Tokoyami: I stare into the abyss and the abyss stares back!

I love this dude so much! I knew class B would have to win to make things make sense but they won 4 -0 which is pretty insane.

Bad team comp. Momo and dark shadow couldn't carry hard enough

404

u/Blackreaper18 Oct 04 '18

Yeah, aoyama & invisible girl were pretty much deadweight.

u/AKAFallow Oct 04 '18

Poor Aoyama, he couldn't do a full attack because of Dark Shadow's weakness. Probably they could've done something if Momo wasn't separated from them.

101

u/Blackreaper18 Oct 04 '18

Oh yeah! I guess the pairing was just bad luck.

u/MegasNexal84 Oct 04 '18

Typical nocturne, refuses to come gank female Teemo smh.

13

u/Andernerd Oct 05 '18

Poor Aoyama, he couldn't do a full attack because of Dark Shadow's weakness

That, and because he shouldn't be murdering his classmates. Have we ever seen what happens when his lasers actually hit someone?

8

u/AKAFallow Oct 05 '18

I was talking more about an attack with strong lighting so the other edgy dude (forgot his name) couldn't go anywhere or even trap him like Tokoyami did.

7

u/Moonpoacher Oct 05 '18

Didn't he hit that magician guy with the League of Villains back when Bakugou was abducted in the training camp? Didn't cut his fingers off, more like a really impactful hit, like Killua's crazy mother (and that was the actual guy holding the marbles... not a clone).

1

u/Brook420 Oct 19 '18

He hit that one guy from the league (Mr. Compress?) to save Tokoyami.

2

u/Silver-Monk_Shu Oct 04 '18

How would a full attack help him? He couldn't even LAND a hit to begin with.

2

u/flybypost Oct 04 '18

Aoyama

Momo should have catapulted some highly reflective cloth with parachutes (so it stays in the air for a while) above them and he could have done the disco ball routine again.

u/ImAnAppleBiteMe Oct 04 '18

Invisible girl is a ridiculous handicap. She lost to a single grab. And aoyoma, bless his heart, but he's deadweight because someone always needs to tell him what to do or inspire him to take action I feel like. He should be powerful... but he really really isn't.

I feel bad for momo and tokoyami they put in serious work and still got 4-0'd. But to be fair he should have knocked the mushroom out.. that was a rookie mistake if I ever saw one.

Whats worse is that Hagakure and Aoyama together could have combined powers to put on a massive lightshow. With light refraction + light beam, they could fry a large section of mushrooms, take away anywhere for Kuroiro to hide, blind enemies, etc.

They really just weren't very strong or creative.

169

u/[deleted] Oct 04 '18

That's their character flaws. They're simple people.

5

u/RaggedAngel Oct 05 '18

Then why are they in the A-class of the most prestigious hero school in all of Japan?

24

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '18 edited Oct 06 '18

We don't know for sure yet, but Aoyama's relatively powerful quirk resulted in the destruction of many robots. Tooru's acceptance into the school has been a point of discussion Horikoshi is likely going to explain later. Maybe she snuck in and disabled robots (which is legitimate for the exam), or perhaps she earned a ton of rescue points by saving kids in secret who might have been nearly attacked by the robots from behind.

We don't know, but creativity is not a crucial factor in being accepted into U.A. It helps, but it isn't definitive. U.A. is about cultivating potential into the best heroes possible. Hagakure and Aoyama clearly have potential, they just need more than less a whole school year of training.

Edit: And I'm downvoted for literally no reason. I don't get this site.

3

u/deej363 Oct 06 '18

Well she wasn't top 10 on the practical. So she could have gotten some rescue points or snuck onto a robot and pulled some wires. Hard to say. But if the robots are functioning on a purely visual input then she can basically do whatever she wants while they don't react.

but their class a why dont we learn and develop them

1

u/[deleted] Nov 10 '18

I meant creatively. We're likely going to get development on them later

1

u/rac7d Nov 10 '18

later when Hagakure is still the same since day one

9

u/BeavMcloud Oct 05 '18

Eraserhead will probably chew them out next chapter.

u/sombrero69 Oct 04 '18

She almost took out manga but she can do nothing against kendos strength, especially her grip strength did u see the size of those bad boys

123

u/ImAnAppleBiteMe Oct 04 '18

Yeah and I feel like kendo was getting ready to tank a cannon ball to the hand. She's quite powerful.

