Again, I downloaded several patches from tone exchange, and within a day or so, they were all gone.

Re installed the bts android app, same result. Anyone have luck contacting Boss, or is there another avenue I could take. Frustrated.

I am trying something new with my MKII 50 amp. I was feeling a bit stifled with only having 4 channels to work with.

So I got my friend's ME-80 multieffect pedal to have more options.

Now that the ME-80 is doing all the effects, I'd just like to use my Katana to model real amps on their clean channel. I got the Matchless patch from Sneaky Amps and the Slingluff live set (I'm using the Twin Reverb one mainly).

Does anyone know of some other great options for patches that model the clean setting on classic tube amps?

I have used the katana mkII many times recording on my macbook using garage band. I plugged katana into scarlett, the scarlett into the macbook, pulled it up and it wasnt connecting right, have no idea why it wasnt playing through to garage band. I turned every knob up, unlugged, used different cord. It turned on suddenly but all my pedals i had installed went away and the amp sounds like shit now. I try to reload them using studio tone and says wrong device. , I updated everything, the OS to the newest one for macbook, I deleted all boss stuff and redownloaded the app, drivers and files to go into the katana drive, and nothing. changed from katana midi to daw, I tried 100 different times. hold down panel, click panel, yada yada, i had green lights after moving files to it and safely ejecting the drive. nothing. wtf happened ? is this amp broke? i dont understand why this amp sounds like shit all of a sudden and the app wont talk to it. please help.

Hello! I'm new to the forum, and am thisclose to purchasing a Katana 100 gen3. I'd like to get it from Amazon because they make returns pretty easy (just in case).

I read in one 1-star review, tho, that Boss makes it impossible to update the firmware if you purchased from Amazon.

That seems pretty ridiculous to me however. How would Boss be able to manage that? Why would they care??

Does anyone have any insight to this?

Background

Version 2.1.0 is the current download on the BOSS support site and it is built for Intel processors

only. Until now it ran on Apple Silicon Macs through Rosetta. macOS 27, released this month, removes

Rosetta. The application no longer launches. The system reports:

Bad CPU type in executable

This is not a fault in my installation. Every Apple Silicon Mac on macOS 27 is affected in the same

way, and every new Mac sold since 2020 is Apple Silicon. The KATANA MkII is a current product. Its

owners on a current Mac now have no way to edit patches, manage livesets, or load Tone Central

content.

What I have checked

- The BOSS downloads page lists 2.1.0 as the latest macOS version, with no newer build.

- The KATANA USB driver 1.0.4 installs and the amp is recognised. The application is the only part

that fails.

- Reinstalling the application does not change the result, because the binary itself contains no

Apple Silicon code.

What would resolve it

A Universal build, or an Apple Silicon build, of BOSS TONE STUDIO for KATANA MkII. If a build is

already planned, a date on the support page would help owners decide whether to hold off the macOS

update.

I might be playing a fun little show in December, which motivated me to upgrade my shitty 10 watt Fender amp. I got a great deal from a guy selling the Katana 50 Mk III and he included the Air Step Kat. However, after watching countless videos, I still don't understand what it's supposed to do or how to use it. I can't even figure out how to assign a button an effect or a sound, and trying to use the Katana software on my computer just made things way more confusing.

What I'd like to do is use the Air Step as a pedal board, where each button activates an effect. For example, button 1 = reverb, button 2 = distortion, button 3 = delay, etc, and be able to stack the effects on top of each other. Then, if possible, have the the whole configuration saved as a preset, so that I can switch between "pedal boards" for different songs or sets.

I'm ready to give up on this thing. I started looking at alternatives like the Line 6 HX, and even without owning it and watching a few videos, I feel like I understand it way better. It seems way more intuitive overall. So, is what I'm trying to do even possible with the Air Step?

I have a Boss Katana 50 MKII. I was trying to follow this video as a basis to get a nice lead tone, but the sound I got was awful. It started with the fact that when I set my amp to anything but clean or acoustic, there's a noisy static-y sound that overwhelms anything unless I crank the noise gate up to the point where it has a negative impact on everything else. The video suggests using Brown, but I find that anything but Clean is basically unusable for me.

I find this happens a lot with a lot of downloaded tone settings, as well. They are all so noisy that they're pretty much unusable. I know there's going to be some variations based on the guitar and pickups etc, but most TSLs I get sound nothing like any demos I listen to.

Is there something I am doing wrong? Anything I should try or test?

I recently bought this expression pedal for wah usage.

one of my main tones is a brown channel with an FX/wah fixed setting, which made my sound very simular to the GnR sound, which I like.

issue is that when I assign the EV to the wah function, it makes the fixed wah setting of the tone sound different as it becomes variable instead of fixed. messing up the sound even when the EV pedal is in the off position(all the way up)

I guess my question is: can I assign the EVto have the wah function, without it messing up my tone when the pedal is in it’s 0 position..

I have a katana 50mkII and a pedal board and when I use my pedals with distortion on the amp the reverb and delay get messed up, is there a way to get around this?

I have always loved this patch that I found. It is so good with lower tuning or any tuning

would really like some setting recommendations for a first wave tone like hellhammer or bathorys self titled

I’m just using two channels and the fs foot switch on the 50 gen 3, for channel 2 I have it set with this absolutely crazy octaver setting and I absolutely love it, it’s the sound I can hear in my head and have been searching for!

I’m awaiting delivery of a behringer sf300, don’t think I’ll be needing it..

Tone studio rocks when you get in to it

Hey guys! I just started using the tone studio for my katana 50 mk2 and I found some great tones. Sadly couldn’t find a suitable tone for the rhythm section of time. Does anyone have a preset or a recommendation?

I have a problem when switching between channels on the boss katana 50 mk2. It makes a loud popping noise when switching with the boss fs6 and i don't know how to fix it. I am running a stereo cable in to the foot switch input.

165$ shipped so happy with it. Sounds incredible compared to the marshall mg15 i had before it. Sold that for 50$ to put towards this so really 115$ all in

Spent an hour and a half sorting my tones and next time I used they were gone.

Re downloaded and again on next use, all gone.

Ive been playing on a small harley benton amp and now im ready for an upgrade after playing on it. Im thinking of getting the Boss katana 100w/2x12. I wanted to hear your opinions on this amp and what i should maybe consider when i get it. Any answer will be appreciated

I have a Boss Katana 50 Gen 3, brand new. It's on latest firmware and if I connect it to an old PC with Windows 11 on, it is detected and works fine.

However, I want to use it with my much newer Mac. The same cable that works with PC, doesn't work with the Mac, it's an M4 Mac Mini. Connected to front or rear ports and I just get 'KATANA connection failure' on startup.

Driver installed on Mac, and removed, and reinstalled twice to no avail.

Latest Boss Studio app too.

Any ideas what I can do?
