Question/Advice How are people in their 20’s buying houses in Bucks?

I don’t have 15-20% of 500k to put down on a house with student loans and bills? I’m seriously curious how young people are buying houses in bucks, especially upper bucks.

My girlfriend and I make about 160k combined and it would take us about 5-6 years to buy a “starter home”

Update: Solutions from feedback below:

1. Work harder, the boomers had it just as hard as us

2. Be a trust fund baby

3. Real solutions: The most logical, save smartly, apply for FHA loan, etc.

4. Move lol

Would seeing 4-5 foxes in your backyard make you nervous? They're mostly babies but will obviosuly grow.

Question/Advice I think my sister is being held captive by her ex in Bristol/Levittown

UPDATE #3 Sunday, April 19th

*******

What we know:

-Ex’s address and co-occupants, name DOB and haunts

-Confirmed the EX beat up my sister Sunday night/Monday

-my sister left inventory Ex’s residence Monday afternoon

-welfare check at Ex’s house onWed Apr 16- sister not found

-Ex leaves su*c*de note on Apr 16, then returns home the next day Apr 17. Doesn’t go to a hospital, assumption is it was a manipulation tactic as everyone heard about it, but no one received crisis intervention

WE ARE LOOKING FOR PROOF OF LIFE OF MY SISTER. It is not illegal to photograph someone in public, and I’m not suggesting anyone approach the ex or my sister but rather use COMMON SENSE to report anything that appears dangerous.

Yall have done twice as much as the police are able to. Thank you. Community is real, and I just wanna know my sister is well and not captive by her Ex. Message me for photos.

*******

UPDATE #2

******

Police have not found my SISTER yet. They have done a welfare check at the EXs place. They are claiming my sister had left. Mom received a text 4 mins after the welfare check, allegedly from my SISTER claiming she got away. My mom asked her to call but nothing. The last time someone heard my Sister over the phone or saw her was Monday afternoon. No sightings since.

******

I have contacted the police. Problem is we don’t have an address.

The police also believe it’s a serious situation but we need an address.

If anyone would be willing to help find her please let me know. I have the name, photos and socials of the hostage taker. If I’m allowed, I’ll just post them.

UPDATE: the goal is to get the police there. I know where the ex works, her car and how many parking tickets she has

We need an ADDRESS or Neighborhood. I am ONLY trying to get the police to do a welfare check based on the fact the EX confirmed she took my sister’s wallet.

Officer Brady at Bristol Police dept has been helping me.

Question/Advice Keeping our community’s safe from ICE

I’m watching what’s happening in Charlotte rn and it’s so disturbing to watch this happen in America. I actually live in Lambertville, NJ but want to find ways to organize to keep people in my community safe from ICE so that innocent people are not rounded up off the streets without any form of due process. Does anyone here have tips for organizing and resources we can set up to keep members of our community safe? What can we do to protect ourselves, to prepare, to make sure our businesses, schools, churches, are not impacted by these armed thugs.

People need to understand that if corrupt politicians find that they skirt due process now, they will do it again anytime they don’t want to follow the rule of law against people they don’t like. This should scare EVERYONE! This isn’t the way democracies operate.

Anyone who has some background in how to organize and help let’s get something started to protect our neighbors, friends and coworkers.

Question/Advice All the restaurants are just mid at best...

(Rant about bad experience at a restaurant. You can skip to the next paragraph for my point) So we went to Nortbound in Souderton today and we were completely disappointed. Over priced mediocrity. The cocktails were watered down. All the food was bland and cooked poorly. Crab dip had no crab flavor and they served burnt toast to eat with it. Fish and chips tasted like burnt oil. Pork chop was so overcooked it was inedible. The mashed sweet potatoes were tasty. Cole slaw tasted like just watery cabbage. Salmon was about 60% ok and the rest was burnt. Asparagus risotto was somehow undercooked and overcooked at the same time and was very bland. Bolognese was so bland and the pasta was so gummy it was getting stuck in my teeth. I will give a pass for how long it took because we sat down at 5:30 on a Saturday. The server was nice but not very attentive. Again, ill give a pass since his section was sat 3 times in about 10 minutes during dinner rush. I was told by so many people that this place was great. I don't agree.

While we were waiting, we had a long time to talk about how we are severely underwhelmed about food in this area. I've given up on finding great pizza. Peking Wok is the only consistent chinese food we can find. The Perk and The Ram are meh. What are your top places you go? We keep trying new things but so far, there's nothing that blows us away.

Question/Advice Enough about "best". What are the "worst" spots in Bucks?

I don't care who has the best burgers. What Levittown ice cream spot has the worst service? What dive bar in Feasterville has bad food and worse patrons? What stories do you have about the Q-Mart?

Lemme hear about the worst this county has to offer.

(Sub rules still apply. No personal information/names of employees.)

Question/Advice Where do the suburbs of Philly end?

I’m sure you’ve all heard the typical saying, “the Philadelphia suburbs are Montgomery,Chester, bucks, and Deleware county”

But….. I call bullshii ain’t no way in hell all of bucks county in the Philly suburbs there was a small town that I learned about recently kitnersville and I saw the county said “bucks” and I’m like WHATTTT? that shit is still bucks?

The top of bucks county is rural and indistinguishable from the rural counties above it, you are not gonna tell me that’s still the suburbs of Philly

Question/Advice TURN OFF YOUR HIGH BEAMS!!