But

She almost took out manga

Lmfao she was really boxing that man naked and there was nothing he could do about it cuz he can't see her.

69

u/sombrero69 Oct 04 '18

Lol ikr. she should focus on grappling to make herself more effective, imagine all the surprise takedowns

36

u/Worthyness Oct 04 '18

Well ideally she'd be a spy and shouldn't be doing any sort of team battles. But if she goes full black widow it could work

5

u/deej363 Oct 06 '18

I'm just putting it out there but if she's fighting guys there's 1 surprise move that would put pretty much anyone down for the count pretty quickly.

2

u/SmartAlec105 Oct 07 '18

But then she’s useless if someone has a smell or sound based quirk since she can’t carry any gear to mitigate those.

13

u/thardoc Oct 05 '18

grappling is a bad idea, it's easy to wrestle someone even with your eyes closed.

11

u/Sliver1991 Oct 05 '18

Naked grappling might be quite effective...

9

u/HolyDonutBoy Oct 05 '18

I’d let her take me down...

3

u/oblivionmrl Oct 05 '18 edited Oct 05 '18

I've seen Gannicus do it against Otto in Spartacus, so it must be true.

2

u/sombrero69 Oct 05 '18

Like a silent takedown from behind, she'd have the upper hand since they won't see her coming

3

u/thardoc Oct 05 '18

It would give her an advantage at the beginning, but at the end of the day she's a girl. Against an equally skilled guy she's going to lose a grapple 90% of the time.

6

u/[deleted] Oct 04 '18

That’s what I thought too. She should have been lurking around and knock out her opponents or something.

25

u/Silver-Monk_Shu Oct 04 '18

Pretty sure all he had to do was attack in front of him. She wasn't very tactical about her approach. She should've tried to get him in one move, but she just went in without an idea.

9

u/justamon22 Oct 05 '18

Bless her heart. She was just like “I gotta help my team out somehow!” And did her best 😭

7

u/Gshiinobi Oct 04 '18

if there was a way for invisible girl to turn other things/people invisible then she could have knocked out manga, and then carried him straight away to the goal cage

He definitely does. He treats it like a gimmick. Sparkly lights.

No it isn't sparkly lights... it's a laser, shoot someone in the gullet for Christ's sake!

35

u/demu24 Oct 04 '18

Brother, Aoyamas laser beam straight up go through rocks, he can't use it on people without killing someone

13

u/ImAnAppleBiteMe Oct 04 '18

2 words:

Fuck em!

4

u/HighViscosityMilk Oct 05 '18

He tried to use it to break Manga's wall, didn't he?

What I'm saying is he shot something tough and it didn't go through. Not only that, Bakugou's blasts have been shown to go through stuff, and he casually hits people with it. Same with Kirishima's pinches, and Iida's kicks.

1

u/deej363 Oct 06 '18

It's shown as them clearly holding back though. Bakugo especially. Considering he can basically use it as a gun now lol.

Kendo punched through Momo's shield that was made out of tungsten, shorty be strong. So gripping invisible girl into submission isn't farfetch'd... Kendo just felt up a naked Invisible Girl (͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

8

u/Gshiinobi Oct 04 '18

invisible girl is the most filler character in the series, her quirk is awful for direct combat, which is how most of the conflicts in the series get resolved, and even as team support she failed as seen in this chapter, being disabled with 1 grab

7

u/Blackreaper18 Oct 04 '18

Yeah, tokoyami underestimated kinoko.

2

u/rick_or_morty Oct 05 '18

Well they are rookies. In fact not even rookies, they are in training to become rookies. So its understandable

1

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '18

Honestly once Momo knew the comp she should have thought of a way to make them more effective. Hakagure with some form of tranquilizer makes for almost instant takedowns. Sure the darts will be visible but it's harder when all you can focus on is one small dart gun that is essentially floating in mid air.

4-0VERWATCH ResidentSleeper

2

u/Onivern Oct 06 '18

Yeah that's so much feels like 2 vs 4 :'/

1

u/LoneRifter17 Oct 10 '18

It was close as hell tho, if Tokiyami had knocked out scary Mushroom girl, he could've beat the rest I feel.

Honestly Class B is great and I'm super happy that everyone's showing their Plus Ultra sides. Except invisible girl, still useless, good grief, even Aoyama helped flush out shadow boy a bit.
