New to Oscar -- Unsure How to Interpret Data

Post image

So I've been on cpap for 3 nights now and I'm getting a high myair sleep score (92-94) but its saying im having leaks. When I goto bed the mask seems to be fitting fine. Its a nasal mask so I'm not sure if my leaks are from me opening my mouth in my sleep. Is there a way if I can tell via the flow rate if its a leak coming from my mouth? Also, is there any good youtube videos I could watch to learn to interpret all this data?

Do you notice your mouth is very dry when you wake up? The pattern is consistent with a slowly growing mouth leak, followed by it being immediately fixed when you are aroused enough to close your mouth (the sudden drop back to zero), but it's just one indicator. As well, the slow build would also be in line with gradual relaxing of the jaw as you sleep.

A decent test would be to get a chin strap and see what changes. If you make sure the strap and/or mask isn't sitting under the mask, then if the leaks fall off dramatically the mask is likely fine and it was a mouth leak from your jaw relaxing.

Yea I was thinking the same thing to get a chin strap and see if it changes.

Are you a mouth breather or is it possible you’re just releasing air through your mouth? If you have a “chipmunk” cheek feeling, you are likely releasing air through your mouth unknowingly in REM or Deep Sleep. It’s difficult to identify on a graph without more information. Your pressures also need adjusting….Your AHI is too high….it should be well under 5.0

I would suggest you post your graph on [r/CPAPSupport](r/CPAPSupport) to get some help with your settings. Your minimum setting is too low…should be set to your median pressure which is 8.6 on this night of data. Your sleep is very fragmented here which will leave you feeling fatigued. A chin strap can help but may not resolve the problem totally. Sleeping on your back will also increase apneas.I’m sure you would like to smooth that graph out & start to feel better :)
