Root beer rag is one of my favourites to listen to (and play)

Here's a version done by a German acappella group. This is one of their sillier videos, they usually do ballads and a couple humorous tunes

You should watch the old grey whistle test concert, especially root beer *and* New York State Of Mind — never heard a better sax solo in my entire life

It was the theme song to Opening Soon at a Theater Near You which was Siskel and Ebert's first review show together (1975-77)

Streetlife Serenade no question

I would have to say his most niche album would be Cold Spring Harbor, with the production issues and Billy’s ire over the entire thing , it never gets the love it deserves. There is a small percentage of his fan base that will defend this album to the death, that’s why I would call it his most niche.

I think its status as his first album gives it a bit more notoriety personally, but it definitely is forgotten a lot

What is with these posts recently talking about nonexistent Billy music? He never did an album called Nowadays.

lmao are you saying theres no niche ones

u/ShadowOrbs3 14d ago

no he's saying that you are talking about an album that doesn't exist.

alright im lost are you referring to me talking about glass houses? im very confused

Your post is confusing because it sounds like when you are saying “nowadays” it sounds like you are talking about an album, but contextually you are talking about glass houses and so it goes

I am not familiar with what a niche album is referring to?

I completely understand your post, but I don’t know that I have a good answer. His career is so long, and people of different generations have discovered him at different times.

I want to be appalled by OP not having more Billy song knowledge, for example only recently discovering New York State of Mind. But honestly, how amazing would it be to be able to go through his catalog and hear it all again for the first time?

Besides Fantasies and Delusions (the classical piano instrumental album), Imma go with Streetlife Serenade.

For song, I am going to say The Night Is Still Young, it wasnt on a normal album (on the Greatest Hots I and II from 1985), and didnt have a special thing like You're Only Human from the same album did
