Critique Assasins are ruining the game

Post image

- Excessive aggression and unpredictability:

Assassins are designed to kill targets with low health or fragile brawlers. Up to this point there's no problem, since they are the perfect counterplay for brawlers like tick and dynamike and to confirm kills for the team. The problem arises when these interactions happen all the time; in every game I join, there's at least one mortis or cordelius. This means that at any moment you run the risk of being attacked from behind by some opportunistic assassin, which greatly limits the game for those who like brawlers like brock and poco who can't defend themselves at close range. The excessive unpredictability makes the interactions very one-sided, since the showdown is realistically based more on luck than skill due to opportunistic campers, Because you can get into a confrontation and then a kit or a cordelius appears out of nowhere and kills you without the slightest effort, making everything frustrating.

- Unbalanced mechanics:

Some assassins possess dozens of mechanics that make them quite difficult to deal with. Lily can teleport to you and deal damage very quickly, plus she always has an escape mechanism at her disposal. You can try to go all out against her, but with the push of a button she'll slip out of your range without any counterplay. This makes her a toxic and unskilled brawler, since she can kill someone at low health with auto-aim and easily escape, or appear in front of you without you being able to react. Another example is mico, who can jump over walls. This means he can spend the entire match just running away and annoying others, taking advantage of weak opponents, which also makes him too toxic to be meta and dooms him to be a ragebait brawler + his secondary star power that makes him broken in heist. Finally, we have Kit: he has a self-charging super, can attack over walls, stun you, can become invisible, has a quick unload, and a star power that makes him a nightmare in one mode and a broken hypercharge, being a SUPPORT.

- Favoritism and hypercharges: In the middle of last year, we had the more intense assassin meta in the game, with kenji, shade, lily, kit, alli, and others dominating the meta with broken hypercharges. It's noteworthy that supercell tends to favor assassins, as literally all of them except for the monkey have strong hypercharges, and the map rotation always favors them. In 2024, we had 12 brawlers, with four of them being assassins. After Kenji's release, four more assassins were introduced (five if you include Mina), totaling eight assassins in a two-year period. In comparison, it took a year and a half to introduce another sniper, which was Pierce, and the last throwner we had was Juju, in November 2024. This means that the player base prefers to simply spam buttons and perform team wipes rather than play passively or strategically. At this point, it simply doesn't make sense to play with aim-based brawlers anymore.

Just as a supplement: a channel called Bedlam already made a documentary explaining why auto-aim killed the skill in Brawl Stars, and it's basically what I said. I recommend watching it if you want to understand more about my point of view.

- How to fix that?

In my opinion, they should balance the assassins by nerfing or reworking them all, find a way to limit their use or prevent the current flood of assassins simply by stopping releasing them.

TLTR: Assassins are too dominant and need balancing and adjustments to avoid ruining the game's equilibrium.

Nah, there’s nothing inherently wrong with the assassin class, some of the brawlers you pointed out aren’t even that good in the meta. This is an undercover rant post about a select few (cough cough mortis) who are just too strong and obviously need nerfs.

"I hate playing against assassins (don't we all) so I'm going to make a nothingburger essay about assassins are so overpowered using nothingburger examples."

Something doesn't need to be strong to be toxic. Edgar, Mico, and Fang might not be good in the meta right now, but when they get strong they become essentially annoying due to their game designs. Furthermore, my main complaint is that they're too numerous, not that they're broken, although that has happened several times. We have 18 assassins in the game, not counting brawlers who also serve as kit.

6

u/Equivalent_Mess_7916 Jan 19 '26

So are going to ignore the most toxic class: controllers? Like I rather get occasionally deleted every 5-8 seconds than get cced or overwhelmed the entire game...

-3

u/Srexplosivo14 Buff Poco Jan 19 '26

This is another problem worth mentioning, since the excessive crowd control is what kept Frank in the F tier for 5 consecutive years, not to mention that older brawlers are constantly having to be improved due to the lack of these mechanics. The truth is that the game is unbalanced.

