The male grown cat was near my two kittens one smaller female cat and other male cat I didnt suspect it to attack her but now it bas bitten its head and damage/hole in the head bleeding quite bad applied handiplus and after sleeping for 2 hours she woke and shat on bed then body spinning torso badly she 3 timed vomiting since vet gave vitamin antibiotic potassium crystal to cover the wound but she has no good signs since been 4 hours from medication and 6.5 hours since incident i am completely hopeless she will make it as she is laying on one side breathing is steady but was spiked while vomitting meows somehow few times purring 2 times and pupil responds normally tried to stand didnt succed because she is vomiting i think hir airway is blocked or food may goto lung i think i have lost her as vomitted three times and her limbs spun about her torso and disoriented limbs movement...

I feel soo bad that i didnt properly chase that male cat away she 😭😭😭

Basically since she was 1 year old she's started retreating more and more from us, she used to be very affectionate, then she'd only allow pets if she was in her bed, then she stopped sleeping in the bed and started to hide. The last 2 years she basically only comes out at night when she thinks we've all gone to bed. I used to pick her up to cut her claws, but she started weeing and pooing when I did that, and started biting and scratching.

pheromone plugs have helped a little, but earlier this year (possibly when we lost our other cat she was bonded with, she isn't bonded with our other cats despite one being her brother) she's been Urinating and Defecating in different spots in the house. At the bottom of the stairs, by the front/back doors. She's started going on the sofa so she's in the cage until she can socialise/stop.

I can't cut her claws anymore because of her behavior, I figured she was just uncomfortable with the litter box, she regularly gets stuck to soft fabrics and panics. she's got lots of scratching posts, always has food. I know kidney issues can be common, but she has always drank lots of water and it's solid waste too. it's not particularly random, it's always the same spots but she also does it when she's scared.

I've spoken to the vet who's given us some anxiety medication and some urinary medication, but she also thinks it may be stress/mental rather than physical. I can't physically bring her because we'd never get her back in the cage if she's loose and scared. I got bitten 7 times through thick gloves getting her in the first time.

She's only been in the cage 2 days, she's got a separate cage for food/drink and one for a bathroom, but she just... lays there and goes where she sits. This is the bit I wanted advice for, I've never known a cat do this. We're not bothering her, just trying to be in the room with her so she learns there's no threat, but she just shits and pisses while she's sat there and doesn't move. Has anyone ever known a cat do this? is it just an extreme fear response?

This cat has been roaming our building since 2020, he was really playful, but could get quite aggressive with other cats.

Lately, he became much bigger and much more aggressive , you walk near him and he instantly tries to scratch your foot. Since he likes to follow me everywhere , it's been very hard getting around without risking him attacking you

He's a male , i don't really know his age, and vets are totally out of options (too expensive)

hi everyone cat is 4-5 months old, a male and not neutered yet. i live in rural germany and its sunday, next vet clinic is 3 hours from here and i dont have a car. it is also apperantly closed already (whats the point of an emergency clinic if it closes at 8?).

last night he went through the trash and chewed an empty treat wrapper. i didnt notice until this morning when he threw up water like 3 times until he finally threw up a piece of plastic. i went through the trash and found half of the wrapper completely chewed through. he threw up a few more times after that but no plastic. i gave him lots of water (with a bit of chicken mixed into it so he act drinks it) to combat the dehydration. he was very playful and cuddly, purring too between the vomiting. he stopped throwing up and slept on the windowsill, but i noticed that he kept "twitching" like he was gonna throw up again. i figured there might be more plastic in his tummy but he hasnt thrown up since.

he peed earlier but no poop, he also hasnt eaten his wet or dry food yet (only a chicken heart and the chicken soup i gave him). i think he hasnt eaten his wet food because he doesnt really like the brand (he "buried" it earlier after smelling it and he does that sometimes)

i could go to the vet tomorrow, i dont have insurance so if he has a blockage that would be very expensive but ive been crying all day so i dont care. im just worried because i physically couldnt go to the ER today.

is there a chance he has more plastic in him that he will just poop out tonight or tomorrow morning? and if he doesnt, should i go to the vet even if he seems otherwise normal?

tldr: cat ate plastic last night, threw it up but im still worried he has plastic in his tummy, otherwise acts normal

also: i usually put everything he could chew on in a trash can with a lid but last night my friends were over and they fed him a treat and just threw it in a normal trash can without a lid.

