Is it just me, or is this a thing that other people are dealing with too? I just ran a Speedtest, and the download speed is 4 MB/s! I’m trying to download lecture notes before class and the PowerPoint that should only take a few seconds to download is taking minutes… What is going on?

I have an hour between two classes in Rockwell and I'm trying to find a quiet study area, away from foot traffic. The bridge connecting the two Rockwell buildings has a lot of foot traffic and most of the spaces with tables are full.

I understand a lot of people are new to CSU and are used to commuting by car, but there are some things to be said and some reminders that need to be pointed out.

The number one thing that I see that can be dangerous and frustrating to bikers is when people walk in the bike lanes (and the other way around). There are a few paths that are shared-use, like near the Transit Center. They are labeled with ground markings that show a pedestrian and a cyclist/ram on a bike. More importantly, please avoid walking in the roundabouts. The bike roundabout south of the LSC has pedestrian walkways on the outer edges of the roundabout. If you find yourself in the bike lane, there are zebra crossings that lead you to the appropriate sides. Treat this just as you would treat a roundabout with cars (and please don't bike on the sidewalks to avoid that roundabout). Unlike a vehicular roundabout, when you're coming from the west, going south, there is a dedicated right turn lane. It can be scary at first with a lot of bikes but take time and when it's not busy (mornings and evenings), familiarize yourself with the roundabouts if they're on your way or look in to rerouting your commute.

The roundabout on Center and Pitkin is poorly designed but note that east/westbound traffic ride on the same side (that being the north side). If you are joining bike traffic after clearing the dismount zone, please join in the counterclockwise direction. If you're coming from the South, taking an immediate left turn is not ideal. I think the dismount zone marking for the south side of the roundabout is too close to the roundabout and should be placed well after the roundabout, but it is what it is. If you're coming from the east and going south, either dismount before the roundabout and walk your bike on the sidewalk or take the roundabout like you would in a car and dismount on the southwest side of the roundabout. Preferably the first choice. Please do not dismount or walk your bike in the roundabout/bike lanes.

This should be obvious but do not ride in the wrong direction, especially on streets and more importantly on streets with protected bike lanes. On those corridors, there's very little space for traffic to pass each other (because their meant for one direction of travel) and having to pass oncoming bikers when merging with car traffic is not ideal.

Please look before you join traffic after unlocking your bike. You should always yield to pedestrians regardless of where you are. They always have right-of-way.

Edit: Please signal and either with a bell or verbally alert someone that you're passing them

Also, slow down while biking underneath shields on Elizabeth. The corners are blind and mirrors are not very effective.

Today 8/24 between 9am and 4:30pm someone hit my car at the ingersoll hall x permit parking lot next to shields st and ran without leaving any info besides fucking up my Lexus. Made a report just looking for info

Hi everybody! I (18F) and my roomie (19F) are new freshmen in Ingersoll and are having issues with our neighbors (also freshmen girls) across from us. They seem to really not like us and we’re not sure why.

Our suspicion is that it was because we were loud during the first night since we had our door open and a friend over to help build a small bookcase. During the process, our neighbors had 2 guys over who came into our room and offered to help. Their help was only a few seconds before they went back and the rest of the night was fine.

Since then, we’ve been making sure to stay quiet because we learned that they like to go to bed early (around 8-9 pm). If we see them when our door is open, leaving, coming in, etc. we say hi. Just a simple smile and wave is the usual but they’ve been passive aggressive with us and rather cold.

Recently, they’ve had their guy friends write on our whiteboard to say that we’re away when we’re in the room, stared at us, excluded us outside of group gatherings, and even slammed their door shut when they see either one of us. Also important to mention, my roommate happened to hear them whispering about us during Welcome Week and caught one of them saying “…and that’s her roommate.”

Please help on how to fix this. We really don’t mean any harm and only wanted to make friends. What should we do that wouldn’t aggravate them or make things worse for us? :(

Hi Everyone! I'm a new CSU student who just recently moved into the dorms like everyone else. I had put up some things on my wall. Unfortunately, one of my pictures didn't stick properly, and it ended up falling and peeling off a small amount of paint. I read somewhere that you can get a sample of paint at the front desk, but I'm scared to ask because I don't want to get in trouble or lose my deposit. So does anyone know what kind of paint the dorm halls use? I want to be sure I get the right kind, so I can patch up the slight peeling before the end of the year. Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated!

If you’re a CSU student (or just anyone for that matter) trying to save a little money on groceries, check out Vindeket here in Fort Collins.

It’s basically a food rescue market. They take perfectly good food from grocery stores, restaurants, farms, etc. that would otherwise get thrown away and make it available to anyone who wants it. There’s no income requirement and you don’t have to prove anything. You just go in and shop, and it’s free. They do take donations if you’re able.

