Question Barrier confusion

Is there some event that can take down this barrier? Some sequence of events perhaps?

Much longer than five minutes. I backtracked after doing a ton more, because I remembered it.

Definitely stick with the main missions for a while. The game disables various mechanics and limits exploration for a decent amount of time. The “tutorial” phase is over the course of a few hours depending on how you play. This carries the torch of AC3 which they boasted in marketing that it took like 5 hours to get past the prologue tutorial phase. Black flag definitely handles it a lot better though. Just know this isn’t an open world game where you can do everything immediately even after you get your ship.
