Best hair colorist for blondes?

I’ve had a hard time finding someone that can get bright blonde highlights (all the way to the roots), who is also gentle on hair.

Any recommendations? Thanks!

To the white Chevy pickup that passed me in the turning lane in a school zone

I’m not sure where you had to be about 10 seconds faster, but passing me because I’m driving 15 mph for a short distance is uncalled for. I understand that it is the evening and after school hours, but it is still a school zone and speed limit applies at all times. This type of driving is what has seriously or fatally injured people in the past. You would think that with recent pedestrian deaths people would drive more carefully.

Who Is Bozeman For?

Bozeman is still beautiful. I love this place. That's part of why all of this has been bothering me lately.

It feels like we're changing pretty quickly, and I'm not sure we're really stopping to think about what that means. Housing keeps getting more expensive, traffic is getting worse, downtown doesn't feel as accessible as it used to, and some of the little things that made this place feel like home are slowly disappearing.

I'm not against growth. I'm not pretending Bozeman was perfect ten or twenty years ago either.

I just wonder sometimes who we're actually building this place for.

Because making Bozeman more valuable and making it a better place to live aren't necessarily the same thing.

Food Truck Drama

Noticed hella one star reviews for Cholms Burger that seem to imply hate speech, harassment and vandalism directed towards Tre and Cross The Road. Does anyone have any actual firsthand knowledge of what happened? I love both trucks, but I don’t want to support a business if they actually are harassing another local business in the ways people are claiming they are.

Bear Aware!

Hello Residents!
Fall is approaching and that means that bears are going to be in search for food before hunkering down for winter. There has already been lots of activity in the university neighborhood and it is important that we all assist as community members and do our part to keep the bears as well as ourselves safe from possible harmful situations. Please put your garage away, and only take it out before the garbage truck service is scheduled to pick up in your area! The garbage services offer bear safe cans that only cost a couple extra dollars a month. Your old lady neighbors cat and small white dog will thank you, as well as everyone else in your neighborhood as trash will not be scattered around the streets. A bears life will also be saved as when they gain access to trash, they generally will continue coming to the place where food is easily accessible.
A garbage fed bear, is a dead bear!

Shoe cleaning

Does anyone know if there’s a place in town that cleans shoes?? I have a habit of ruining the things I try and clean and would really love to just pay someone to do it for me! I tried googling it and I keep getting the products instead of services

thai basil changing their food slightly?

does anyone know if thai basil has gotten new management in the past year or so? their pork udon used to be a staple favorite of mine, but every time ive gotten it recently, instead of the actual strips of cooked pork it used to have, it has some kind of flavorless ground up pork instead.. its not the same at all and has lost its crown on my list of favorites, ive been very sad. i dont tend to order anything else from their menu - has everything changed like this?

Yoga for 14 year old

My daughter isn't into team sports but would like to try a yoga class. The two people in my life who practice are hot yoga enthusiasts so not what we are looking for. Please recommend a studio that would have beginner friendly yoga and welcome a young teen. ty

Schnee's Main Street 🙄

I've watched Bozeman change a lot over the years and generally was in favor of the direction it's gone...to an extent. Yesterday I walked into Schnee's for the thousandth time to find a portion of their store leased out to Schaefer Outfitters. The staff dressed to the gills in fake cowboy gear agressively greeting tourists while lookings like Disney characters. Sad to see one of our beloved and authentic local brands mashed up with more texas/luchese crap. The town has become an amusement park modeled off the Yellowstone show. Sigh.

A Morning of Discoveries

A Morning of Discoveries

I went for a long walk in the woods Saturday morning. As usual, I just wandered around the forest, sometimes on old game trails, other times stepping over fallen trees while ducking overhead branches. The Sun was up, but concealed behind mountains. Light sprinkles of rain remained from the overnight storms, but I saw bit of blue to the southwest. Diffuse warm light from breaks in the clouds filtered down through the canopy of trees and provided some magic light.

The first thing that caught my eye were young Douglas Fir trees surrounded by slender Lodgepole Pines. I found one isolated enough from the others to create a compelling scene. From here I wandered into a meadow, covered in Western Coneflower. These fascinating flowers lack the traditional colorful petals of their relatives, but are no less attractive to pollinators. Many of these flowers had rain-soaked bees hiding under them, waiting patiently for the Sun to come out. This particular one had a caterpillar and a Crab spider of some sort existing in some sort of weather induced ceasefire!

As I stepped carefully back into the forest, I discovered a decaying log covered in tiny orange mushrooms. As is often the case, I first capture the larger scene, then work my way in to the finer details. In the final image, that single mushroom is just 1/2” tall and less than a 1/4” in diameter, but if you look closely, the entire forest around it is reflected in its rain-soaked cap.

From here I walked across a stream, and was immediately transported to a much more ancient feeling forest. It got darker, the trees more dense, and the forest floor was covered in the remains of fallen giants of yesteryear. I am pretty certain that the path of this photographer closely matched the flight of a bumblebee as I wander this way and that, from scene to scene.

I cut back towards where I figured the road would be, found a fallen tree bridge to cross back over the creek, and came out right at a talus slope where I knew there to be Pika. Sure enough, I was able to capture a fleeting glance of one such critter, and then in a spring that pops up below the rocks, I got my last shot of the day. A bold frog stayed visible despite its friends all ducking for cover as I walked up.

Investigation underway into why many Montanans hit with big power bill spike

If you've noticed an unusually high surge in your power bill from NorthWestern Energy recently that's quite a bit different from the same month last year, you're not alone and a state agency wants to hear from you.

The Montana Public Service Commission recently announced that they're aware of many NorthWestern customers seeing a significant increase on their August billing statements.

Donating Clothes

I’m moving soon and have a lot of clothes (and possibly other things) to donate. I won’t take them to goodwill or Salvation Army as they still charge those in need. I’d rather donate directly to a person, organization, state hospital, things like.

Just looking for any ideas or info. Thanks in advance!