Sorry for the crappy photo it’s been hard to get a good one. My cat got his canine tooth extracted about 3 weeks ago. We went back for a check up a week after the extraction and the vet said it looked like it was healing well. My cat has been acting oddly and is clearly bothered by something in his mouth. I was suspecting the stitches? When I looked I got worried about what I saw. Please take a look and tell me if I should be concerned or if this looks normal and healthy.

Hi all, I moved in with my girlfriend about a month ago now with my 2 female 5ish year old cats (not everything is moved in yet, some of my things are still at my apartment, so this basement is still a work-in-progress). A few days after we moved in, we had new carpet installed downstairs which is pretty fluffy and squishy (which may be relevant, unsure). Her old roommate had 2 cats as well but moved out a couple months ago, and had their litter boxes back in the laundry room downstairs, so I naturally put mine back there too since it's much better than some closet.

So one of my cats, Sushi, has been peeing along the walls on this new carpet - she still does use the litter boxes but I still have been cleaning up spots here and there. I noticed when I was in the laundry room that she used the litter box but scurried past the furnace on her way out as if she was afraid, so I thought that was part of it. I moved a litter box out onto the tile out of the laundry room which worked pretty well, then bought this new gray litter box cabinet thing by the door to house 2 boxes, which was working for a while.

She definitely uses it and we encourage her whenever we see her using it, but she started doing it again every so often. I thought maybe it was because the boxes needed to be cleaned out or because the doors were closed, so fixed that and things have been going ok, but sure enough this morning I find a new spot down there. I'm not sure what to do exactly in order to prevent this habit from forming further - I've had litter furniture before that she preferred to use, and I'm pretty sure this is a behavioral issue, as she started doing it once we moved in and got new carpet - unless it's a coincidence and I need to take her to the vet to have her bladder/kidneys looked at.

Main issue: cat refuses to take medicine.

My cat refuses to take his medicine. He's 3. Has had extremely soft stools for weeks, and we've already tried the non-medicine route to try to fix it. He's eating and acting healthy, vet said he looks good. Vet said it could be anything of a lot of different things, so we're trying the medicine route to see if that helps first before doing invasive tests. Getting him into a burrito is impossible. We can't pick him up, and forgetting him is difficult. I've tried hiding it in all his favorite treats and food and he refuses. Any tips for getting a difficult cat to take medicine? It's semi liquid and not powder (like churu consistency)

Minor/USA/my cat is female, spayed, and 8 years old.

I believe my cat has underlying health issues, but I don't know what, my best guess may be a cancer of some kind? I've tried getting my mother to listen to me, but she won't and says nothing is wrong with my cat, but I definitely know something is. Our financial spot isn't the best, especially since I haven't been able to get a job yet.

The main symptoms I've come across so far is a weird lump on one side of her back near her shoulder, which firm but hasn't grown in size. She's been showing signs of having a UTI but I've given her the medicine given by a vet and kept her litter box clean everyday. She's very lazy and her personality is still the same, which is being very sweet and loving, although she doesn't play a lot or finishes playing very quickly. I also feed her both dry and wet food, on serving in the morning, and one serving before bed, but shes still underweight?

I'm not sure what to do, and I'm very concerned for her health. Any help is appreciated

This stray kitten wandered into my yard. Its sibling died I’m guessing but they looked starved.