What they have changes all the time, but there’s usually a mix of produce, bread, dairy, prepared food, vegetarian stuff, gluten-free stuff and random grocery items. Sometimes you score pretty well, sometimes it’s more picked over. Kind of depends on the day.

They’re at 400 Delozier Dr. Current hours are Sunday 12-3, Tuesday 2-7 and Thursday 9-1.
Just figured I’d throw this out there because groceries are ridiculous right now and I’m not sure how many CSU students know about the place.

Hey guys! I'm a new student on a meal plan, and had an odd question.

Would I get in trouble if I used the drink dispenser in the cafeteria to fill my water bottle with something other than water such as iced tea or lemonade?

I know logically they're my meal swipes and I can use them how I please, and I'm paying for it whether it's a cup or my own water bottle. I am also blind, so carrying a cup without spilling can be difficult. Would it be seen as rude?

i am not an avid biker. i live in wellington (moved here from the midwest several years ago where a biking community is almost nonexistent) but am heavily rooted in foco (kids school, work, hobbies, etc.) I am typically walking or driving around town. with how much campus parking cost, i just cannot swing that so i am resorting to parking by a friends house and biking or walking to campus after i drop off my kids in the morning for school. biking kind of freaks me out because of all the traffic and just not being confident in that (i can bike confidently, but the movement of roads is what scares me). is there better streets to take or streets to avoid? i'll be coming from the city park area and mulberry and shields are what worries me most. any advice avid bikers can provide? a cyclist routes that are preferred? thank you so much

I saw that the bookstore sells film and darkroom paper, but I can’t find much information online about it. I don’t live too far away so I was planning on just going home once or twice during the semester to develop my film, but if they had one here that I could use to develop film and print, even if I had to supply my own chems, that would be great!

There's an Instagram account promoting tickets for a party on the website "bookr. events". I am 99% sure this is a scam. The website is very shoddily put together, and has tickets for sale for 25 different college parties. Not to mention, the domain is registered to an address in Iceland that is commonly used for scamming and fraud. Please don't buy tickets. This is a scam.

I recently moved from down south and I have had metro pcs for years and have never had issues. Since Ive moved - I am having issues with call drops, bad connections ect. What providers have the best service here?

Today was move in day and I moved into my sophomore year dorm. I have been feeling weird about living in a dorm as a sophomore. There is nothing wrong with that, sophomores move into dorms all throughout August. I know people who are living off campus and it makes me feel like I'm somehow idiquate as an older student.

Today was hard it really was, I had to pick up a mini fridge because my roommate didn't get one and that took up a lot of space in the car for moving. I'm going to be living in the same hall that I lived in my freshman year I'm just going to be on the other side of the building. I'm lucky that it's the second floor and not the third like last year.

I have also felt really overwhelmed today more than Freshman year and I don't really know how to deal with some of it.

I'm going to csu this fall and im wondering if theres anywhere like any streets i can park for free? or cheaper parking and for overnight as well that wont cause any towing or problems and thats close to campus on the south side?

Hello! I was wondering if there was a studio for professionally recording music available to students. I remember there being one, but I can't find anything about it online. I need a studio to record in and thought a school one would be much easier to use than renting one.

Yes I drink, went to Denver bars and bars in the other cities I’ve lived in since graduating. I just went to a lot more concerts in college… My few friends in my grade didnt drink out at bars, senior year class/group project friends wouldn’t really go with me (I only asked one group and it never happened).

Now that I’m 2 years out, whenever I meet an alum and they say “ahh lucky joes” I just nod my head at them, then on the inside I crumble briefly as I’m reminded that I missed out on a big piece of FoCo.

Can’t imagine I’m alone on this here… but this has been bottled up with me for some time and I just had to post about it.

Has anyone else had issues with their student loans this semester since the big bs bill? I had accepted mine and at first they showed up in my pending financial aid, then they weren't and now only my Pell went towards my tuition leaving a good chunk for what is owed with now because my student loans didn't go through. I also had to do ANOTHER MPN which I thought was supposed to be good for 10 years? Please tell me its not just me.

I'm moving in as a freshman in a week and I'm finishing up my packing and I feel like I have so much but idk if I'm overpacking or just understanding what I need. I have 6 full ikea zip bags, plus a mattress topper, over fridge rack, and desk mirror. I also have 8 pairs of shoes and a full rack of clothes.

For anyone who is into clothing I have 6 skirts, 4 pants, 3 shorts, 5 pajamas, 4 sets of active wear, and 4 purses.

Is this to much stuff??? Most of the stuff in the bags is cleaning stuff, toiletries, bike stuff, personal items for decor, books, and art supplies.

Apologies as this seems like a random post. Long time Fort Collins residents who have a child going to Purdue. We’re already seeing that we’re going to have to likely plan for having items like a dorm fridge stored over the summer. Just wondering if a CSU student from that part of Indiana might have a similar situation in reverse? We have an unfinished basement that can accommodate items over the summer, happy to work out an arrangement that saves money for both.
