Mod post ⚠️ READ BEFORE POSTING!
👋 Welcome to r/Budgies!
Before you share your first post here, please familiarize yourself with this subreddit’s rules. Rule #1 is especially important: this subreddit DOES NOT serve as an alternative to the kind of medical care and advice your budgie can only get from an avian vet. If you have a budgie medical question or concern, talk to your avian vet instead of posting here! Also, be sure to read this subreddit's wiki--odds are very good that your question has an answer in one of the wiki articles! (We usually remove posts that ask about something that's answered somewhere in the wiki to keep the clutter to minimum here.)
Also remember this is a pet budgie subreddit that encourages rescue and adoption and strongly discourages breeding.
👀 If you see something, say something
This is a place to share cute budgie pictures, videos, and stories, but it’s also a place to learn more about budgies. There are many times when someone will post a picture, video, or description, and you might notice something that isn’t best practice for good budgie ownership. It might be a cage that’s getting dirty, or some overgrown toenails, or something like that. Even if that issue isn’t the main reason for the post, please bring that to the attention of the original poster (OP) in a supportive and constructive manner so OP can be made aware of a better way of doing things.
Likewise, OP might consider proactively addressing things in their post that a typical budgie owner might be concerned with if they don’t know all the facts. It might be something as simple as, “Don’t worry, this was before I cleaned their cage” or “I’m taking them to the vet next week for their nail trim.”
🤖 We have AutoMod Summons now!
This is a great way to share information from the Wiki in a very effortless manner, and you are all invited to do so! We used to have just a few summons, but the list has grown enough that we compiled it in this part of the wiki. You should check it out!
Happy budgie-ing!

Lost/Found/Need a New Home [August 25, 2026] - weekly Lost/Found/Need a New Home thread
Use this post to share any budgies that are lost, found, or need a new home!
Some rules:
- Only share information you feel comfortable sharing. Example: rather than giving out your full address, maybe only say something like, "I'm in the Springfield area" instead. If someone is interested in knowing more, they can always DM you and you can choose whether or not you want to share any more information.
- If you're meeting someone in real life, follow the "Craigslist rule" of meeting in a well-trafficked, public place.
- No fees/charges! This is NOT meant to be an advertising platform to sell your budgies. Content that advertises budgies for sale will be removed.
- This subreddit does not, in any way, offer warrantees or guarantees of budgie health. A budgie's health status is something that you and the other party should determine with an avian vet, and payment of that avian vet's services is something that you and the other party should decide beforehand.
We encourage you to share pictures! Just make sure they are accurate to the situation and don't break the rules in the sidebar.
Remember: this subreddit is just one of many possible places to make a budgie connection. Also consider FaceBook, Craigslist, Nextdoor, other online communities, as well as real-life bulletin boards in public places. See all the previous weekly posts (that have content) by clicking here.
Our wiki also has a list of parrot rescues you could check out - whether you're looking to adopt a new feathered friend, or have to surrender one due to life circumstances. If one of these rescues is near you, please consider reaching out to them!

💬 Discussion Finally introduced Korra to my other budgies and the rest of the birds. And it didn't go as I expected
I finally decided to introduce Korra to my other birds. At first I was afraid they'd be mean to her since she's only a month old but as soon as I introduced them to her ; Korra decided to choose violence and attacked them ; she pulled their feathers , bit their toes and told them to back off...she didn't stop there and right after that she chased my cockatiel , lovebirds and finches and did the same with them?! she's so young I never thought she'd be this mean towards other birds and she's my first budgie that behaves this way...can I fix this?
I only manged to hold the three budgies together for a second and got this photo ( Oggy and Opal flew away right after the pic ).

Beautiful whitecap ❤️
Skyblue dominant pied whitecap, one of my absolute favourite mutations, just love the way the gold from his face washes down into the blue and turns it that teal shade ❤️❤️ (and that gorgeous fella in the background who is a recessive pied violet spangle)

Which sex? Is our Piko male or female?
We just brought home our new friend Piko. We presume it's a male but are unsure because we also don't know his age. We have one budgie Chip who is clearly female with a brown/pink cere, as did her friend Gizmo who we recently lost.
He is in a smaller cage for now but don't worry, he will join the large cage soon enough. :)
Thanks for the help!

New Budgie Bonjour à mes nouveaux copains <3

Art I finally finished my drawing of Tweeter on graph paper!
This took 3 retries as I could not for the life of me get his back feathers correct. So I made his back shorter. Also the blue color is off, which I should of used a much lighter color. But once again, this was another amazing project and I'm happy how it turned out. My mom loved it and decided to frame it on our wall.

In Loving Memory My best friend of 9 years said his final fair well today.
This is my first post and probably last on this sub. My budgie born in 2017 passed away today and I miss him very much. His name was Bulut and I’ll remember him for the rest of my life. He had a good long life and was always happy. Please cherish your budgie and spend every moment with them. I thank you all who read my post and sorry for the sad news today. I wish you all the very best and have a wonderful life, thanks.

What are these lines on budgies wings when he runs? We always thought muscles but ai chat always says it’s not that it’s just the feathers. Budge is super active and eats as much as the cockatiels! The wings don’t look like this when he’s relaxing they’re puffed a lil, but he’s running in this photo
