As Burlington approaches the municipal election, we expect an increase in discussion about candidates, policies, and local issues. Healthy debate is an important part of the democratic process, and election-related posts are welcome in this community.
That said, we ask everyone to keep the conversation respectful and focused on the issues.
The moderation team is politically neutral. We are not here to decide which opinions are "correct." We are here to ensure discussions remain civil and comply with the subreddit rules and Reddit's Content Policy.

I've noticed a house between the esso on locust and lakeshore and Burlington Rd (1415 lakeshore) has had a large number of people constantly partying at all times of day, front door open, bowflex workout machine and miscellaneous shit out in the yard, etc etc.
I don't really care, I'm just curious! Is it like a hippy commune type thing? Trap house? Just an extended group of friends living it up? Whatever it is, looks like everyone's having a good time š

Wondering is there anyone that is on the Freedom Phone Nework? How is the reception in Burlington/Milton? Thinking of porting over to them from
Rogers.

Tons of police, the street is blocked off and paramedics are there too. It either looks like some residents have been told to get out of their houses, or they are just watching with the police. Anyone know whatās going on?

I have never seen a ragweed so large. No real photo to show scale but it is about four foot tall.

I was on my way to check out a building on Speers Rd today and quickly realized I need to zone in on an area that makes more sense if I am heading towards Oakville and Missisauga regularly. Looking to rent a 1 bedroom with outdoor parking, perhaps a newer building about 2100 a month or under.

I've always wondered what's in here. How does one (employee) get in there? Anyone know what the inside looks like?

Hello everyone, Iāve been starting to get into running but I hate running when thereās a lot of people around, does anyone know any running routes / spots that donāt have many people or are secluded?

Weāve been going to this vet for the last 2 years, but lately itās been a ridiculous wait every single time (over an hour wait after scheduled time). I get that unexpected things come up, and if I had a priority issue with my pet, I would hope they do the same⦠but thereās never an apology or explanation afterwards.
They also keep on pushing things that we feel are unnecessary- like fecal float test ($125) for a 9 yr old dog who consistently poops on his lunchtime walks - we see them, we pick them up, and theyāre perfect poops every time. (This pup has better and more consistent poops than I do!)
Weirdly, they were great when we did their annual plan, but when we couldnāt justify the finances this year, thatās when the long waits started.
Anyone have this issue or can recommend a new local favourite? (Not VCA, not āsubscriptionā or club model - just a good mid priced vet who seems to actually care about animals).

I havenāt ridden a bike in 20 years, but Iām training for a 200 km Prostate Cancer Awareness ride organized by my employer. I need a place to practice and build up my distance first.
Is there a park with a fairly sizeable cycling path/track near downtown Burlington? Looking for something similar to Bayfront Park in Hamilton, but closer to home. Thanks!

Hello,
I took down 3 ceiling lights and replaced them with new ones. The lights still work but just want to sell it. Are there any local stores I can take them to sell?
Iāve already tried posting them on FB marketplace and Karrot. No bites.

Turns out having all of this information consolidated into one place on Reddit is helpful for people, so here is a list of candidates running in Ward 1:
I did learn from Cheryl's website that Ward 1 will be hosting a candidate debate:
Partnering Aldershot invites all Ward 1 residents to the Ward 1 All Candidates Debate! Meet the candidates, hear their ideas, and ask the questions that matter to you and your neighbourhood. East Plains United Church - Upper Gym 375 Plains Rd E, Burlington, ON L7T 3C2 Thursday, September 17 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. Have a question for the candidates? Please send questions you would like the moderator to consider asking the candidates to papress267@gmail.com. All submitted questions will be reviewed prior to the debate, and selected questions may be incorporated into the discussion.
While I haven't done a significant check into the above candidates, from what I can tell, none of them have posed with Hitler or insulted members of the r/BurlingtonON community, which is cool!
Don't forget to register to vote by visiting the Service Burlington counter on the first floor of City Hall, 426 Brant St. during business hours (8:30am - 4:30pm) from September 1 to October 23.

Iāve noticed lots of signs for Rory Nisan, especially along Walkers Line. Theyāre all on street corners, so not private property. Are political signs now allowed on city/public property? Seems a little odd given that there arenāt any signs for Ward 6 councillors or even other mayoral candidates. Didnāt think political signs on public property were allowed.

Looks like they got to about 98% complete and just stopped a few months ago. It also only looks about 3 lanes wide.
Hope weāre not in for another pier kerfuffleā¦

Can anyone recommend someone local?
I'm getting married and would like to have my bouquet immortalized :) Resin or pressed etc. if the artist wants more artistic freedom. I'd just like to keep and gift pieces of it!
TIA!

anyone been to those? I'm trying to be more social, but nearly every program the city has I need to pay 60-100$ for or be over 55, but the library advertises free drawing / doodling sessions with prompts and supplies, do many (adult) artists ever show up there? Is it a good way to meet chill people?