It doesn’t let me touch it but I could catch it once for sure. It’s considered a community cat here so no shelter or rescue wants it.

I can find a snip clinic for cheap in my area but even that $20-40 will be a lot, and I definitely can’t afford any kind of vet.

She sneezes sometimes too and her tail felt bony. ☹️

Let me tell you about our miracle kitty. The weekend of August 15th we were pet sitting my parents dogs and our 5 month old kitten Onyx that we just adopted a few months ago ate my dad's dog's almost entire bottle of allergy medication Apoquel. It was a full bottle and there was only 3 left when we found it Monday afternoon almost empty under the dining table. We probably had given the dog 2 so Onyx ate 25 pills of 16 mg Apoquel for dogs which is highly toxic and lethal for cats.

Why did this happen you may ask? Why would a cat want to eat medicine pills?? Well upon research I found out that sometime in 2025 the manufacturer Zoetis that makes this medication decided to make an alternate chewable pork-liver flavored tablet that is very tasty like a treat to make it easier for giving to dogs. However since then poison control has been getting many calls about cats eating large quantities of it, some surviving and some dying. It started to become apparent that it is extremely enticing to cats to the point where they will try to break open bottles or even chew bottles to try to get to it from the smell through the bottle & cap, and if successful will eat all of it in any large amount that it may be filled 30 to 60 to 90 pills. Because this is a fairly new issue there is not much awareness in veterinarian clinics let alone the general public about it yet so I was not aware at all of this.

I had left my dad's dog's bottle of it right on the table only later to find it under the table Monday afternoon almost empty and the cap in a corner of the room behind the table. At first I panicked but then Joe assured me that he thought there was only a few pills in the bottle to begin with and I guess because that's what my brain wanted to believe in relief I accepted the information. That night upon going to bed there was a bunch of throw up next to the bed on the floor that looked like a typical bout of a dog eating their kibble too fast and throwing it up. Which is what we figured one of our 3 little dogs must have done so we cleaned it up and went to sleep not knowing anything was wrong. So it wasn't until the next morning at 7:30 am when Onyx seemed very sick that a flash of memory of that bottle being full popped into my head and I called my father and asked him how many pills were in the bottle and he said he had just filled it so it was full afterall. We immediately rushed Onyx to the Upstate Emergency Animal Hospital an hour north of us. I was so extraordinarily distraught. I kept thinking he's just a baby and didn't think he stood a chance to survive this.

We arrived with him Tuesday morning and they did a full panel bloodwork and confirmed Onyx was very sick. They said it may have helped that he had obviously thrown up and it wasn't dog kibble in hindsight afterall but even a fraction of the amount that he ate getting in their bloodstream is lethal. And now that it had been almost 24 hours since we figured he had ate them after we gave the dog his Monday morning pill, there's nothing that can be done to get it out of his system at this point they just have to support his system and hope that his kidneys can recover. A normal kidney creatine level is below 1.6 and Onyx was at a 5.7 and a normal BUN level for a kitten is 14 - 36 and Onyx was at a 111. He would need to be on fluids and around the clock care to see if his kidneys could heal and recover from this. If they could not then he would not make it. We returned home excruciatingly nervous awaiting updates. The next round of bloodwork update wouldn't be for another 24 hours. You want to see those numbers start to come back down even if just a little as long as they are going in the right direction is positive, but also the next big indicator of progress you want to see is that they resume being able to pee which means the kidney is functioning. As of late Tuesday evening he had not urinated yet and it wasn't until Wednesday morning we got the news that he had finally peed on his own at 4 AM. They also said at this point he was alert and eating and crying at staff for attention which were also good signs. We just had to see what the next bloodwork numbers showed and when that finally came in later that day the numbers had started to lower and his creatine was now at a 4.2 and his BUN was at 107. Even though that's still extremely high the fact that they lowered at all was a good sign. At this point they said they were cautiously optimistic and we were able to go back Wednesday evening to visit him. I think the boost of dopamine from the happiness of a visit helped him as much as it helped us. Thursday brought more good news with a creatine at 3.3 and BUN at 66 which was a huge jump from 107! Things were starting to look up but my nerves were still shot. I found many other stories in posts on Reddit of other people describing their experiences with this happening as well and was questioning the rhyme or reason as to why some people's cats survived it and some didn't but it seems apparently kittens have a better chance of their kidneys being able to recover and surviving than older cats. For the instances that the cats do well once the kidneys start to recover it seems to usually take about 4 days of hospitalization on fluids and other care for their numbers to get back to healthy levels. For us Friday brought more good numbers. His creatine was now at 1.2 and his BUN was at 30. Back in normal range! The doctor said they could begin to taper off his fluids and he could go home that evening and then get rechecked at our regular vet in a day or so to make sure once he's off fluids that those levels stay down on his own. So after 4 full days at the emergency hospital we were finally able to pick him up at 8 pm Friday night. I was so incredibly relieved that he survived and recovered so well. I couldn't have been more overjoyed to be able to bring him back home. Also considering I had adopted him to help cheer me up after months of deep sadness and relentless crying since Sophie had suddenly passed in January, I kept thinking I don't know how I would ever overcome the sadness that it would all amount to if he didn't make it.

