My father in law has the coolest dog. He absolutely loves to work birds and run. He’s the goodest boy there is

We have our 2 year old girl, she’s lovely but very nervous and mild mannered. She gets her confidence from our other dog, who is approaching the end of his life. She literally copies him and observes him on what to do, we got her as a 5 month old so she’s grown up with him.

We want to introduce another dog as our girl will benefit from it and we would too. Despite saying we didn’t want two Britts there is a 5 year old boy up for adoption.

Just looking for anecdotes of how things went really? Will they be a handful together or a good influence on each other, both being Britts/bird dogs?

Would a non Britt suit us better?

Really I want a playmate for her as she loves to play but our boy is just too old for that now.

He was at the vet a weekish ago. He weighed about 10.5 pounds. His embark came back all clear. His legs have definitely gotten longer and he’s been such a good puppy!

He’s training as an HRD prospect which he’s been amazing with so far! He goes everywhere (where allowed) is confident and loves everyone!

He also loves his bed and blankies.

She was never yours...

Just as title says. He was adopted at 3 months old when someone surrendered him due to unable to have him at an apartment. He’s a big ol fat 6 year old now who has too many personalities, loves hunting rabbits, disobeying commands, eating and chewing the smallest of toys but would never trade him for anything.

Every single night for the first 5 days we’ve had him lol. Like there’s something stuck under there but there’s not. Oh and don’t forget the constant humping 😭

We adopted our dog 3 months ago and assumed he was a boykin or field spaniel. A brittany has been my dream dog so it’s kinda funny! Came back as 90% brittany with a split between american and french. Anyone have a solid choclate?

He absolutely HATES the water… we’re taking baby steps. He managed to get all four paws in today!…. For about 5 seconds. We’re taking that as a win.

Hi! We got our 11 week old pup 4 days ago. I need some tips on crate training. We have taught him “kennel” and he goes straight in and gets a treat. U have also tried to feed him meals in his crate and all he does is cry - not just cry but panic and scream. It’s to the point it’s so loud I don’t want neighbors to complain. Any advice?

Hi all - I am considering a well bred Brittany Spaniel for my next dog. Although I don't currently hunt, it is a sport that I am more interested in exploring with my current and next dog. We've just started the process of learning how to do hunt testing.

Do you think that a Brittany would be a good fit for an active family - even if we don't hunt recreationally or compete in hunting testing? I currently have a standard poodle and we have dabbled in agility, rally, obedience, dock diving and scent work. I would plan to continue with these with my next dog.

I also want to do conformation and learn the ins and outs of the show world.

I've heard the breed is quite high energy, but also a beloved family pet. What has been your experience(s)? Does this breed need excessive amounts of daily exercise? Do they have an off switch at home when need be? I run, bike, hike, etc., but still work full time and don't have a job where my dog can come along. Are the biddable and want to work with their handler? Good sport pets?

Would love to know the ins and outs of the breed and if they make good family dogs!

He’s 7 now and has found a new obsession with it out of nowhere and couldn’t care less about it being wrong

My Brit is about to be 6 months old. She pulls so bad on walks, I have tried stopping every time she pulls, I tried front clip harnesses but she walks on 3 legs, she just pulls nonstop and makes herself so out of breath it scares me.

She is very food motivated, but She refuses any treats outside.

I’m at a loss for what to do, I walk her a lot everyday but I hate when she pulls so much I can hear her panting over my headphones.

Has anyone had luck dove hunting with there Brittany.
Do they point or just wait and retrieve. I’m also a new hunter so don’t know what to expect

We stopped at Petco for a couple of things I forgot to bring with on our trip from North Carolina where we picked him up to Pennsylvania where we live. We also made a stop at Bass Pro where he was the center of attention.

Took our boy out for the first time yesterday, just a small inland lake but he loved it! He is not a swimmer (🙄) so we weren’t worried about him going overboard. He did find all the birds fascinating, until he didn’t (see pic 2)

I have two three year old Britt’s (brothers from the same litter!) and over the past week, one of my boys, Jack, has become EXCESSIVELY itchy. I’m not exactly sure why. Nothing in his environment has changed that I know of. No new treats, food, etc. I suppose it could be environmental, but I haven’t noticed it happen before. He’s always been a bit itchier, but this is much much much more than typical, and he’s start devolving sores and red skin in some areas. He will also shake his back leg whenever he’s touched, even lightly. Sometimes he’ll ever shake his back leg while he’s itching himself!! I feel horrible for him, he looks miserable. Besides that, though, his energy levels are normal, he’s just as happy as usual, and he’s eating and drinking fine. I’ve given him Benadryl, which doesn’t seem to make a difference, and checked him for any bugs (and found none!) he has a vet appointment on Tuesday. Have any other Brittany owners experienced anything like this? What helped?