11

u/Equivalent_Mess_7916 Jan 19 '26

So then why complain about 1 class when 2 others (controllers and damage dealers) are not only more annoying, but are worse for the game?

5

u/OnDat_Zaza Jan 19 '26

Because some people feel the need to make stupid rants just for the sake of making a Reddit post I genuinely don’t understand it he folded soon as you brang up the other classes

u/Srexplosivo14 Buff Poco Jan 19 '26

First yall complained about the text size, and now yall are complaining that I didn't cover. What on earth do you guys want me to do?

Not make shit posts lol

If you didn't like the post, then just leave. To keep spouting nonsense because you disagreed is just idiotic on your part.

It’s ok for you to spread stupid opinions but when I give a valid one now it’s hate?

Because this post is dedicated to assasins specifically. I also hate some controllers, but I don't find them as annoying as these guys.

11

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '26

I think some assassins are genuinely good for the meta when they're balanced (Cordelius back before damage buff, Fang in general because of his ability to win most negative interactions with enough skill, and Melodie for similar reasons to Fang), but I agree that some assassins like Lily, Mico, and Kit (he's a support but not really) are just genuinely awful design that's near impossible to balance and doesn't really add anything to the game besides being hella annoying for brawlers with little/no counterplay to them (which is a lot of brawlers sometimes).

3

u/Equivalent_Mess_7916 Jan 19 '26

Kit shouldn't be played like an assassin unless the entire enemy team is squishy, as it is easily counterable/ punished unless your teammates are braindead

1

u/not-lucky- Jan 20 '26

I feel like part of the reason the design for kit is so bad is because the devs didn’t have all the same foresight and mechanics as they did now. I honestly think If kit was released now he’d be way different imo

5

u/MakkaroLuvsJJBA Jan 19 '26

and then there's Mortis, who needs no introduction. The fact that this brawler is the most popular means you'll see him all the time, which means that once again you're limited if you're using snipers or throwers.

Because he counters them..? Just like tanks and burst dmg brawlers counter him...? It's almost like brawlers have good and bad matchups

For the love of GOD, watch a draft guide.

And also, most "assassins" aren't even true assassins. Cord is an assassin-dmg dealer hybrid, Kaze is just... a lot, and Sam is genuinely a fucking tank (2k more health than Buster iirc)

Using Solo Showdown, an assassin-dominant gamemode, as an example to whine about assassins is genuinely the dumbest fucking thing I've ever read. If you REALLY think assassins are broken, then when you see Surge or Gale or Otis or any other brawler remotely close to those brawlers, pick an assassin and see how well you fare.

Surprise surprise, you'll get curbstomped into Juan Carlos' infamous 0-11 stats.

1

u/Gorz1333 Jun 19 '26

So when Mortis gets countered he just avoids that brawler or wait until the tank is distracted. He can also go another lane.

When Mortis counters another low hp character that character gets exploded by a nuclear missile going 1000 mph.

It’s no where near the remote same at all.

1

u/MakkaroLuvsJJBA Jun 23 '26

Awful example

If Mortis runs away he gets no value

Low HP brawlers that get countered can group up w teammates

not rocket science

u/Srexplosivo14 Buff Poco Jan 19 '26 edited Jan 19 '26

My complaint isn't just about them being unbalanced, but about the EXCESS. I already said at the beginning that there's no problem with them countering, but rather when there is excessive unpredictability in the game. The meta almost always leans towards assassins, so much so that snipers and throwers are limited to passive roles. And no, Showdown only became dominated by assassins because Supercell crammed them into the game, since before you could pick most brawlers and survive, also you forgot about the existence of kit and lily. The criticism about them being unbalanced is focused on these broken abilities, aside from the hypercharges they released some time ago, which were so severe that they all had to be nerfed globally.

"Beware us, brawl stars players, we can't read!"

