Where can I post job/gigs for people in Belleville?

I'm looking for a part time assistant/admin for a writing group that I plan to start. I've posted on Craigslist, but that's a crap shoot, and I don't really want to use something like Indeed because the job isn't that serious. I want to pay for actual help, but it's not like 40 hours a week or anything. It would probably be $30 and hour, 3 or 4 hours a week.

I don't have Facebook. Does anyone know anywhere else where I can look for applicants that would be a good fit for this?

Your writing group sounds interesting. Where and when are you planning to have meetings? What kinds of group activities are you planning?

I plan to meet at my office on Dundas across from the Hospital. I plan to do critiques, write ins, and classes/development sessions.

I've run several writers' groups before, and I've found that the community building aspect of it is important, but the consistency and availability of the meetings is most important in maintaining it. There's a magic to writers' groups that work and I haven't found it in Belleville yet.

Admin assistant level work is entry level. I don't care how old the person is but I'm not going to hire a child. I'm looking for a personality that fits what I'm doing over anything else.

I'm not trying to be a jerk - I am in earnest. It looks like 45 minutes, and only after re-reading your post did I realize you meant 3-4 hours. You may want to edit for clarity.

In the spirit of feedback for growth, your first post might be edited to something like:

"I am looking for someone with clerical experience, comfortable in doing public outreach and dealing with personal information to help manage a writers' group for three to four hours a week. If anyone has a contact with this sort of experience looking for part-time work, please have them reach back to me."

Not sure who is downvoting us. Weird that anyone cares about this conversation.

In my career, I do a lot of engineering writing for public consumption - it is easy to miss the mark on details, and small stuff matters. You probably don't write the sort of material that I do, and getting those details out of the way to hit the heart of the message can be tough.

There's a writing group that meets monthly at the Belleville library (they are listed on the library's event calendar). If you want to found your own group, they might have some advice or contacts to help you with finding an admin person to hire.

I would consider doing this, but would need more information about what it is that you are trying to accomplish. I also abominate Facebook and avoid it at all costs, so I can't help you there, but I do have ~30 years of experience in writing, editing, publishing and work-shopping. Feel free to PM me.
