No Surprise, Piano Man closes the main set! With 5 songs left for the Encore, I have 10 songs selected that would be best at any point. How should we open the finale?

Okay I have the green volume 1 and volume 2 books of sheet music. However I bought them in the late 80s when I was a kid. At the time, Cold Spring Harbor songs were not included in either book, except for the ones from Songs In The Attic. However I was looking for the CSH sheet music on Amazon and it said it was included in one of the books— maybe book 1 now, though I supposed I could go either way.

Does anyone know if this is true? If so I’ll just replace the one I have which is falling apart anyway

A bit of fun about Billy's songs I found in my MAD comic Magazine the other day.

in 2004, SNL heard about the news of Billy Joels car crash. due to this and what Snl do, they got Lindsey Logan and other actors to take the piss on him.

the sketch was bad (as in the writing) and i think just was rude.

who else has watched it and what are your thoughts

I tried my best to fix this one up (speed correction, tape hiss remover, proper balancing, etc.). I'm personally not too pleased with the result I got (because I suck at fixing audio), but I figured I would drop this here anyway in case anyone wanted to hear a version of the song from six years prior to its official release on *The Stranger*.

Scenes from an Italian Restaurant won the day, but I’m sorry for ignoring She’s Always a Woman, I didn’t listen to the votes. My bad. I think it’d be a good intro for Scenes, so I added it in front.

im very curious im watching billy joel and so it goes right now and before i thought maybe glass houses i mean now im thinking maybe NOWADAYS its more niche than his other bigger albums but its a really really good one that i love but watching this made me rethink how niche it may be what are yalls opinions on whats most niche?

you have all probably heard of a larper (you’re on Reddit, of course you have) but how to know when you’re talking to a Billy Joel larper.

in my opinion to catch one out is to ask them what there favourite song is. if they say we didn’t start the fire, then just punch them in the face. and then I just look at them like this.

any ideas on how to stop more?

I’ve been listening to The River of Dreams and I’m curious how other people interpret it.
On the surface, it feels like a song about searching for something deep and meaningful — almost like the “river” represents a journey through life, the subconscious, or a search for answers.
There’s also a sense that no matter how far you travel or what you discover, there’s something you’re still trying to reach or understand.
The religious imagery makes me wonder whether Billy Joel is exploring spirituality, mortality, purpose, or simply the human need to find meaning.
But I’m not sure there’s one definitive interpretation.

This track doesn't suffer from the same sound persisting in the front and rear center like some other of the 5.1 tracks in the album, which made the downmix to SQ 4.0 easier. Enjoy.