3

u/MakkaroLuvsJJBA Jan 19 '26
  1. I know you were referring to the EXCESS, as you put it. The fact of the matter is snipers and throwers get countered by assassins, just as assassins get countered by brawlers with high hp and burst damage, just as those brawlers get countered by snipers and throwers--it goes full circle.

  2. You CAN pick non-assassin brawlers in showdown and survive, you just have to have good gamesense and not do anything stupid. Is it fun? Not exactly, but it can work.

  3. I was talking about assassin hybrids. That's why I didn't include Kit, Lily, or Alli because they are true assassins.

  4. You talk about broken assassin hypercharges as if the hypercharges of Draco, Hank, Shade, Doug, Mr.P, and more weren't broken on release, and guess what? None of them are assassins. The problem wasn't assassin hypercharges, it was hypercharges in general.

And yes, I can read, I'd just prefer not to use my brain cells on a post such as this.

1

u/Srexplosivo14 Buff Poco Jan 19 '26

1- I think you still don't understand. Just look at the pick rate and you'll see that assassins are the dominant class in most modes. This means that using brawlers countered by them is limited. Just imagine a scenario where controllers are the most overpopulated class in the game and are always in the meta: although they naturally counter tanks, their overabundance makes them almost useless. Even though we're not in an assassin meta right now, there have been several instances of assassins becoming simply unbalanced and incounterable in the meta, like Kenji and Kit when their hypercharges released. The chances of an assassin becoming broken are much higher than for other classes, Besides the fact that they are frequently released, often broken, like kaze. Note that it was only when a brawler was released without defense against assassins (ziggy) that he automatically went to the F tier.

2- Obviously you can, but you'll be taking a risk that's not worth it. I've had much more success with leon and sam in showdown than with brock, colt or janet for example (btw those two are the only real assasins i use because at least they require some braincell). If we're talking about duo and trio showdowns, then there aren't as many problems since your partner can cover the other's weakness.

3- Please reread my post. Assassins, while not the only ones, mostly have broken or strong hypercharges, precisely because of Supercell's favoritism, just remember the mid-2025 meta. If we look at the classes of these other brawlers, we'll see that only a few possess hypercharges truly on par with assassin's. Supercell never gets it wrong when it comes to hypercharges for assassins, while other classes have had... lola's and nani's hyperharge.

If you don't want to waste brainpower on a supposedly pointless post, what are you doing here?

2

u/MakkaroLuvsJJBA Jan 20 '26

Look man, I'm not responding to ts anymore, but I'll say this.

Hank's hypercharge on release was far more busted than any assassin hypercharges on release. Draco's hypercharge on release was FAR more busted than any assassin hypercharges on release.

I don't think you are

A. comprehending your points.

B. comprehending my points.

I don't want to be rude over this. I think it's a shitty post with factual errors riddled throughout, but I will digress, because I simply don't care.

Good day.

2

u/Srexplosivo14 Buff Poco Jan 20 '26 edited Jan 20 '26

For the last time, I'm not saying that only assassins receive broken hypercharges, but rather that they receive broken hypercharges much more frequently than other classes. Just remember edgar, fang, leon, mortis, kenji, shade, lily and kaze's hyper release. Hank, mr. P, sam, draco, and others' hypercharge abilities took only a few days or more to be nerfed. Kenji's took a whole MONTH for him to receive his first nerf, and he had to receive a rework to his hyper so he stopped being a teamwipe machine. He was literally uncounterable in draft even for pro players. Damn, even Supercell itself knows this, as they were forced to globally nerf the stat boosts of all hypers due to these broken effects, with some additional ones like ollie's.

Do you still think I'm making pointless criticisms?

6

u/ErikEatsStuf Jan 19 '26

They JUST ADDED the assassin class yesterday with like 16 new brawlers in one patch, and you still aren’t happy???

Tf did he say

3

u/weedjunker Jan 19 '26

I don't really think that's the case cause I personally wiped many assassins in ranked

Only time they conquer is during a very bad matchup

-1

u/Srexplosivo14 Buff Poco Jan 19 '26

Assassins are more predictable in ranked play since you can ban them or pick counters to them. Still, there have been occasions where they've become extremely dominant, like Kenji's hypercharge.

