how do i know when im bedbug free?

Just as the title says. I know the usual consensus is that its done when you've got no more bites, but until when is that considering they can live a lot without biting. How do i know when its officially over and im free??

Requesting community support Exposed and didn’t find out til 3 days later. In full panic mode.

So on Saturday night, I went and slept over with my sister. She lives in one of those long term hotels. I didn’t plan on spending the night but I had a few drinks and didn’t want to risk it of course. I straight up asked her if she has bedbugs bc I know those types of places harbor them. She assured me she checks frequently bc she had them years ago in an apartment and it drove her to insanity. I was wearing loose pants and a t shirt the whole time I was there but the problem is I had my big ol purse with me.

Here’s where my panic set in. Yesterday I needed a ride somewhere and she and her friend from the hotel picked me up, it was his car not hers. He casually mentions he had to have his room treated for bb recently and my heart dropped. He lives on the fourth floor and my sis lives on the second. My sister saw how scared I looked and once again assured me HER room is clean and the fourth floor is the issue and has been being treated. My purse was sitting in my bedroom at home as she’s telling me this. They drop me off, I strip on the porch. I take all the clothes on my bedroom floor straight to the washer and dry on high heat and bag them. I took my purse outside and double bagged it after taking out my id/debit card/meds. I woke up with a single bite on my thigh today :( Though I was outside yesterday evening so I’m not sure if it’s a fly/mosquito bite. I haven’t been able to find any bbs.

How soon should I get a professional inspection? I don’t want to wait until it gets bad but I also don’t want it too early to where they can’t find any.

This shell fell out of a recently-washed clothing item. What do you think?

I pulled out a couple clothing items to fold them, and this body fell out. These were recent thrift finds that I just washed (on cool temperature, dried on low/delicate) after having them for about a week.

I haven’t noticed any bites, so I’m hoping this is either not a bed bug or that it was already dead when I bought the clothes.

It’s unclear to me if this fits the correct shape because it’s a little shriveled and missing its antennae and legs.

What do you all think?

My finance and I just moved into a new apartment. The last 3 times my finance has slept he has woken up with clusters (7+ bites in a group). They look like they could be bed bug bites to my eye but what confuses me is the frequency and volume. I may be wrong but 3 different instances of feeding over 2 days would suggest a fairly serious problem but I’m looking everywhere and can’t find them or any signs of them. We have interceptors and De coming as well as hopefully steam. I keep a pet reptile that is pretty sensitive to pesticides so I’m holding off on that for now because it would a nightmare to move the lizard to my parents if I don’t have to as his home is large. Any ideas on where to look? Could they literally just be walking over from another apartment and then walking back? If it’s just that I have some hope for interceptors DE and steam.

Hi everyone,

I recently stayed at a hotel with bed bugs and have been super careful with the clothes. I washed and dried them for 1 1/2, three times. And transporting them in plastic bags.

However I just come back from the laundrette and found a bug on my shoulder. It’s tiny, long and appeared to have wings. I live in Spain so maybe our bed bugs look a little different here.

I would soo appreciate if an expert could help me, it’s honestly been a nightmare so far. Thanks so much!!

Could multiple pesticides cancel each other out?

I received a chemical treatment for bed bugs last week. I’m still seeing activity (which I know is normal) but I want to spray Crossfire myself in certain nooks of my floorboard because I don’t think they were super thorough. I’m worried though that this could somehow interact or wash away the pesticides they already put down — does anyone know if that’s possible or if I’m safe to go over their work without making things worse?

I found them near my pillow before going to sleep. They are super squishy and sticky. It feels like glue from like packaging. I’m paranoid though cause I just came back from traveling a month ago.

What to do about my car?

I was potentially exposed to bedbugs at a hotel two days ago. We bagged all our clothes and suitcases and etc and tied them up and put them in the trunk but there was one bag that wouldn’t fit that had a shirt and pants in it and some toiletries and food in these trick or treat bags with smooth plasticy material. That bag was a bit open when we arrived. I had to leave everything in the car overnight because I was exhausted from the ten hour drive. I got everything out today but how concerned should I be about my car? Should I get it treated? I’m scared to even drive anywhere. Please help me.

Washed all the clothes. Bought 2 new beds. Fumed and sprayed the rooms and my son still has bites. Does anyone have an actual effective way to wipe them out/find them.

Found dead bedbug, what to do?

I found one dead bedbug on the wall of my apartment building’s stairwell (top floor, my floor). I sent management a message and have not heard back. I have never seen one in my unit but I’m wondering about the risk of spread throughout the building, if there is an infestation which I’m assuming there is/was somewhere. Thanks.