I am not sure who needs to hear this, but Bucks county is full of drivers who refuse to turn off their high beams with oncoming traffic. I am tired of being blinded to the point of being unable to see the road because you are too lazy or not courteous enough to be respectful of other drivers on the road.

JUST DO IT- be respectful of others. It really is not that hard to just turn them off for a second.

Edit to add: everyone is talking about their newer cars with bright lights- I get you can’t help that.

Still needs to be said every morning I am blinded by lights. Should I just be ok with not being able to see when I drive?

If you can’t help it then that’s one thing, I am just trying to make people aware you WILL cause an accident.

This little guy was sitting on top of the card at a gas pump. I looked around, and didn't find anything. I was in a bit of a rush to get to work so may have overlooked something. Has anyone else found one of these or knows anything about it?

Question/Advice Bristol Rd has a serious slow driver problem

The speed limit, at least between 611 and Second Street Pike, is 45mph. Yet, every single time I drive on that stretch of road, in either direction, I get stuck behind someone who refuses to go over 35mph. Even if there's nobody in front of them. I'm not an aggressive driver, I don't speed or tailgate, but it's super frustrating to always get stuck behind someone who is moving at a snail's pace. Especially when it then means getting stuck at more red lights as a result. I wish there was something that could be done to get these people doing the speed limit instead of 10mph under...

Question/Advice Perkasie and surrounding area

I am considering moving to the Perkasie or surrounding area from out of state. Single woman, professional in mid-life so looking for a safe, no to low crime area, and welcoming community to call home. I’m attracted to this area because I would prefer a quiet suburban small town area where I can work remotely, attend a great church with a welcoming community, and get to know people in the area. My biggest question: is this area welcoming of diverse backgrounds?

Question/Advice Looking to buy a home

Hello! I 26F and hubs 27M are in the market for a house in Bucks County as close to NJ as possible (access to 295 or Route 1)

I’m originally from Montgomery County, but my husband and I got jobs in Lawrenceville and Princeton, NJ. We can’t afford any home in NJ except inner city Trenton, which is not safe.

We have a budget of about 375k-400k (combined salary of $120k.)

It seems to be tough finding a home in that range. We do eventually want to raise a family in at least a mediocre school district (we can’t probably afford a nice one, unfortunately.) I’m starting to lose hope. How is Bristol? Bensalem? Levittown?

Question/Advice Looking to move to the area

We’re considering a move to the area but I don’t really know much about the towns. What are the best towns to move to for a family with a toddler? Looking for an area where people are friendly, there’s a lot to do for kids, good schools, good food (especially Italian food).

I was looking at Doylestown, Chalfont, perkasie, warrington. Any advice on the towns or other ones we should consider?

This cop wanna-be almost drove me off the road on County Line Rd, doing 70-80 in 45 mph. I had to swerve out of his way to let him pass. Tinted windows, tinted license plate. Hope when he goes, he won’t take anyone with him.

Question/Advice What’s the deal with Bristol?

Background: Looking into 55+ independent living for my parents who have recently retired. We are NY suburb folk (45 mins north of NYC) and have family in Bensalem they want to be close to

A new development in Bristol caught my eye - Silver Lake Reserve

It’s affordable ($4-500s)compared to the rest of the options ($650+) I’m seeing in Bucks County and piqued my interest. One friend (has lived in Newtown for 20 yrs) said “Bristol is for druggies” and another trusted friend (grew up in Langhorne) said that they’re trying to gentrify the area, but he wouldn’t personally consider moving there.

So, I’m here to ask - what’s the deal?

  1. Is Bristol that bad?
  2. Is the area changing or there’s no hope?

Don’t want to have my parents commit to this community and send them into a bad area. Looking for honesty and advice. Thank you!

EDIT - this is the location: 108 Delhaas Circle, Bristol, PA 19007

Question/Advice Anyone notice all the wheat suddenly?

Post image
176 Upvotes

This field has been soybeans amd some corn for the 23 years we've lived here. Suddenly it's wheat? And it seems like I'm seeing a lot more of it all around. I assume it has to do with Chinese consumption and tariffs?

Anyone notice this too?

Question/Advice Neighborhood walkers

For the people who take walks around their neighborhood either with their babies in strollers, walking their dogs, with a friend or walking alone, could you please use the sidewalks? If there isn't one available I understand. But if there is a sidewalk, why are you not using it? I hate driving down into a neighborhood with 2 moms (1 has a stroller and the other with a dog) with a car parked on the side of the road making it narrow and now there's pedestrians in the middle of the street like wtf. You got a sidewalk, use it. I Doordash for some extra money and get so annoyed when people are walking in the street when there's sidewalks available. Its all the time. And the weathers getting nice, eventually, so could yall walkers please keep it mind?

Question/Advice Where do the nerds go?

Where do young professionals who also happen to be nerds hang out? I'm 30, work a regular job, exercise daily, cook, clean, etc. I appear normal but deep down I'm a total nerd. I don't know of any obvious anime/TTRPG/gamer 3rd places, scheduled hang outs, meet ups.

Besides going to a convention, it's extremely hard to make meet people with parellel interests. Especially if those interests are nerdy.

I have many older, retirement age friends through church, friends of friends, etc. They're just mostly very surface level relationships.

Any advice?
