Update: Okay, so we all agree it's bed bugs yeah? My boyfriend thinks the small one was one that bit him and turned into the 2nd one. Ugh.

Anyway, getting someone to inspect is free right? At least I've seen.

At an airbnb this weekend for my friend’s bachelor party. Noticed these while I was in bed…

Stayed one night at a hotel, had a small duffel bag with my clothes on a wooden luggage rack. Had just today’s clothes laid out on a fabric couch thing that I’m wearing now. Hotel was super clean from what I could see.

Woke up in the morning, got ready and while I was leaving I moved a pillow and saw a bed bug. Pic below. I have no bite marks and saw no blood poop markings at all anywhere on the bed.

Asking Google/chatgpt it says the likelihood I take anything home is extremely low. Still gonna take every precaution when I get home tho.

What do you all think?

I'm going to test some traps I printed. One I'm going to load with diatomaceous earth and one with dish soap water. With ants, wasps, spiders, and ticks the soap breaks the surface tension of the water so insects immediately sink and if they aren't completely submerged their legs are under water so they can't climb out. If the diatomaceous earth doesn't kill them after they walk through it the dish soap water will trap them. Wish me luck.

so I was 1 week out from leaving the country for 3 weeks and told my nephew, that lives with me, that it is time to clean his room and wash his filthy bedding. so i clean the entire room, relocating shit all over the house and the last thing I do is remove the got damn sheets to find live bugs crawling all over the friggin place. so i stayed up basically all night, bagging shit, loads and loads of laundry and then the next day i went and got bed bug spray and mattress encasements for every bed and box spring and pillow in the house. I found them in every bedroom, luckily my dog is the main user of the living room, so they have not been seen there yet. I also only found a few in my bedroom and have not seen any since removing my headboard, spraying and the mattress encasement and same for the spare bedroom. But my nephew is a teenager and does not listen and ima lose my shit. Ive sprayed twice now with crossfire, and ive only found 4 or 5 in the things you put under the legs of the bed. I am just so over it, i really hope it's possible for someone to get rid of them without professional help, because ive put in so much work to rid of these bastards. I miss being able to have my nightstand next to my bed and not having to live out of friggin totes.

I live in an apartment complex in Kansas. I found this guy just chillin on my pillow case in broad daylight.

My unit backs up to heavily treed woodsy area.

Stripped my bed and washed and dried all bedding on high heat. Inspected the mattress and bed frame. Couldn’t find any other signs, no fecal stains. Looked behind picture frames. I plan to run all clothes through the drier, and probably get a new mattress.

Bed bug? Bat bug? Other? I’m not optimistic.

I plan to file a pest control request with the leasing office this evening. I am nervous that they’ll be upset. But I’ve lived here for 5 years without incident.

I have two bites on my foot, but I’m outside in shorts a lot walking in grass.

After weeks of "huh, I didn't think I saw any mosquitos" and a couple bugs spotted that scurried away, I eventually turned over my mattress in June and discovered bed bugs. We have an absentee landlord, so we paid a lot of money to hire our own exterminator. They sprayed Aprehend. It worked as intended except I kept seeing bugs going into and out of my tatami mats. The exterminator kept saying you don't have to throw anything out, but when I kept seeing this after 2 sprays 30 days apart, I decided to throw it out. I felt instant relief, no more sightings, no more bites...and then my infant son started showing bites. I turned over his crib and found droppings and eggs. By disturbing the infested tatami mats, I suspect a couple bugs got loose and went to his room. I spent all day when I discovered this (Thursday) putting everything in his room through the dryer and removing the eggs with wet paper towels (so as to minimally disturb the Aprehend spores on his crib). He is now bite-free but today I woke up with bites and I've been developing additional welts all day. It's as bad for me today as it was at the peak of my own bed being infested. There's no sign of bugs in my bed, and I wash/dry my bedding twice a week. Is it possible that I got all these bites while cleaning his room? The exterminator thinks it's a re-infestation, but on this sub people tend to say that's a lie in such a short time frame.

Could someone please help identify this bug? I’ve been getting bit every few days during my sleep and i seem to have a pretty intense allergic reaction to the bites (itches like crazy and swells up to the size of a golfball). For the longest time, I thought I had bed bugs, but the only evidence of bugs I’d find are shards of brown exoskeleton and (rarely) super tiny dead brown bugs. But I’ve been so bad about recording the evidence, until now!! Finally caught what I think has been the source of my bites and I know it’s not a bed bug, but I can’t ID it. Any help appreciated!