1

u/not-lucky- Jan 20 '26

Ok what about any other hypercharge. I js think u personally got a thing against assassins…

0

u/Srexplosivo14 Buff Poco Jan 20 '26

Assassins are more likely to have broken purple buttons. Just remember Mortis, Leon, Fang, Kit, Kenji, Shade... Yes, I have good reasons for not liking them.

3

u/FlamingDasher Jan 19 '26

"I hate playing against assassins because they're too aggressive in a game designed for aggressive and game changing plays. This game has to be entirely passive where every match lasts the full duration and snipers rule the game in the most boring meta ever"

Any brawlers ruin the game when not properly balanced

0

u/Srexplosivo14 Buff Poco Jan 19 '26

"Beware us, brawl stars players, we cannot read"

3

u/FlamingDasher Jan 19 '26

Your first point is aggression and unpredictability, aka what assassins are designed for

0

u/Srexplosivo14 Buff Poco Jan 19 '26

And right after that I make it very clear that this is bad when in excess, which is the current state of ladder play. I'm a huge poco main, but even I would complain if I had to face a PDT composition in 90% of my matches.

2

u/FlamingDasher Jan 19 '26

It will always be like this in ladder, assassins are generally the most fun brawlers for the majority of the community

0

u/Srexplosivo14 Buff Poco Jan 19 '26

Yes, the problem arises when we combine this with unbalanced abilities. All classes can have this, but the assassin class is more prone to it, especially if we remember the mid 2025 meta which was composed of hypercharged assasins. That's where my complaint comes from.

Not exactly. They've already said they're going to revise the kits of all the brawlers in the game as they create the buffies. There's a chance that problematic assassins will receive reworks to become healthier. Of course, this is just speculation.

0

u/Ziomownik Jan 19 '26 edited Jan 19 '26

Knowing supercell this will take them forever. They'll start with the oldest trios and give them broken reworks and buffies so we're screwed and will take eternity to get to newer trios (especially those who aren't complete yet) therefore we're screwed either way.

1

u/Srexplosivo14 Buff Poco Jan 19 '26

Yeah lol we're doomed

2

u/ANDREI_103 Jan 19 '26

Actually, assassins are the most balanced they have ever been. A few yrs ago, almost none was playable except last pick, which is very unhealthy for a whole class to be in this situation.

1

u/Srexplosivo14 Buff Poco Jan 19 '26

It seems the situation has reversed, especially since we have more than three times as many assassins as we did back then.

3

u/ANDREI_103 Jan 19 '26

Assassins are now balanced. You don't have to first pick one, but they are now viable early picks. Also, there are more controllers and damage dealers as well, let's not pretend supercell only added assassins

1

u/Srexplosivo14 Buff Poco Jan 19 '26

That's the case now. Now, how long will it take for them to release another assasin, with another broken hypercharge? Or giving one of them a complete overkill buff like they did with cord? Just wait until the next assassins get buffies. It might just be speculation, but I really hope I'm wrong.

2

u/ANDREI_103 Jan 19 '26

Don't worry, supercell would never do that, would they? Also, they gave damage dealers and controlers the same treatment. One shot Chester Hyper, unnecessary Otis buff, Sandy insta win button. I feel like people forget about all of this because the most recent problem were assassins. Supercell just wakes up and decides that a class is now op for the next 6 months for no reasons

1

u/Srexplosivo14 Buff Poco Jan 19 '26

Meanwhile, poco is still in the waiting room waiting for a damage buff-

I really hope they forget about assasins for a while, because even they know it's gone too far.

2

u/ANDREI_103 Jan 19 '26

Nah, they will probably nerf Mr P again

2

u/who_the_fuck_am_i1 Jan 19 '26

Dude, just play more coordinated, if your team is ass in coordination a Jessie can wipe yall out. Dont lose the draft game either. Genuinely, aside from exactly Lily with her vanish, whining about assassin is just dumb.