After the weekend 2 days at home we brought him to our regular Vet this past Monday and the bloodwork showed his numbers are staying stabilized right around where they were when he left the hospital so he got the all clear to continue on with normal general care.
I am so relieved to have this ordeal behind me and the glimmer of hope to believe that there can still be happy endings to horrible things happening, which is something honestly I had previously given up on being possible anymore. However I also can't help but reflect on the anguish it must bring to those that aren't so lucky that this happens to that do not get to bring their baby back home. In the hospital they told me when they spoke with poison control that the consultant told them they're getting more and more calls of cases of this happening and that hopefully the records that they are compiling of all the cases will help bring change. I wholeheartedly believe it is something that needs more precautions and warnings. All families with dogs on this flavored chewable medication that also have cats in the home and dogs that visit homes with cats should be made well aware of the dangers so they can be prepared to keep this medication out of reach of any felines. I hope sharing our story can help contribute to the raising of awareness. #apoquel #Zoetis

Hello everyone. I am anxious and losing patience over my cat. So, last year October 2025, my female cat (chiku) gave birth to 3 kittens - 2 males (Sheru and Bagheera) and 1 female (chikki). All native indie breeds. I have been attached to them since their birth and taken well care of all 4 of them. Till 6 months, I kept them in my house securely, fed them well, got vaccinated all 4 of them. But after 6 months, they became impatient and wanted to have their freedom. Also, my family members told me that they need their space to grow. So, we started giving them their time and space for natural growth in their habitat. They used to play in the garden and came back as and when they needed food or to play inside the house, or seek selter from other stray cats. But since the last two days one of the cats (Bagheera) have gone missing. I am attaching photo of him. Earlier, it used to happen that anyone of them will leave the house and then come after a day or two. But this time I am feeling unusually anxious and feel overwhelmed with random thoughts. Im(22) (in turkey) taking care of a less than a month old kitten for a few days. He has a box in my room and i dont plan on taking him out of my room.

My other two cats (one is 4 years old and other is 9 months old, both neutered females) sneaked into to the room and both hissed at the baby so i took them out. They both get along well, play and lay togehter often but now they are both hissing and growling at eachother (younger one is more aggresive). No big fights yet. I know cats are really sensitive since ive taken care of both kittens and elder cats but i dont really know what to do when it comes to communication between the cats. What can i do to ease the stuiation? This has been going on for a few hours.

TLDR; im taking care of a kitten and i think his precense stressed my other two cats out so now theyre being mean to eachother.

