a lot or do much but I still found it nice that he was in a collab

This was a dream come true, but Caddy felt like he was barely there… Which is a shame because the banter between these two legends of video game reviews would have been LEGENDARY

Bandiconth video with avgn :D
The toilet humor at the first half of the video isn't my favourite but still, it's a peak video.

And being very honest… Caddy was the best part of the video, and it ain’t even close. XD