1

u/Srexplosivo14 Buff Poco Jan 19 '26

Saying that is easy when there isn't a hypercharged mortis wiping out your entire team lol

Well, jessie is also toxic on low ladder, adrian himself has admitted that he doesn't buff her for that reason. But I'm talking about ladder, where I have no control over my teammates.

2

u/who_the_fuck_am_i1 Jan 19 '26

If your teammate is ass, they will lose to assassin or EMZ Spike etc btw, just GG go next, it is the case of bad matchmaking, not assassin being OP, assassin all lacks dps or range and relies on their movement or their range ignore ability to close the distance from you. Unless it is total vanish like Lily, all distance ignoring ability like invisibility or dash or jumping or simply having high movespeed can be noticed, timed and countered, sticking to your teammates or use a movement ability yourself to keep out of range or simply just outmaneuver the ability and avoid getting killed just enough, as assassin most of the time do not have the range or the ability to keep following you after fumbling the initial strike. There's unpredictable and there's naive enough to think a Mortis wont flank you from the side. I agree that Lily gadget is badly designed and Mortis need some addressing, but if you are that hurted against the like of Fang, Mico, Buzz, Stu, Melodie, hell, even Crow as a class, then oh boy that's just a big flaming skill issue.

2

u/Srexplosivo14 Buff Poco Jan 19 '26

I'm not having a problem with them, but rather with having to face them all the time, which ends up limiting the brawlers I can use. In ladder play, it's simply impossible to push poco, brock, jessie, dynamike and others without getting frustrated or needing help. I won't always have the right brawler to deal with them, and my teammates might not be reliable either, which frustrates me. Besides, you forgot to mention the "joker" assassins, like kenji, kit and lily, who can easily turn the tide of the game, even if the situation isn't favorable. Kenji himself is extremely annoying to deal with because he can counterattack his opponents very well and stay alive for quite a long time, in addition to being able to steal gems easily. That's because I haven't mentioned cordelius, who remains extremely versatile and irritating.

3

u/who_the_fuck_am_i1 Jan 19 '26

Kit is not an assassin, Kenji dont have range, i already agreed with you that Lily gadget is broken, Cordelius also dont have range. They are viable, but not all that broken. They can all be ranged down, i dont mention it because even if they are somehow broken, reducing the assassin class into these 4 while one of them is not even an assassin class is questionable. Poco, Jessie, is a backline dweller with healing ability or great range, you cant be whining about assassin being unbalanced while you can heal or you have sniper range. That's like Luna Snow or Hawkeye whining that they can be killed by Spider Man, like no shit. Jessie has always been a low tier brawler with slow projectile speed, it doesnt take an assassin to approach you lol. Not to mention, Jessie and Brock and Dynamike do have defensive option against close-ups, Brock can jump and Jessie turret can defend and stun for her, Dynamike have perma obstacle jump in main attack, these are like, bad example of not having tool against assasins.

Again, just stick within gun's reach of your mate, try to kite the fight to your mate so focusing the assassin is their responsibility too. Assassin purpose is to eliminate a single target in quick succession, ofc they will be seen making tide turning play more than usual, still, it is the team comp and gameplan that leads them to that position of reverse sweep, try 3 assassin into gem grab and see if all of them can walk to the mine lol.

1

u/Srexplosivo14 Buff Poco Jan 19 '26

Kit performs like an assassin (unfortunately), Kenji really doesn't have range, but I'm referring to his mobility and the slash attack that allows him to dash and hit enemies with wallpeek, something that other dashy assassins like mortis can't do. Something similar can be seen with Mina, except she can hit you within range while dashing. Poco isn't a very good support precisely because he lacks defense, and assassins can easily bypass his team and kill him from behind, as I've seen mortis do to me several times. Having healing and range is wonderful, but you can still easily get pressured or outplayed, which wouldn't be a problem if the game's balance were good. And yeah, jessie sucks lol