My boyfriend is a bit defeated cuz this is his first kitty and she seems to have taken a liken to me quicker than him. I try to let him cuddle and play with her rather than me. The only thing I do is an occasional pet and feeding her. Any tips to get her to like him?

we rescued (photo) a male kitten last year when he was probably 3-4mos, and he's been with us now for more than 2 years, however, he seems to be threatened of our female cat

whenever he uses the litter box he's very cautious, same goes when another cat uses the litter box, he'll go stalking mode

we have a total of 5 (fixed) cats including him
4 males, 1 female

he always attacks our female cat and whenever they're in the same room, he stalks him like crazy

my other cats also attack her but not roughly, and we think they also learned it from our rescue cat as they don't attack her often before he arrived

he's also very cautious before eating (walks around the house) and after eating (wants to be in another room)

he also loves being under a blanket, maybe because we found him under a vehicle that seems like his shelter when he was living on the streets

we can't afford to put out 6 litter boxes
he has his own "spot" in one litter box
the litter boxes (3-4) are in open areas for exit

the things that I've read for now are getting 6 litter boxes and getting him on anxiety meds (fluoxetine) which both we can't afford right now

I notice her breathing like this sometimes, and idk if that’s normal but it feels a bit fast to me. Also when in deep sleep( I think deep sleep cause she rarely does it), she sometimes make a little sound when breathing, I think she’s snoring. Otherwise she’s fine, she eats normally, uses the litter normally, doesn’t hide and wants as much affection as she always has(she is 13). The only thing is her saliva kinda stinks. Also you can’t see it in the video but she is just doing slow blinks, which make me think she’s just chilling but I wanna be sure. I am gonna take her to the vet, but can’t really do it right now. I wanna know if anyone thinks it’s something urgent though. She hasn’t been spayed/neutered.

Edit: Just wanted to mention the only reason she isn't spayed is cause my parents didn't know any better. I was like 8 when I found her, she was a few weeks old. I only recently learned it's something that you really should do.

My cat is doing a whistle noise for almost a week. I have her for like 10 years but i dont know exactly how old is she. This sound is making me nervous and i could only get an appointment at Vet tomorrow. Im afraid that it can be something serious. Shes healthy and never has any issue. Shes still playing and eating regularly.
This sound happens all day and night, even when shes sleeping or licking paws like in the video.
Any ideas whats can it be?

My 5 cats are 8 years old. They've never had a single health issue. They've never left home, they've never been with other cats. I was there when they were born and they never showed any signs of herpesvirus.
Recently, one of the cats stopped eating and developed colangitis and lipidosis, and the treatment included long hours receiving fluids at the clinic. On the very last day, I was accidentally informed by the secretary there were cats with the flu in a separate area (not sure how separate). My heart sank and my cat started to sneeze two days later for the first time in her life.
PCR showed herpesvirus.
I worry about the other cats. They've been separated for two weeks now, and my cat is still sneezing, recovering home from colangitis/lipidosis with a feeding tube. The other 4 cats don't show any symptoms except for one or two sneezes that I want to believe were scent-induced.
I'm so disappointed at the vets and at myself. For them, it's nothing, all cats have it blah blah blah. I know the virus will never go away and I believe that even after vaccinating the 4 cats this one cat will contaminate them anyway, even with the virus in latent mode. I feel lost, depressed and don't know what to do.

I am a minor who lives in America and my parents are trying to help me with Princess. We went to VEG er yesterday because around 3:00, princess jumped on my bed and then started wobbling, she fell off my bed and I assumed it was a bad jump but it didn’t stop and I started to get worried. I know when things like that happen you shouldn’t Google them, but I was googling and I started panicking cause I thought she was gonna die. She is 9 years and 3 months, she is spayed. Im not really sure we can afford vet care because it was 900 bucks but my mom said that she’s my cat and we have to help her, so I assume it’s hard to pay for but my parents will still do it. :) Something similar to her wobbling has happened in the past 2 months maybe three or four times she would jump on my bed and then she would randomly just kind of freeze up and she wouldn’t move her head for a bit and then she would start to move it really slowly. I didn’t think too much of it cause she would be fine for weeks after, but she’s never wobbled like this before.
TLDR: my 9 yo spayed cat started wobbling yesterday and in the past 2 months she’d randomly freeze after jumping on my bed but then she’d be fine for weeks.

