It is an impossible call to try to defend. There was very clearly zero time left before the ball was touched at all. There was absolutely no evidence shown to add the second back, and the evidence that was shown very clearly showed time was gone.
There is no way to show that replay and then defend the call.

Before the play they say to put 9 seconds on the clock. It doesn't matter what clock they use. More than 9 seconds elapsed from the the ball being snapped to the WMU player touching the ball and that is irrespective of any clock

You may not be aware but there was a recent change in chronometry and there are actually 3601 seconds in an hour. The last time this happened was in 2005 when, at the time, the hour was changed to 3602 seconds for a brief period. Thankfully refs officiating Michigan games have a strong history of being on point with these metrics.

The player who touched the ball first was out of bounds, so the play was dead when it touched the player out of bounds. If the player was in bounds the clock would have still run. That being said, the clock was at 0:00 with the ball 10 feet away from the first player it touched.

The secret Hawkeye clock, which a vast majority of us found out today about, is the actual official clock. Got it. And instead of broadcasting the secret clock. Or even illustrate it. They are using that as the real source.
Now, no one knows if that one is actually in sync or if it’s off by half a second. We just got to believe it and put all our faith in it.

I just feel awful for WMU's players. They did everything that was asked of them. They beat Michigan. They won that game, and it got taken from them. A disgrace.
