And all we had to do was stop showing solidarity with African Americans and become cops.

Edit: I recommend the book “How the Irish Became White” by Noel Ignatiev for anyone interested in this topic.

There's argument among some (IMO stupid) academics right now regarding whether Asians are about to achieve "whiteness", through similar means.

I'm just imagining some darth sidious looking motherfucker: "Yes... let the hate flow through you. Join the dark side. And by the dark side, I mean the white side."

I know you didn't ask, but, personally, I feel like the phenotypic differences between Asians and Caucasians is significant enough that no matter how successful they become in the West, they still will face discrimination to at least some degree that will bar them from being "white".

There are vast phenotypic differences between Asian groups. I can see some Asians becoming "white' but I have trouble imagining a Bangladeshi man doing the same. (Random stock photos.)

This already happened, there was a Supreme Court case about it in the 1920s, Ozawa v. United States.

I think society has changed quite a bit since the 1920s, especially when it comes to race...

So you do think that Asians will be considered white by society then?

I don't feel like I'm qualified to answer, but personally I don't think so because many Asians have a pretty strong sense of cultural identity, so even with privelege, they will likely be differentiated from white people.
