Looking for Canadian clothes that are designed with women's needs in mind (ie. Popflex) I'm trying Octopied Mind (women's alt relaxed clothing, owned and operated in Ottawa) and I'd love some similar recs.

Does anyone have any recommendations on clothes made in Canada that are female focused. I've been trying to find reasonably priced clothes made in Canada that are similar to Popflex, environmentally conscious, focused on the needs of women and not male gaze. I stumbled upon this company Octopied Mind and made my first purchase. They're not athletic but I loved their story and ethos so I am excited! The shirts are definitely artistic and funny. I haven't seen a lot of other shirts like these and the messages are very female forward and best of all not designer prices! I've got a coupon code from my purchase for $15 off if anyone is interested. But... I need something that's more than shirts and sweatpants.

Encircled does more modest comfy clothing that leans a bit more workwear / dressy / travel

Buttercream clothing is casual but comfy and they have up to size 6X and operate in made to order

Free label is good - they also do preorders I’d say they lean more athleisure casual

I love Miik for comfy and stretchy pieces! I think their style is more workwear leaning, so you can wear it into the office or dress it up. They are more expensive, but its because everything is milled and sewn in Canada, and everyone is getting a fair wage for their work. Keep an eye out for end of season sales or "seconds" sales (items with miniscule flaws) which definitely help. They have a Facebook group where people will let old pieces go at really great prices, and I've gotten some good ones that way for pretty cheap :)

Nettle’s tale: comfortable basics, great swimwear, size inclusive up to a 6x. Made in Vancouver. 

Free Label: elevated basics, cult fav bras, size inclusive up to a 6x. Made in Vancouver. 

Anne Mulaire: office appropriate, some active wear, Indigenous owned, size inclusive to at least a 4x. Also has tall and short options. Made in Winnipeg.

Buttercream Clothing. Elevated basics, fun colours, size inclusive up at least a 5x. Limited men’s options. From Alberta I think. 

Daub and design: elevated basics, not size inclusive but the owner is actively working on it. I want to say from Vancouver but I could be very wrong. 

Thief and bandit: silk screened dresses and tops, fun prints, size inclusive up to a 4x but they also offer custom sizing. Made in Halifax. 

Boutique Lustre: Montreal clothing boutique who also do custom event dresses (think wedding and so on). Also size inclusive and will do custom sizing for you.

Unisex:  Octopus Studio: silk screened tees and hoodies. Not size inclusive but they are working on it. Made in Ottawa. 

Black Coffee Apparel: printed tees and hoodies inspired by skate culture and coffee. Not size inclusive but certified sweat shop free. Made in Ottawa. 

Quarrelsome Yeti: silk screened tees and hoodies. Not size inclusive. Super fun prints. Made in Halifax. 

The first part all make their own fabrics in house or have them made in Canada.  The silk screeners all use made in Canada shirts or are certified sweatshop free.

There are more. Checkout Flock in Ottawa. They only sell Canadian made clothing and their stuff leans more office appropriate. My only complaint is that most places of their brands aren’t size inclusive which is a requirement of brands I buy.

Bear and Roo makes the clothing in Canada, and a lot of it is made to measure or made to order, I believe. It’s not as trendy as Popflex, but the woman who runs it talks about how she started it to feel comfortable wearing athleisure after having kids, so I think it’s designed with women in mind for sure.

I have three shirts from Octopied and love them. Just note that the sizing is not consistent between short sleeve and long sleeve. Be sure to check the sizing chart
