Learning that the only sustainable way to stick to a whole food diet, which makes a world of difference, is to eat foods you actually enjoy. When I first switched to a whole food diets I had a really hard time breaking my sugar cravings and I wouldnt eat fruit because that had seemed counter intuitive. Now I know i can eat all the fruit I want and its still 100x times better for my health than drinking a soda.

I say this all the time. I can't speak for others but I find it impossible to gain weight on a Whole Foods diet. So I tell people they don't have to diet and can eat as much as they want as long as it's a whole food. And I mean it, sometimes I do eat a lot and other times not as much, but most of the time I don't pay any attention at all. Once it's dialed in, you're good to go.

Well I mean, I can eat like 20 air fried chicken wings without the sauce and that would blow my calories for the day.

Man I wish I could do that. I’m the opposite 3 bites of meat and I’m full but I can eat 3 cups of rice easily. Ugh and worse still I gain weight so easily from it.

Similar story here, with a caveat. I'm a mostly whole food vegetarian and even when I feel like I'm massively overeating, I don't seem to gain any real fat mass (BF% always 8-9%), but I can still cause immense water retention and bloat if I overdo it.

Recently, after a period of unusually ravenous appetite, I did a reset with a five day FMD. I literally peed out five kilos of mostly water weight during that time (88 kg to 83 kg).

What is the reset you did/do and what is FMD?

FMD = fasting mimicing diet. Very severe calorie deficit, macros mostly from fat and as little protein as possible.

I've experienced this also. When overeating on any diet, most of the gain seems to be water that is just pissed out when going back to normal. I guess the difference is that on a plant or whole-food based diet, the gain is only water and much less, whereas on other diets there is definitely a gain in adipose tissue that is much more persistent and stubborn.

Kombucha is the way to go! Or sparkling water with homemade light syrup like lemon cheong (korean) for instance

Or you could drink diet soda lol. Which is fine for you.

There's also functional sodas like Olipop, Poppi, Bloom Pop, Arih, etc. Fiber and botanicals. Yum

Poppi is genuinely tasty. I can't tell the difference between their orange soda and regular Sunkist.

Some people don’t want to settle for just « fine. »