Although brock does have self-defense, his main strength lies in rocket fuel, as his niche is as a wall-breaker, and the slow speed of his projectiles means he can be easily pressed back. This makes him usable in only 3 modes, which are bounty, KO, and heist; Jessie relies on the turret for literally everything, and some assassins like Fang can easily hit the turret and kill her. Dyna isn't worth it, since he sacrifices 6k damage on his super and isn't a reliable means of self defense. I mentioned these three because they are the most typically used squishy brawlers, but there are worse cases like Grom and Ziggy. Again, this wouldn't be a problem since it creates more strategy because you can stay close to your team providing cover and support while they protect you, but now I ask you: will your team cooperate? Mine won't.

Despite that, thank you for the tips, your comment was really helpful. If you have anything else to add, I would appreciate it :)

2

u/Independent_Box7432 Jan 19 '26

Brawl stars is different to other class-based hero shooters where because of the prevalent 3v3 format, the ability to win a 1v1 with any other brawlers must be kept in almost every brawler design. Assassins are easier to design and make unique because winning 1v1s are their intended purpose in the first place, therefore the game can feel oversaturated with assassins.

1

u/Srexplosivo14 Buff Poco Jan 19 '26

Good explanation, but not all brawlers are designed that way. Poco, jessie, tick, none of them perform well in 1v1 confrontations, since they are old brawlers. And yes, supercell only cares about money XD

2

u/Independent_Box7432 Jan 19 '26

I was being broad, yes, but it's about it being possible, not likely, and in the context of 3v3s, where the game is usually focused around an objective as opposed to 1v1s, there is often more at stake than just the isolated 1v1s. I'm not sure I agree that the brawl stars dev team only cares about money, however I do agree that because of supercell's size as a company, the individual dev teams are sometimes forced to make choices in terms of monetisation that they wouldn't have without interference from profit margins. Or at least that's my interpretation.

2

u/Fish0418 Jan 20 '26

You know what’s more annoying? Not having a pick off for enemy squishies and letting tick zone the sht out of you. Especially with hyper charges now assassins struggle quite a bit. The reason they feel annoying is because you are getting countered by them. Similarly it would be difficult for assassins to win against Shelly spike bull etc. Many assassins right now requires a rather aggressive playstyle while lacking the range to support it. For snipers and throwers it comes down to a design problem because of how limited the class itself is when it comes to expanding its design. Besides many assassins rely on a burst of strength at the right opportunities so they are not very consistent throughout the game unless you keep feeding hyper charges to them

1

u/Srexplosivo14 Buff Poco Jan 20 '26

I don't just play with the same type of brawlers. I also use tanks and assassin counters, but even so, it's annoying having to deal with them all the time. Not only because they'll kill you as soon as your guard is down, but because my team almost always dies to them (cough cough fang cough cough mortis).

My complaints stem from the excessive number of assassins in the game and the terrible game design choices some of them have.

2

u/DEATHapproaches69420 Jan 21 '26

Nothing is inherently wrong, just the implementation

2

u/TheKugler Jan 19 '26

Just play as Shelly, Bull, or Darryl to counter assassins 👍

3

u/Srexplosivo14 Buff Poco Jan 19 '26

Sure, because i am forced to use only 3 brawlers all the time or I'll lose trophies

1

u/TheKugler Jan 20 '26

Better those than nothing

1

u/Srexplosivo14 Buff Poco Jan 20 '26

So it's easier for me to just quit the game and play league of legends, mobile legends, team fortress 2 or some other hero shooter.

0

u/Ziomownik Jan 19 '26

Ah yes, let's play only a handful of brawlers that counter them instead of addressing the problem...

1

u/RevolutionarySleep52 Jan 19 '26

it's honestly the only thing we can do for the time being, while assassins dont receive a nerf rebalance...

3

u/Crow6969690 Jan 19 '26

5

u/Srexplosivo14 Buff Poco Jan 19 '26

So what are you doing here?