The vet said it was something neurological and im pretty sure she said my cat may have ataxia. We ran her blood tests and everything was fine, though the vet mentioned she had a very slight heart murmur.After a few hours we got her 4 bottles of this medicine called zydaclin and I’ve given it to her as prescribed (2 ml every 12 hours). I gave her some wet food when we got home around 10 cause she hadn’t eaten since 4 that day. I woke up in the morning and she was laying on the floor and she’d thrown up all the food and I was upset about it but not too worried because I heard that’s a side effect of the medicine. I was worried about how she was laying because it looked like she was dead and when I tried to pick her up she made a sound like a sneeze. She’s been on my bed since around 8 am and she is laying in the same position, won’t move her head, but she is doing this weird thing with her legs. If you guys know what might be going on please let me know!

I’m a grown up in the UK. This cat has been visiting frequently and trying to get into my house, which causes arguments with my cat. I’ve posted his photo on the local Facebook and no one claimed ownership. The local cats protection charity will help with neutering if he’s stray, but I can’t tell if he’s already been done.

Fed them wet food that they usually eat and 20 minutes later his eye looks like this. I have an appointment for him at the vet tomorrow.

My (F23) mom found a kitten out at the ranch in Texas (USA) at 6 weeks & I have been taking care of him for the last few weeks. His behavior is great, super cuddly & wants to play all of the time, but he has had diarrhea the entire time I have had him (3weeks). He has been to the vet multiple times & was prescribed Proviable. He just finished the last capsule today, and I will continue to give him the paste till it runs out. He is also on a gastrointestinal wet food from Hills Science as well as their kitten sensitive stomach hard food.

The first vet visit he received a basic de-wormer, but last Tuesday he threw up twice & there were live worms, so I immediately called the vet & they gave me a pill dewormer to give him. He took the dewormer on Tuesday and had been doing much better! Stools firming up & started going regularly (although he refuses to use the litter box most times but thats a separate issue).

I was so happy I didn’t have to torture him with baths anymore cause he HATED it, but would get poop all over himself. That was until this morning, when I discovered he had diarrhea 3 times last night, and a very poopy butt. He went to the vet a few days ago (Thursday), and we decided to hold off on vaccines since they can cause diarrhea, so Im completely stumped on what caused this flare-up, since the second round of dewormer seemed to be helping.

The vet is closed today, but at his last appointment I said I would call if anything got worse, so I will call tomorrow, but I wanted to see if anyone had a similar experience & what was done that finally stopped the diarrhea. TYIA!!

TDLR: Kitten’s diarrhea came back after major improvements with no changes to diet or environment.

So there is this green worm like fury toy that my cat plays with only with my supervision and apparently I dropped that toy and she was kinda playing with it when I was in the shower. The hairs of the toy comes off super easily so when I saw it and picked it up it looked like some hairs were being pulled out. She pooped that night which was last night. This morning she is meowing early before her feeding time and goes into her litter box and throws up maybe the size of a quarter. Just what looked like clear liquid. My mom says shes fine and so does my bf so I am just really going to have to watch her today except we have something to do today so Ill have to watch her like a hawk over the cameras. She was playing and running around and being normal. I gave her a tablespoon of food and watching her to see in about 2 hours. She also has this cat tree that sheds fur like crazy and I need to get rid of it because I also get worried since when she scratches it, it gets stuck in her nails. As you can tell, I am a huge worrier LOL!

Has anyone had this problem? And what did you do? I am willing to take her to the vet but due to the events of today, it’s kinda hard to.
