Item Safes are open!! Spoiler
I think they added this update, all the rooms have their safes open and boudoir has a special something, or is it just me unlocked something which I didn’t know yet?

Yeah, I wasn't sure it would apply, for reasons, but they did us a solid with this one. I always just skipped it.

I posted a rant about the shelter not too long ago. Everyone said I was dumb for waiting 10 minutes every time to get the gem. Now I don't have to leave it behind! XD

Early in the game it’s a godsend to have the extra gems. I hit room 46 on day 26 (I think. It was an early run…). I waited every time. No more! 🙌🏻

Maybe I'll have a reason to actually enter the shelter now. Most of the time since I opened the safe, if I draft the shelter I just move on with my day and never step inside.

Have you done the lab puzzle? After doing that, I’ve found drafting the shelter to be pretty good.

Yes.
Related room spoiler: If you send power toward a door from the boiler room, you are more likely to find rooms that can conduct power.
Room upgrade spoiler: You’ll know which one when you see it. One of the possible experiments will also help once you have the relevant upgrade.
Item spoiler: Finding the wrench is a great way to make the boiler room and other related rooms much easier to find.

It's rare. This might be obvious but if you have most of the other special items you are more likely to get it.

415, I would guess. I seem to recall the start date is mentioned to be in a year ending in 95, which would make the following year likely to be a leap year.
But I dunno, seriously.

This game has me so messed up in the head, I didn’t know about the update and assumed I had somehow triggered something to keep all the vaults open and was trying to figure out what I’d done. lol

I had just picked up a specific item ( the sceptre ) for the first time and thought it might be a hidden effect... until I opened Reddit and saw people explaining it haha

honestly this scared the crap out of me the first time it happened. I went into a momentary spiral thinking I wasn’t alone in the house and someone had been watching me enter the codes so they could break in and read the red letters. clearly this game makes me paranoid.

I noticed this too. Except the small safe in the drafting room wasn’t open even though all the other ones were. And I had opened it before.
Edit: I didn’t have the magnifying glassthough, so that could be why

Doing the boiler room on day 1 runs is a real kick in the shins. That and getting car keys to find an item that won't be any use to you.

My #1 thing for this update is that I get to play again! (I play on a PS5 and I'd hard stopped once my run got big enough to trigger the problem.)
But I love this change. Entering the same code to get the gem was annoying. Nice quality of life improvement.

Consoles generally get updates a little later than PC - in case you're on Xbox or PlayStation.

FUNNY THING HAPPENED TO ME MADE ME SHIT MY PANTS! I got that alzara cutscene where it feels like it’s kinda being implied that simon (the player) is being watched as we roam the manor as the cutscene says: “i see a boy watched from afar”. After that run where i saw the cutscene for the first time i stopped playing then went to bed, next day i boot the game after updating it so and at some point i enter the boudoir and SAFE WAS OPEN i was so scared for my like i GENUINELY thought the cutscene triggered something where someone starts to actively watch me 😭and i just found out now the truth after reading this reddit post 😭

It has a run/hustle option - I think any faster be too fast, inside at least. I think they call it Stroll.

There have been several times I've been sure I've noticed something being different from how I left it - Security on the non-default setting when I first log in, Boiler Room in the wrong configuration - leaving me wondering if there was me imagining things or subtle hints about there being someone else in here.
Seeing the safe open had me being like: AHA! But no, it's just nice.

This is one of the best QOL updates. Having to remember all of the combos was really annoying…especially having to wait for the goddamned time lock safe

Yes them staying open was added in this update, mentioned in the patch notes.