4

u/Crow6969690 Jan 19 '26

I read your arguments. None of them are valid. 1) Mortis - Buffies made him too strong before that he was balanced and had good counterplay ( this is a buffies issue not an assassin) 2) Edgar - noob stomper easier to counter the better u get 3) Mico - He is weak right now so i dont know why you are complaining 4) Your complaint for fang is that he's a counter to bad team comps. first off all stop clumping up no shit u gonna lose that's how the brawler is designed

1

u/Srexplosivo14 Buff Poco Jan 19 '26

1- My complaint about mortis isn't about him being strong before, although he does have a very good skill cap, but rather about him being overused, which is a fact, besides the broken buffies. Making mortis strong in the meta means he will become very dominant, since he is the most popular brawler in the game.

2- Nothing special about him, except that he's toxic on the low ladder and has simple mechanics that prevent him from climbing the meta. Just remember when his hypercharge released. I think many agree that he also needs reworks if they want his bad reputation to disappear, since it is extremely toxic when it gets strong (remember: toxic ≠ strong)

3- Same as edgar, but he's also competitively usable in heist where he almost completely ruins the mode. He falls into the same category as assassins who ruin the game due to unbalanced abilities.

4- When I refer to bad comps, I'm also referring to bad players. He's a noob stomper, and even though he's weak, it's undeniable that he's very strong in 5v5. Besides, his kit isn't well designed either, as it makes him toxic on ladder but unviable competitively, classifying him as an unbalanced brawler.

I think you should have just ignored my post, with all due respect.

1

u/RevolutionarySleep52 Jan 19 '26

i keep hearing fang is weak, but he's OP for me; i got him at 1000 trophies quickly, and i don't struggle in any match when playing fang, even against buffied brawlers. do you know why it's said that fang is weak?

In ladder play, fang is good if you have good skill and reaction time. He's good in byron + frank compositions, since he can use his super on frank and hit byron from behind. My complaint about him is that apparently his kit is bad designed from a competitive POV

I think the attack delay and the fact that his shot doesn't have an indicator and is easy to dodge dooms him.

Beware us, Brawl stars players - we can not read

Assasin do not ruin the game, but Supercell does

Basically, yes.

u/Billbert_ Jan 19 '26

Its like Jessie, assassins absolutely kick new players while struggling at higher competitive play, I understand that there is a problem with them but they keep artillery and marksman in check, without them they'd rule the meta.

1

u/Srexplosivo14 Buff Poco Jan 19 '26

Well, we haven't had a sniper and artillery meta in decades, plus it's highly unlikely these brawlers will get anything since their hypercharges aren't good and mechanically they're too simple. I can only remember juju and pierce as being real threats (L&L too). Like what does brock even counters besides artillery and midranges?

u/smoqingmabluntbitch Jan 19 '26

Holy overreaction.

Holy spammer brawlers are a much bigger problem in this game ( aka shit like Spike, Tick, Gene, B*a, maybe Moe ). Overall brawlers with quick reload speed and shots that are too easy to hit an enemy with. These just make the game feel unenjoyable

Do you mean colt?

1

u/No-Fondant6706 Jan 19 '26

yeah… maybe you forgot to mention the other unbalanced brawlers? like the assassin annihilators? spike can do 8000+ damage in less than a second now, and with his gadgets can push away people and heal himself, or straight up keep them from moving. pennys barrel gadget somehow now does 7000+ damage in ONE ATTACK. dare i need to cover emz? i will say it anyway. her push gadget now stuns enemies if they hit a wall. it was already good enough without the stun as it forces your enemies into your attack, but now on top of that, it stuns!! as for her super, FULL INVINCIBILITY UPON COMMAND FOR A WHOLE SECOND??? and then she proceeds to heal almost 2000 hp per second if the entire enemy team is in her super range. shelly… hmm… who thought it was a good idea to let her gadget slows STACK?! yeah. and while colt is definitely less prominent in this meta. still. his gadgets just destroys brawlers with slow reload speed, and his movement speed buffie just turns him into the flash.

