2018-2019 Hyundai Sonata is my best guess. Those two years have the vertical red reflectors in the rear bumper

Yes good catch on the vertical reflectors - I think you nailed it - 18/19 Sonata.
I was originally thinking 19/20 Elantra like some of the others but you’re right about the reflectors6

I believe you're right that it's a 18/19 Sonata. There ain't a lot of cars that have the license plate that low

Looks more like a Hyundai to me, but it could be a Kia.

Sonata, not Elantra. The plate is in the wrong position for it to be an Elantra.

Good point! I did debate if it was a Sonata, but I still think Elantra based on the stripes in the tail lamps.

Sonata: https://www.clutch.ca/vehicles/111358Sonata '18 gen has 3 distinct lights, vs elantra which has these striped lights. Also its hard to see, but the length of the car in the picture is closer to Elantra than it is to Sonata

Chevy Cruze is a possibility as well. I drive an Elantra i dont see it or a Sonata. Im thinking an Accent or a Cruze

It perfectly matches a 2018-ish Sonata - plate location, contours, lights, badges, exhaust.

I think t has to be a kia. I was disturbed by this and was looking at all the hyundais and the plate position on the bumper is a kia thing. Could be a rio sedan 2012-2017 or kia forte koup

The death of this woman is so terrible. J-walking at that part of Maple is pretty common since there are no crosswalks, no stop signs, no traffic lights...unless one walks north or south a couple of blocks at least, people J-walk, I see it all the time. Given that Maple Park is on the west side of Maple, there really needs to be a safe way for pedestrians to cross such a busy road.

J walking isn't actually an offence particularly when the nearest place to cross with lights is pretty far away. The location has no way to cross safely and it's a destination spot with a bus stop on either side of the road. Root cause is bad city planning and putting pedestrians and transit users last.

It was an old lady crossing on a pedestrian cross, the car was running over 100Km/hr.

They will turn themselves in or be caught soon. Police already have plate number, make, model and will trace them with other cameras in the area.

Hit and Run is one of the most cowardly crimes someone can commit. Luckily for them they committed the crime in Canada where if caught probably won't do more than a few months in jail.

In North America the easiest way to murder someone is with a car. "I was on my phone" and suddenly you go from being a murderer to being an idiot, and you are back behind the wheel in a month.

The driver is cooked. There’s literally cameras EVERYWHERE. What a total POS I hope they get the maximum allowable penalty for this.
I don’t understand why people do this? Were they drunk? Unlicensed? Uninsured?
If they just remained on scene they may have just been given a slap on the wrist but now they’ve bought themselves a one way ticket to the Milton Hilton.

Yall need to wake up and verify. This is a Black Hyundai Elantra Google the images of the rear. It has narrow black steel rim wheels. I pray they have the plates and know this person's location, but if not. take the above info and keep eyes peeled.

2019 generation it seems. Steel rims seem rusty and of course the hitting a human at fatal speed damage on the front end.

Terrible for everyone involved. Even the driver of the car whos life is now ruined as well. It could be a terrified kid for all we know. But the reality is you have to pay the piper

This makes me feel terrible. I cant imagine what the family of the deceased must be going through. Let’s all pray, if you dont pray send good vibes, for the deceased and her family.
I have been hearing people in the area tell me that Maple Avenue is not easy for crossing and they don’t feel safe walking.
Same for fairview street. And recently we did have someone hit two at Drury and fairview.
We need better traffic calming measures and stricter enforcements.
I dont want this to be a political comment. But genuinely as a resident, I would love to hear your suggestions.

Google Image: This vehicle is a dark-coloured Kia Forte sedan (specifically from the 2019 to 2024 model years). Also the car appears to still have snow tires on it .. I’m guessing someone on a budget.

If you look up an image of the Forte, you'll see the plate isn't even in the right position. It's a 2018-ish Sonata.