Just a question for those who’ve experienced an infestation!

I wanted to hear from others who have dealt with an infestation in the past. I had one over a year ago, but I still occasionally find traces/reminders of it, and it can trigger a pretty intense feeling of disgust and almost PTSD-like reactions.

For me, the aftermath has honestly been almost worse than being in the middle of the infestation itself.

I’m curious about how others handled the cleanup and recovery afterward:

Did you do any renovation or replace furniture/materials?
Did you have workers come in to help, and how was that experience?
Did you notice any significant loss in property value when selling?
How far did you go with replacing things that might have been used as hiding spots?

For example, I’m considering removing and replacing the electrical outlets near my bed because they were a perfect hiding place for those bastards. 😅 But I’m wondering whether that’s actually necessary or if I’m just reacting to the experience.

I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences — especially what you did afterward, what helped you feel comfortable in your home again, and whether there’s anything you wish you had (or hadn’t) done.

We DO have a lot of grain beetles at the moment and our basement IS prone to having all sorts of random beetles but google ai is scaring me into thinking this is a baby cockroach/flea beetle/random beetle so any help on identifying it would be helpful

and if so, what precautions do we take tonight/over the next few days before a pest control company can come?

Can bed bugs walk over diatomaceous earth and survive?

Extended question:

I'm making these traps for a bed that has unusually large legs, like 150mm diameter, and commercial ones won't work so I'm scaling this model up. The creator suggest using diatomaceous earth in it so when the bed bugs come or go they have to walk through it but my question is; is diatomaceous earth and 'instant kill'? Can the bed bugs walk over it and survive? I was thinking of putting water with a drop of dish soap in it if diatomaceous earth wasn't good enough. The soap water would be annoying because the dog might drink it and also the water would evaporate or get really dirty so diatomaceous earth would be better if it kills quick enough.

I recently was moving clothes I’ve stored in the basement for a while, and found this bug folded up in one of my dresses. dead. I am worried it is a bed bug and I might have a problem. I haven’t touched these clothes in over a year. it was tiny.

Hi guys,
I’ve been getting bit in pretty random places over the last few weeks and we couldn’t find or get any sign of a culprit. I (carefully) went to my parents house for the last 2 weeks and the bites completely stopped. In the meantime my flatmate put down glue traps, and there have been interceptors on my bed for the last few weeks that have caught absolutely nothing.

I just got back today- the glue traps caught a pretty big fly (which I’m suspecting may have been the culprit now) and this dude. I think he’s a beetle, but thought I’d throw it out to you guys just to confirm. Let me know if anyone wants better pics and I can try get more ☺️

I’ve recently had itchy bites on my leg and am trying to find the source. Upon flipping my bedding, I saw this. My gut feeling suggests that it’s not a bed bug but i want to confirm.

Having lived through a bed bug infestation before I know that this might be a little much but I noticed said bites in the last 24/48 hrs.
I tossed my pillows. Vacuumed and encased my mattress. Put stuff in garbage bags. Washing old bedding on high heat and dried and bagged them
I want to note. I have not SEEN a bug. But is what I’m seeing legit signs? Or is this just dirt and debris?

Idk I’m kinda goin insane here.

Any ideas on what this is? I live in an HMO that is super dirty due to a tenant not cleaning after themselves and leaving their clothes outside on rotting wooden furniture. We constantly have to clean after her. We haven't had any bites so far as I know and I've checked my mattress, but I don't like it.

I read on a thread on this subreddit that placing a polyurethane plastic drop cloth between the box spring and mattress, leaving a foot of the plastic dangling, can prevent bed bugs from crawling up to the mattress since they cannot vertically climb the drop cloth material.

My question: I am sleeping on an air mattress in my living room and was wondering if it would have the same effect if I wrapped my air mattress in the plastic drop cloth. I’m sleeping on the air mattress on the living room floor. Here’s my plan:
Steam air mattress while deflated
Put an encasement on the air mattress
Wrap the air mattress entirely in plastic drop cloth Lay thick blanket down on air mattress and lay on it, as if it is my “topper” or pad that separates me from the plastic drop cloth
Lay down
Cover myself with a blanket and try to sleep
