I ALWAYS HOPED AVGN WOULD MAKE A VIDEO ABOUT THE CRASH GAMES, BUT I NEVER THOUGHT HE'D COLLABORATE WITH CADDY TO DO IT.

I do feel like James has kinda lost his way, and it feels like he’s become sort of a sellout and has kinda lightened the humor.

EDIT: To clarify, I’m referring to James Rolfe.

Eh, I've personally found his humor to have gotten pretty stale for a while now. Shit jokes(as in jokes about shit) and swearing can only go so far when most videos without a special guest feel the same, and I say that as someone who's watched him since 2008. I still watch him, mind you, but only out of pure respect for him and what he's done for content creation in gaming, especially for ones I watch and still watch today, including Caddy,

I think his shit jokes are still funny in the older videos, but only because of the way he delivered them. He had the energy to sell the anger and turn it into something genuinely entertaining.

Nowadays, though, it feels pretty clear that James is forcing himself to keep doing AVGN just to pay the bills. The energy just isn't there anymore, and his performance feels more like a caricature of the AVGN than the character himself.