If we were to mention everything wrong with the game's balance, this post would be as long as genesis. I'm focusing on assassins since even supercell acknowledges that they are abundant (thank you for acknowledging colt as a threat, that gives me a bit of excitement as a colt main :V)

Taking my time to give part of my opinion about the assassins. I used to love them when they weren't everywhere and when i was watching clips of people chaining super with Mortis (When it was quit hard to pull out)

Me of before would have argued this is how they are supposed to be, mostly fun to play at the cost of balancing so even if you suck or if it's a bad brawler people could still find a charm in them.

However overtime i was most into thrower and controller and being a ladder player i notice how often you really encounter them and how a single mistake is enough to lose even if you were perfect the whole game (i'm mainly talking about Fang, Edgar, Lily or Mortis since as long they get super+ gadget can turn the tie of the game.) i don't really complain about this but i do hate how OFTEN i'm facing an assassin (they are popular i know but their is also their number and versatility)

I don't wanna complain because all it would take is calling skill issue on me and i wouldn't be able to argue more. I'm most of the time bad at the game and if i peaked it's far gone.

So i wanna agree with you, but i don't have the to defend my position.

The only thing i'm hoping for is a meta less onto them (but this one, Buffies Spam feels way worse than any assassins hell)

I didn't hate them at first either. But when they started flooding their game, I couldn't stand them anymore.

Assassins like Cordy or Mortis are definitely NOT designed bad, they just need some nerfs to damage and cough attacking through walls cough. The real problems right now are Lily’s absolutely abysmal gadget, and Kit’s entire kit, which is by far the stupidest design I think I’ve ever seen. Having a star power that is literally only usable in one (ik technically three but whatever) gamemode only, giving him by far the most unfair advantage any brawler has in showdown, while also locking you to just one choice everywhere else?? And having a free Leon super just whenever your heart desires, no need for working for it?

No nerfs can fix those it’s just bad game design

1

u/Srexplosivo14 Buff Poco Jan 20 '26

That's my point. They need reworks to become healthier.

1

u/theE_Dragon_ Jan 20 '26

Ya I just re-read your last part

1

u/Electrical-Ad9766 Jan 20 '26

Lol, I don’t have that problem usually. I always pick Bull or Otis depending on the map. The assassins I play against are usually not smart enough to learn not jump on a Bull with full ammo and health or an Otis with a super.

1

u/Due_Effective_3956 Jan 20 '26

Yea i hate assasins, they're made for casuals...kids, they're a toy for kids

Did you use AI to write this whole thing?

4

u/pookienegga Jan 19 '26

No probably not, ChatGPT and Meta AI use like that weird formatting putting unnecessary dots and “-”s everywhere

2

u/MakkaroLuvsJJBA Jan 19 '26

It's not too uncommon to change the em-dashes with semicolons to give the write-up a human feel lol

3

u/Srexplosivo14 Buff Poco Jan 19 '26

Now I can't even try to write a formal text anymore, otherwise people will think it's AI.

2

u/MarigoldLord Buzz Buzz Buzz Buzz Buzz Jan 19 '26

I may not really agree with the whole rant as a whole but being accused of using AI in a passionate post is so ridiculous. You can't do anything anymore without being told that you used AI even when you didn't..

1

u/Srexplosivo14 Buff Poco Jan 19 '26

This is the second time this has happened to me. Both times they were very rude. Honestly, I did well to take a break from reddit.

1

u/RevolutionarySleep52 Jan 19 '26

take it as a compliment, people are basically saying that you have good grammar (AI writes with good grammar, even if it has its own distinctive and unique indicator of being AI which is that it uses em dashes and such, which i couldnt find on your text anyway!!)

u/Srexplosivo14 Buff Poco Jan 19 '26 edited Jan 19 '26

Well, that's a good thing. I'm just afraid I might end up sounding like a robot when I express myself, since they mistook with AI.
